Shanti on Dorchester Avenue
I think you probably were asking the OP, but the last time I went, I hit up their buffet for lunch on the weekend and it was quite good. I generally prefer to order off the menu, but they were keeping the buffet filled and everything was fresh. There are times that I end up there every Saturday or Sunday for weeks on end.
Shanti on Dorchester Avenue
I never can pass up their meat samosas or vegetable korma. I then tend to order off their specials menu.
Kitchen Nightmares heads to Galleria 33
It's been awhile since I've been to LaGalleria 33, but I always enjoyed the food there. From what I understand it is a family run operation. I was under the impression that Rita was the owner and that her mother owns L'Osteria.
Best Lobster Shacks within 30 miles of Boston?
Clam Box does have a decent lobster roll though and I like that they have a beer and wine license.
Best Lobster Shacks within 30 miles of Boston?
Hingam Lobster Pound is take out but if you call ahead they will steam lobster. Grab it to go and get a picnic table just up the street overlooking the harbor.
Deciding between Mesa Grill, Spago, and Mon Ami Gabi... NEED HELP!!!
I've only been to Mon Ami but enjoyed it. Outside seating is the most sought after but it was hot so we opted for the bar. Bartender (Erica) was attentive and pleasant. She genuinely seems to enjoy her job. I had the seafood crepe. Now, coming from Boston I wondered how seafood would be and I was not dissapointed. Seared scallops were cooked perfectly lightly caramalized on top, shrimp was cooked properly as well. It was a very relaxing dinner which we enjoyed after a long flight.
Gordan Ramsey Steak at Paris
Staying at the Paris Hotel and happened upon last nights opening. We managed a 5:00 reservation so I was thrilled. Very high energy with everyone having opening night jitters. The staff was so attentive it was hard to have a conversation but I'm sure they'll find a balance. the food was a delight. Nice selection of breads to start. I had the American Kobe beef tenderloin which was delicious along with a side of overloaded baked potato that was rich yet addictive with all othe cheese and smoked bacon. DC had the short ribs and allowed me a bite even though it was hard for him to share. Ended my meal with the sticky toffee pudding, a moist date flavored pudding cake, toffee butter sauce and ice cream. We just couldn't go wrong. One caution though, staff really tries a little too hard to up sell the menu.
What is the appeal of Fox and Hound???
In recent months the Fox and Hound in Quincy has been slammed with a full parking lot. It lured me in tonight because I thought I was missing out on something special. OMG what was I thinking. We sat at the bar and were greeted with totally inattentive staff and it didn't get better, uncleared dishes etc. Lobster Mac and cheese was a simple white sauce with only the faintest hint of cheese tossed with lobster. It wasn't baked but at least you could pick out the lobster. Chicken salad was served on a warm roll; the type you take out of the freeze and bake but it never gets golden, it just makes the salad warm yuk!!!! Despite this the bar was three deep wiith people reaching over you and hanging on your chair. Don't they know there are better places n Quincy.
Where can I find Boston's best and freshest fried haddock plate?
My go to is Burkes Seafood on Billings Rd in Quincy. It's nothing fancy, they have the fish market on one side and a small dining room on the other. They also serve beer and wine, and there is parking in the back. I absolutely love their fried haddock.
Need North End Restaurant for visiting parents and awful toddler
I understand, and I've been in the same position. I recommend Artu because the dining room does attract a lot of families and strollers. When dining there, I opt to sit at the bar and out of ear shot. It's hard to pass up their shrimp scampi pizza or even the potato and prosciutto pizza.
Need North End Restaurant for visiting parents and awful toddler
I agree with the Antico Forno recommendation, and would also recommend Artu. I always see families with strollers coming into Artu, and the place is quite child friendly.
near Logan Airport
I always stay at the Hilton the night before a flight out and I've found that the Legal Seafood at Terminal C is quite good. I'm not generally a fan, but last time I had some nicely shucked oysters and cajun scallops which I would definitely go back for. The guy sitting next to me was from Phoenix and getting his last fried clam fix. He liked them well enough to get 3 appetizer size orders. Legal Seafood and Legal C Bar are both PRE-security so that could work for you.
How to eat fewer refined carbs???
Thank you for the advice; it's actually has me kind of curious. So I will try testing 3-4 hours after the next time I have Dreamfinders. As for the spagetti squash, I love it topped with shrimp and garlic with some broccoli thrown in.
