What do people think of Fuzion on Church?

Rebel House vs. Monk's Table?

Monk's Table has more comfortable seating & while low-key, the food is much better than Rebel House.

Their Cobb Salad, burger, veal are all excellent!

Drinks could be cheaper tho for a 'pub'.

Service is fast - sometimes too push.

Place has a good vibe.

Dinner before movie at Varsity

checked it out. And LOVED their menu .. think will try it out with my B'friend though. (He would appreciate the expensive wine list) where as my g/friend would feel intimidated by the wine in that she wouldn't feel comfortable ordering any drinks coz she would think I'm paying too much for her drink .....

Right! I remembered it used to be Wish before it was Black Skirt before it is now Wish! LOL.

Does anyone know if there their menu is online?

I do like the fact that it is close to Varsity...

thanks!

Dinner before movie at Varsity

Going to the movies with a girlfriend Wednesday night at Varsity (Bloor / Bay), looking for suggestions to have dinner before the movie starts?

Maybe Lobby Bar .. but food seemed a bit pricey.

Somewhere with good atmosphere, tasty food and medium price range.

No to: Bloor St Diner (been there many times before) Sassafraz, One, Panorama, Japanese food (she's allergic to seafood) and Italian (Sotto Sotto, Lunita, Mitsura etc.)

Thanks!

Pastis vs. Mitsura

Thanks Millygirl! Think we're going to book in for Pastis. Will let you know how it went! : )

Pastis vs. Mitsura

Hi everyone, we're deciding to take a good friend + her husband for her 60th birthday in a few weeks. It'll be just 4 of us. Scaramouche prices in the main dining room was a bit out of reach.

So we are now deciding between Pastis (Yonge / Summerhill) or Mitsura.

I can't seem to find Pastis menu online. We have been to both a couple of years ago and liked both.

Any comments / thoughts re: price, food, atmosphere in recent times?

Thanks!

All the Best FF vs. Summerhill Mkt Turkey Dinner

We have been ordering for the past 3 years from 'Whole Foods' in Hazelton Lanes / Yorkville. We didn't order any sides, just the Turkey and it was tasty and easy to prepare. The price is also very reasonable.

Let us know where you ended up order and how it went!

Most Decadent Dishes in Toronto?

2nd that! The lobster at Starfish was very tasty! Prepared just how it should be. Light and butter on the SIDE with a tea light candle to keep the butter warm!!

Great placed to enjoy before visiting Guggenheim

We ended up going to Cafe Sabarsky and it was the 'perfect' choice! Great atmosphere and surprisingly (for a Gallery style cafe), the food was great & prices were very reasonable!

Thanks again everyone!

Great placed to enjoy before visiting Guggenheim

We're planning to visit the Guggenheim on Sunday 10.30am.

Looking for suggestions for yummy bagel & lox of the tasty Jewish kind ... or bowl of cafe latte with a baguette in a french bistro style ....

We are staying near Battery Park. So places either by Battery Park or closer to the Guggenheim would be best ... (and also open by 9amish on a Sunday .... )

Thanks!

Cipriani Dolci for lunch on Saturday or somewhere else (near Grand Central)

Hi, we are deciding between Cipriani Dolci (inside the Grand Central Terminal) for lunch on Saturday or somewhere else.

Any recommendations?

Location to be between Grand Central Terminal or NY Public Library.

Somewhere where not too 'stuffy' .... we enjoy people watching with perhaps a glass of wine and a simple lunch for 2 of us.

Inside or outdoor patio is fine.

Thanks!

where to go for a coffee / drink before a 3pm NY Waterway Cruise?

Taking a friend's Mom to do the NY Waterway Cruise for 90 minutes this Saturday afternoon.

Departs at 3pm from 38th St. @ Hudson River Park.

Any suggestions on what / where we can meet up before hand... perhaps a nice cafe for a coffee / cake close by? Or a mid-afternoon drink? : ) (hanging out with Mothers tends to go smoother with a drink!)

