Checking Chester County Comfort Food Yes, I do - what do you recommend? |

Checking Chester County Comfort Food Just wondering if there are any suggestions in Chester County for good reasonably priced comfort food like sandwiches, beef, pork, mussels, Italian dinners, etc. No chains please! |

DD is just bad, period. Plus most of those places look dirty to me. Wawa is just watered down coffee and SB is good on occassion but too dark. I have tried Seattles Best a few times if you can find one and I think it is the best out of all of them. |

Most of the sweetened additives contain High Fructose Corn Syrup which is bad for your health! |

Looking for the Shrimp Scampi recipe served at the Villa Di Roma, Phildelphia, PA Would love to know also. I think it's the same sauce they use on Chicken Sicilian. Please somebody! |

Where does one draw The Scrapple Line? Trenton Pork Roll is actually made by Taylor. Trenton is a cheaper version. Taylor is the best, nothing else compares although my kids prefer Trenton because they are used to it. Taylor has too much flavor according to them. |

fresh-picked corn btwn Marsh Creek & (western) Main Line? There's a guy on Rt 100 in Eagle in front of Moore's furniture that sells his own corn on the weekends. Also, if he's not there then there is a small farmers market just north of the Sunoco station on the corner of 401 and 100. I think the corn comes from the same farm. Good Luck! |

Thanks for speaking the truth about Sarcone's rolls. I agree, too bready. They overwhelm the hoagie. I almost want to take the insides out and get a plate of EVOO and dip it in. Great bread but not for a hoagie. There, it's said - sorry ChowHounds! |

PA guy looking for hoagies (subs) down the shore I am down the shore for a couple weeks and I am looking for a good "sub" shop near Cape May. Any suggestions? |

Hoagie roll: to seed or not to seed? I agree, the contents should be primary, the roll secondary. Conshy rolls are the best hoagie rolls in the Philadelphia area, especially is they are re-baked right before assembly. The Best! |

Opinions wanted on soft pretzels I concur, Center City pretzels are the best but it seems when I eat them then I crave carbs for a few days and end up putting the weight on. Once in a while I will by a bunch and "OD" on them. Can't wait to get back to DiPalma, they are real good too. |
Opinions wanted on soft pretzels Thanks for clearing that up and the research. Never knew that! |
Opinions wanted on soft pretzels Thanks, I think the DiPalma pretzels are great and when on 95 North I try to stop and get some. I've been know to eat six at a time with a coke then spend a day recuperating. |

Opinions wanted on soft pretzels So you're saying that soft pretzels originated in Lancaster County? Or that just the sweet pretzels originated there? It would be nice to hear the Philly side of the story. I always thought that the real soft pretzels with the salt came from South Philly. Some one please clarify. |
Opinions wanted on soft pretzels I guess after reading "bluehensfan" post maybe we should specify the diference between the two types of soft pretzels because both types have their fans. There are "Antie Ann's" style which are mostly the sweet versions then there are the traditional Philly soft pretzels which are the longer narrow ones with kosher salt. Both are good but I prefer the traditional. I heard that J&J Snacks of SuperPretzel fame bought out Federal Pretzel a few years ago. That's why the quality has declined. In my opinion, "Center City" pretzels are great as well as the ones sold at the Cottman exit at Rt 95. Does anyone know the name of the Cottman pretzels? |

Opinions wanted on soft pretzels I'm surprised there isn't more talk about soft pretzels. What's your favorite? |

Hoagie roll: to seed or not to seed? Yes, you are exactly right! It's the air or "no air". A denser roll that is easy to eat is definitely better. The problem with Sarcone's are THEY ARE NOT EASY TO EAT. Amoroso was made popular by Wawa. I'm not sure they still use their rolls though. Wawa likes to make everything theirselves like the soft pretzels which are horrible. |
Hoagie roll: to seed or not to seed? Seeded rols are good in my opinion but Sarcone's are just way too much bread for a hoagie. Carangi is a better choice. A hoagie should be a good combination of all ingredients and should not be overwhelmed by the roll. Cheesesteaks are better on a plain Conshy roll. |

Hoagies are like pizza. Everyone likes a different one. I tried Cosmi's about a month ago but was very unimpressed. Nothing special for me. Sarcone's and Primo are way too bready. I want all the ingredients to stand out not just the bread. |

Is it my imagination or is every thing at Crawdaddy's seasoned the same? Doesn't it get boring? The last time I was there we had alligator which was great but then also got potatoes and bread and it all had the same cajun seasonings. They shoud break it up a little. Just my opinion. |

Great pulled pork bbq to take home? Jimmy's BBQ in Frazer has a great product and I am pretty sure it is available in larger catering quantities. WWW.jimmysbbq.com |

Thaks for the advice. We go to Carlisle a few times a year for the car shows. We will check it out. |

Certified Angus Burgers Chester County I was looking for a restaurant or take out with great burgers. I am tired of the Five Guys types. Thanks for the response though. |

Certified Angus Burgers Chester County Any suggestions where there are certified Angus Burgers in Chester County. Fresh ground would be nice. Nothing fancy or extravagant just a good old fashioned burger - no chains please. |

You really like Talk of the Town? The last time I had a cheesesteak there the first bite landed the whole meat part of the sandwich on my lap. Too tough and gristly for me. |

Quintessential South Philly Italian If you want Italian attitude, cheap surroundings and great food then Villa di Roma is the place. The "chicken siciian" is the best. |
Quintessential South Philly Italian Termini's is Numero Uno! |
South Philly Italian food question... I think what you are referring to is "aglio olio" or the American pronunciation is "aya oya". Basically just chopped garlic, extra virgin olive oil, salt & pepper. Real simple but real good. I normally eat it with plain old spaghetti. You're right it brings back memories of our South Philly roots. |

The decline of the Italian Hoagie FINALLY! Someone finally agrees with me. No one else seems to be on the same page. The Primo rolls are too bready. When I am eating a hoagie I don't want to have to wrestle the roll to eat it. The Conshy rolls are perfect hoagie rolls because they make it easy to eat. THANKS! |

I concur. The only thing I ever tasted on a Geno's steak was the onions. The meat has no flavor whatsoever. |
