Goodbye to "Kitchen little" location.
It was announced they will be moving to Mystic River Marina (on Masons Island) located at 36 Quarry Road, the end of April. The location will be bigger and they'll start serving dinner in May.
Nobua at Teeter House bizarre experience just now
Consider yourself lucky... the food is small and the bill is large. Enjoy your IPA!
Santa Fe Margaritas made w/ FRESH lime juice
Is Dragon Room at the Pink Adobe closed now?
Solo dining in Santa Fe & Taos
I've seen a lot about Love Apple; but it looks like a tiny place and I wasn't sure if they'd poison me if made a reservation for one and had to take up a 2- or 4-top table....... if they have a community table, that might work.
Solo dining in Santa Fe & Taos
You guys are a lot of help! Raw To Go will be helpful for my lunch in Taos (after the farmer's market), as well as Taos Inn for dinner. I had lunch at Hotel La Fonda last time and it was just OK. I was the only person in the place so it was a tad awkward (although the chef came out to talk to me... perhaps out of pity!)
Looked up Treehouse and that looks delicious....don't know how I missed that on my last trip.
La Boca looks fantastic too, so glad they have bar seating...
Solo dining in Santa Fe & Taos
Thanks for that suggestion - checked out their website and it looks wonderful. Added to the list, thanks :)
Solo dining in Santa Fe & Taos
I LOVED BODY... had a delicious raw thai coconut soup that I still think about... that's a definite revisit on my upcoming trip.
Thanks for the Japanese recommendations, I wasn't in the mood for Japanese on my last trip but perhaps this next one...
I did go to Harry's but I didn't notice if they have bar seating? Loved the meal I had there though.
Thanks for all the recommendations!
New London and / or Mystic .....Where do locals eat????
Last I heard (from a reliable source), Kitchen Little will be closing soon, as they did not find a new location.
Solo dining in Santa Fe & Taos
I wanted to bump this back into existence since my original post was from two years ago. I'm headed back to the area and have the same request... any new recommendations? Thanks!
NYC Chowhound needs help! 5 days in Scottsdale
I would definitely do Roka Akor instead of Sapporo if you're looking for Japanese food. Their menu is fantastic, they have a great happy hour, and try their homemade shochu.
Looking for the best destination restaurants in RI, Mass, and CT
I drive an hour to dine at G-Zen in Branford, CT. They describe themselves as "organic vegetarian sustainable cuisine." They do wonderful things with veggies at this place, it's well worth the drive.
New London and / or Mystic .....Where do locals eat????
Dev's on Bank in New London is great for tapas. Bravo Bravo in Mystic has delicious food and good drinks.
Sorry joey, but I wasn't impressed with Pita Spot. My falafel was average. Went back and gave it another try and ordered a $10 salad expecting an entree portion and it was a tiny little side salad. Oh well. I go to Markos in Narragansett for my Middle Eastern food fix.
Chapel Grill in Cranston, RI
I went last Friday night, very busy at 6:30, finally scored a seat at the fancy little bar at 7:15. My friends got delicious looking martinis. The fresh warm bread was satisfying along with the selection of 4 olive oils. I ordered the salmon "small plate" and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Yes, it was indeed a small plate, but really tasty. My friend ordered an apple pie dessert which looked flaky and delicate. Jenn, the bartender, was very nice & accommodating.
I don't understand a previous poster's comment about the "cougars" at the bar, but I will tell you that the average age of the gentlemen patrons was about 70.... so maybe that makes the women look like young, sassy "cougars" in comparison.....I'll take it as a compliment, thank you sir.
Heading to Mystic CT(staying in Groton) with 2 kids
The cheese shop is called "Bleu Squid"...
4 Nights in Mesa - Good and Local
On the Mexican tip, I'd also suggest Rancho de Tia Rosa on McKellips in Mesa - delicious salmon tacos with mango salsa & strong margaritas....
Heading to Mystic CT(staying in Groton) with 2 kids
Near Old Mystick Village, I'd suggest Go Fish and across the street is Peking Tokyo (sushi/Asian).
Nickmerrill suggests Azu and Bravo Bravo (which also have a sister restaurant in Groton called Olio) however, I they're not really places I'd take young children.... higher end fare and small quarters.
