Sullivan County Eats

Directly across the street from Bubba's is The Front Porch. I ate there this past Friday, and the food was wonderfull. I have eaten at the Fat Lady and the other few places on 55, and this was much better.

any good food recs for Monticello, Liberty NY

I have been eating at The Old Homestead in Bridgeville for probably around 40 years. The food has always been very good - certainly the best in the area.

The Front Porch in White Lake is also very good. Owners and staff are very nice.

The Fat Lady in White Lake is also highly thought of, but for some reason I am not as big a fan as most. The owner often has a foul attitude - sometimes she doesn't "feel" like taking reservations.

Where to brunch in Westchester-LoHud

The name was Kona Kai. It used to be one of our regular stops as the kids loved it. The food as I recall was so-so, but the theme and the excellent wait staff, in thier colorfull Hawaiian shirts made it fun.

best buffalo wings in/near White Plains?

My son swears by the wings at Gus's Franklin Park in Harrison. He had them again last night.

Any reviews on the Rye Bar & Grill?

We too were ushered past the "Prefered Customers" to the back room. This is where anyone with kids seems to be seated. My kids are 15 & 9 years old, and have been going to restaurants their whole lives. Most times they are better behaved than me ;) I don't feel that just because we choose to take our children with us we should be exiled to kiddie land. None of the other restaurants we frequent do this, and I have never been turned off by the fact that children are present.

Limani in Roslyn or Oevo in Great Neck?

I just ate at Il Mulino last Friday. The food was ordinary at best. the price on the other hand was anything but ordinary. 6 people ran about $800 before tip (and we are not big drinkers). They wont see me again - good or bad economic times.

Good Chinese Restaurant in Maspeth Queens area?

Thanks! I will give it a try today

Good Chinese Restaurant in Maspeth Queens area?

Hi: Does anyone know of a good bet for Chinese food in the Maspeth/Long Island City area? Something a bit closer and more convenient than Flushing. I have not had much success in finding one. I'm not even looking for anything gourmet - good old fashioned Cantonese would do just fine.

Flames Steakhouse --- Why leave the neighborhood?

Stew Leonards has prime meat - although it is not always out in the display cases. You have to go over to the butcher shop and ask for it. I have had some amazing double thick rib steaks cut to order which ranked up there with the best restaurant.

Any reviews on the Rye Bar & Grill?

That I have seen for myself. My wife is a daily commuter, and the few times in the last couple of weeks I went to the station to pick her up it has been crazy. Thanks

Any reviews on the Rye Bar & Grill?

Thanks for the info. I'm glad the menu hasn't changed much. The food was never great, but it was always fresh and the variety appealed to the whole family. The place does look huge from the outside. Even before the alteration the place could be very noisy - thats why it was always a good bet with the kids even when they were younger. I'm going to try to go again this weekend.

Any reviews on the Rye Bar & Grill?

I see that the Rye Bar & Grill is open again. The new digs look spectacular, but as yet I have been unable to get in. Last Friday evening they informed me that without a reservation it would be at least a three hour wait.

I called for a reservation for Superbowl Sunday and they informed me that they would not be open. They hung up before I could ask if it was just this Sunday, or if they will be closed every Sunday. That would stink, as it was always a great place to fall in for an early Sunday dinner.

I wish them well, but I hope the crowds die down enough that it can once again be a neighborhood place where you can just pop in without making a reservation.