Thanks!

Starfish - before or after activities..?

Thinking of taking my 'other half' for his birthday on a Tuesday night. We both love seafood - the raw kind! - so thought Starfish would be a great place. I've been there but not him.... but I know he will enjoy the place.

Any suggestions for places for a 'cocktail' before dinner @ Starfish ... or a place to hang & enjoy music after?

We've been to Reservior Lounge on a week night for music ... but I want to take him somewhere 'special' and different .... we've been to N'wlins but it doesn't feel 'romantic' enough ...

Don't mind being a quick cab ride somewhere ....

Thanks! and happy long weekend!

Mother's Day Brunch places with elderly parents?

Hi All,

We (four of us) went to King Eddy's for Sunday brunch - food was excellent, service was poor. Plus with elderly parents, we didn't want somewhere too loud & crowded and King Eddy turned out to be just that. Oh well.

Need help about Mother's Day!

We had our mind set on Four Seasons Lobby Bar for High-tea (say around 2pm) .. but they were fully booked.

Can anyone else suggest places?

Someone told me Centro but I looked up their menu and weren't that excited.

Globe Bistro had a good pre-fix 4 course, but it's too much food for four people.

Help?

Thanks!!

Easter Sunday brunch in downtown

Thanks! We ended up going to King Eddy.

Had a reservation 1.30pm for the four of us. We didn't get seated till 2:20pm!! The service was TERRIBLE and disorganized. Maybe because they were overbooked and understaffed.

The food on the other hand were of the high standard we expected. With parents 88 and 86 years old, it was very unfair to have kept them waiting. The delay and poor service really took away the quality of the experience. I would not suggest going there on Easter Sunday or Mother's Day.

Easter Sunday brunch in downtown

Taking b-friend's parents for Easter Sunday brunch in downtown.

I'm thinking of the buffet @ The King Edward or Fairmont Hotel's EPIC.

Any suggestions? Or past experiences that might help me choose?

They are elderly parents so accessibility in a nice, elegant place is important.

(Last year we drove out to The Doctor's House - Kleinburg.) This year, we would like to stay within Toronto.)

Thanks!

Best Oysters

Place to go for a live-music / jazz/ blues?

Hi All! Just like to report that we ended up going to Dizzy Gillespie's (spelling?) Jazz Club on Columbus Circle in the Time Warner building. EXCELLENT Jazz!! Great performers!

Expensive cover-charge & food & drinks. No loud talking. No dancing. But it was nice & romantic - especially with the view over CP.

Next time though, we would like to find a place where we can perhaps chat more & enjoy a slow dance.

Place to go for a live-music / jazz/ blues?

Hi All, we'll be in NYC this weekend (Sat - Mon) staying at mid-down.

Any recommendations for a place that has live-music & jazz at the restaurant?

Perhaps even a little dancefloor on the side so that when the right music comes on, we can hop up?

We're not into the 'clubbing' / meat market type. : )

Thanks!

Best Oysters

We are making a short (Sat - Mon) trip to NYC this weekend and are looking for interesting places to enjoy some nice oysters & a drink perhaps before dinner.

Any new suggestions? Our hotel will be in mid-town.

Dinner & Music on Feb 13th night with the b-friend?

Hi all,

Suggestions on a place to take the b/friend for the Friday night dinner as a Valentine's Gift from me?

We went to Mitsura a few months ago and LOVED the food plus the jazz music next door @ Sopra lounge.

Anywhere in Toronto that has a similar combination of dinner & music? Pref in the same place, or next door is ok.

I remember the 'Top of the Senators' a few years ago that we used to go to and enjoy. But it closed.

Places that we've been to already:

- Chiado, Splendido, Canoe, Bymark, NotaBene, Scaramuche
(plus they don't have music playing.)

Any comments about Le Maquette? or Prime?

We both love meat & seafood.

Thanks!