Cask 63 - Scottsdale
Visited Cask 63 last week for dinner, the restaurant that took over the Bloom space in Gainey Village. At 6pm, the bar was packed, thankfully I had reservations. The restaurant slowly filled up around 7pm. I ordered the Small White wine flight, which was a steal at $8 for 3 wines from Oregon, Italy & California. The pretzel bread brought to the table with three different butters (all very good, with my favorite being the mustard) was absolutely delicious. I ordered the trout almondine which was a good-sized portion. It was cooked perfectly, with crispy skin (my only complaint was that the skin was very salty, even for a salt fanatic like myself, but I could overlook it). I ordered the s'mores for dessert, recommended by the server, which consisted of two warm brownies, graham crackers, homemade marshmallow, and peanut butter ice cream. Perfect way to end a really great meal - and the price was very reasonable, under $40. Service was attentive and Jerry, the general manager, stopped by tables to check if everyone was happy. I was really pleased with this new restaurant and can't wait until I can get back there!
G-Zen Restaurant in Branford, CT
G-Zen is a vegetarian restaurant in Branford, CT. It's a beautiful space in an old house - dark wood, candlelight, minimalist surroundings with books to browse, mandala art, Buddhist statues, etc. The decor and menu make it feel like it's straight out of NYC. Diverse menu with lots to choose from; I had a dragonfruit/blackberry saketini and raw wrap with homemade wrap shell and fresh ingredients - with a side of coleslaw and mesquite kale chips. So delicious. For some reason the kale chips I make at home don't taste as good! I didn't have room for dessert but I saw what others ordered (vegan "cheesecake" and chocolate cake with hazelnuts with sliced pears for garnish). Everything was plated beautifully with good sized portions - the dishes felt indulgent even though they were all healthy and didn't make you feel lethargic after. I wish it wasn't almost an hour drive from where I live but I will definitely be going back and I recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious vegetarian, vegan, or raw food meal in CT!
Kamp Dog - "the worst vegan restaurant in New London County"
Doesn't sound like a vegan restaurant to me....
DARWIN STRIKES: January restaurant closings
Went last year for restaurant week. The "fresh oysters" were warm and my friend & I both found multiple pin bones in our fish.... would have never gone back.
Seattle guy comin down for 4 days need some recs near Scottsdale
McCormick & Schmicks just closed.
There's another Carolina's location which is much closer at 2126 E. Cactus Road. Great burritos!
I would suggest happy hour at Roka Akor at 7299 N. Scottsdale Road. Great happy hour menu if you sit in the lounge after 5.
FnB is now ByoB
OK I've been biting my tongue but I'm going to have to side with Bill here. I had dined there prior to their "reservations only" policy, and was treated wonderfully. Then after they changed their policy (and I was unaware), I walked in, and was sort of brushed over the entire time. I felt very uncomfortable, like they were doing me some sort of favor, and then I was swept out briskly. I hate to say it, because they work hard there and I enjoy that they are pro-vegetarian with their menu, but I probably won't go back.
Orchard with Activities
Great recs guys - THANKS!!! (I only reason I threw the wine idea in is because my friend will be bringing her 5-year old daughter with us, and I may need to do a little "wine tasting".... :) )
Orchard with Activities
Hi guys - I'm looking for an apple-picking place that has some fun fall activities for kids but also something like farmers market, wine-tasting or bakery (apple cider donuts!) for adults? Tall order, I know.... looking for a place in RI, CT or MASS. I have Clyde's Cider Mill in Mystic near me, but I'm up for a road trip. Thanks!
Whole Foods Stores
I've found this at my Whole Foods too -- the one time it was blatantly obvious was when a high-priced chocolate bar was marked as being on sale, so I purchased it. When I got home I noticed they had charged me full price ($6!!!) When I called to inquire, they said, "Well, it was marked wrong on the tag....the sale price was from last week" But not offer to give me the refund.
Chipotle steps in it again
I am a vegetarian and I've learned I need to ask about everything (including soup stock) at restaurants... just gotten used to being paranoid I guess. This is why I already knew to ask for the black beans on my vegetarian burritos at Chipotle.
TJ's Lemon Ginger Snap ice Cream, Anyone Tried?
Well, I have a 40-minute ride to the store - so rather than risk that lemon mess melting all over my car, I'll just show them the receipt and beg for a refund....
East -coast Trader Joe's that sell liquor?
They were actually chocolate-covered truffle-filled figs in a cute little box. I believe they were called "Rabitos Royale"
I think they were in stores last spring but they went fast.
East -coast Trader Joe's that sell liquor?
No beer, wine or liquor in the RI store (yes, STORE... we only have one TJ's for the entire state...) They weren't even allowed to carry the delicious fig confections that I purchased in an AZ TJ's store, because they contained rum as an ingredient... GRRR.
TJ's Lemon Ginger Snap ice Cream, Anyone Tried?
I thought it was disgusting... too lemony - almost chemical. Going straight into the trash.