How to eat fewer refined carbs???
I test 2 - 3 hours after and generally come in around 125. I've cut way back on pasta but just am not ready to give it up. Do like spaghetti squash though.
How to eat fewer refined carbs???
I have Type 2 diabetes and couldn't stand the thought of giving up pasta. I also didn't care for the whole what stuff so I tried Dreamfield pasta which claims to be 65% lower on the glycemic index. For me this has been a great option. It's still made with semolina flour but doesn't impact your sugars as much
Are my picks okay?
Neptune would definitely be good for dinner. My suggestion for lunch was only because it seems easier to get a table without a wait in the late afternoon. I haven't been spending much time in the South End these days. I've always liked Hammersleys, and my favorite spot (Pops) sadly has closed. Metropolis Cafe is wonderful for brunch, especially their monte christo with an added side of apple sausage. If you have time, you may also want to explore the Beacon Hill area, especially Charles St, where they have a number of restaurants, along with shops to poke in. My favorites in that area are 75 Chesnut and Lola Rokh which are both off of Charles. Beacon Hill Bistro is another good option.
Are my picks okay?
I'm a fan of Neptune and I'm thinking that may be a good lunch stop especially if you go around 2 or 2:30. I've had good luck getting a seat around that time without waiting. Both Carmen and Monica's are solid choices. For bakeries in the North End I lean towards Maria's. Myers andChang gets a lot of love on this board but I just didn't care for it the few times I went. I will say they had delicious tea smoked ribs though. Oh, and yes you can get wine at Neptune.
What are my chances of dining without reservations?
thanks for all the responses. It's been helpful especially since I now have a few more places to research that weren't on my radar. I hadn't even thought of checking out Thai food which I really enjoy, now I will.
What are my chances of dining without reservations?
Thanks. I'll be solo some meals as I'm sure DH will have a hard time pulling away from the casinos.
What are my chances of dining without reservations?
First time visitor with plans for a Sunday thru Thursday trip in May. I have made reservations for Scarpetta one night but would prefer to just eat on the fly the rest of the week. Most likely to dine either late lunch or early dinner 5:30 or 6. Places that I'm leaning towards are Roy's; Table 10 or one of the buffets. restaurants at Paris look interesting but probably require reservations, Any advice?
Presidential Dining in Quincy/Braintree?
Or maybe the Presidential Pub in Quincy Center, but not sure if they serve food? ;)
Almond milk: where/how does it work for you?
Agree with scunge, great in cereal or pancakes or by itself. I also use it to make French toast. Just blend together egg, almond milk and some vanilla to dip the bread in. While t he toast is cooking heat some sliced bananas with butter, maple syrup and pecans, top on the French toast and it is delicious. I feel the almond milk makes the difference.
Prime Rib South of Boston
I believe Spud and Sergio are one and the same. Though as I recall it was Al's brother Andy who was called Mr. Kelly? it's sad to drive by the old Mr. Kellys and see the building all torn down. While most remember their prime rib I liked hanging out in the bar and having pizza. Back to prime rib -- was at Alfredo's recently and they have a nice prime rib. It's on.their regular menu and available as early as 4:30.
TD Bank could replace Firefly’s Barbecue in Quincy
When Basta Pasta first opened they refused to do take out. Put it right out there with a "NO TAKEOUT" on their site. They later softened the wording on their site and said sorry, no take out. When they did decide to do takeout I was told 1 hour for a pizza so I went elsewhere. Then they had inconsistent hours and twice I drove in to find them closed when their site said they would be open. I never did give them another thought, although I did have a taste of their meatballs when friends had leftovers and they weren't bad.

What Villa Rosa isn't a good Italian restaurant :)

Nantasket in the off season
I just called them when I saw your message and they said 11:30. Yea!! Schooners is back on. Thanks.
Nantasket in the off season
Have to revamp my plans a bit, according to Facebook, Schooners doesn't open until 3:00 on Mondays. So, now I'm thinking a glass of wine and maybe an appetizer at the Snug, play some Keno and then head to Schooners for a lobster or fried clams.
Nantasket in the off season
Thanks for the update! You have a few places listed that I hadn't heard of so I'll do a little more research. I'll keep Hull's Kitchen in mind for warmer weather, after a recent trip to San Diego I discovered I really like fish tacos. That short rib pizza at Riva sounds quite good.
