Live Crawfish in Baltimore

Not Baltimore, but just down the road in Gambrills/Crofton. Shoreline Seafood has them.

Baltimore Food Truck Rally

Is anyone going to the Food Truck rally at the SPCA? Today is the first I've heard of it.
Both of my dogs are rescued dogs, and I kinda like food trucks.....short notice so I can't make it, but I thought I'd try and put the word out.

Shad Roe

Not in MoCo or DC, but not far in AA County, Shoreline Seafood in Crofton/Gambrills has shad roe

Best Annapolis area weekend lunch picks?

I will second Punks Backyard Grill. My wife and daughter were at the mall today and said they were just going to grab something from the food court for dinner...I suggested Punks after seeing ktmmmau's post...they loved it. Not much more expensive than the mall court crap, but so much better. They brought me home a flat iron steak sandwich, and even cold was pretty awesome. Wifey said they had a pretty awesome beer selection too,so thats a bonus. On the down side, the sides were pretty bland. Mac and cheese and the macaroni salad were a waste of money....just bland...

Triple D comes to Annapolis

On the 27th they will air the R&R Taqueria episode.

Anne Arundel Pit Beef Tour

Glad you liked their pit beef....and they are really nice people. Even when you get the teenage kids working there they are always nice. I agree that most of the other stuff is just ok, although my daughter loves their wings. I would suggest next time getting a half smoke along with your pit beef. They do a pretty good half smoke....green peppers and onions....

Tatu Restaurant - Living Social

I just saw on Living Social that Tatu restaurant in Baltimore had a Sushi making and Sake tasting event. Of course I always read these things when its to late, was wondering if anyone here might have gone. Sounds like it would have been fun, my sushi making is limited to California rolls.

on a side note, is Tatu any good? Have never been.

Need Current Info re: Best Crabcake

Not gonna give a rec on the best crabcake in this region as they are out of season, although most crab places I know do suplement their crab supply from LA throughout our season when they need to anyways....most people don't even know the difference. For the last few years all my crabs have come out of my brothers traps in the bay, so I've been lucky to have nothing but Bay crabs... That being said....I have to agree with Crackers.....there is always melted butter, vinegar (apple cidar in our case), and extra Old Bay or JO seasoning in cups on the table when picking crabs. It's been that way for as long as I can remember......even in crab houses they usually offer at least melted butter. My wife eats hers plain....my daughter is a double dipper, butter then vinegar....I like both ways......to each their own

Made in the Baltimore Region

Don't know if meat products will work for your welcome bags, but to go along with what monkeyrotica said

Restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day

FoiGras..... I hope your hubby is doing well and recovering quickly.

I saw where the Elkridge Furnace Inn is going to have afternoon hours, and I know you've mentioned them before. We still haven't been, but plan to on your rec...

Any pit beef places in Baltimore open on Sunday?

If you are talking Expressway in Odenton, they are closed on Sundays and only have a few outdoor picnic tables.

Lunch over MD Bay Bridge

Ivysmom, I just posted about this place in another thread. Might be what you are looking for.

Best food (especially crabs) a short drive from DC?

What is a short drive? If you have time, as others have said I would suggest going across the bay bridge to get the Maryland experience. Local crabs are all but done here, although most people can't tell local from La crabs anyways if they are steamed and use Old Bay or JO spice. This time of year in Md I think of Oysters and Rockfish. You may enjoy this place....

Viener Schnitzel

Out towards Annapolis in Edgewater is the Old Stein Inn. Just recently re-opened. I haven't been yet, but they have veal, pork and chicken schnitzel.

Final Dinner

I know you are looking for restaurant places, but for me it would be eating steamed crabs on the back porch with family. Cold beer, shrimp and crabs.....actually that's this weekends menu....hope thats not a sign of things to come!

BBQ--looking for the best

Robert, couldn't agree more. KBQ in Bowie is a good example. Was once really good, now just ok. I don't even find it worth the twenty minute drive anymore. (although looking at yelp you would think its the greatest place ever...as Seinfeld would say "Who are these people" that give such ratings on yelp?)

Bobby Flay’s Burger Palace to open August 16

There is one opening in Edgewater right outside of Annapolis. Still saying November.

Sonic that is

Anne Arundel Pit Beef Tour

Thanks for the heads up odkaty. I know they had a busy week so I thought that they may cancel. I was able to go anyways, spent the day cleaning up a flooded garage. Do you know how often they do their pit beef?

Anne Arundel Pit Beef Tour

"The two are not mutually exclusive."

Good point.

Anne Arundel Pit Beef Tour

Need some help. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I've convinced her to go on a Pit Beef tour of our county. I want to try four different places in the county. My question is...should we buy the sandwiches and try them all at the same time, or should we taste each one at each place while its nice and warm? I am thinking buy a sandwich at each place ( splitting between four) med rare with just tiger sauce. Going to...

Expressway Pit Beef in Odenton (West county and our local place)
Arundel VFD in Davidsonville (Central)
Bayside BBQ in Edgewater (South)
and if time permits...
Beefalo Bobs in Pasadena (North)

I've had three of the four already, but I saw that the VFD was doing pit beef this Saturday and I thought about the Pit Beef Tour.

Any suggestions? (Besides adding Baltimore into the mix)

Crabs this weekend?!?!

Gunnings is close to the airport.

You want steamed blue crabs. Gunnings does a good job.

Double R Bar Burger

I am so glad to see I am not the only one who holds this burger in high regards. I posted this in the DC/Balto board but it got moved. I figured since it was kind of a local topic thats where it belonged, not in chains. There is a thread over there that is chain specific, wonder why it hasn't been moved....oh well, who am I to say.

Double R Bar Burger

I don't know why I've never done that Hon. Next time I make burgers I will, along with some gooey american cheese.... The comedian Jim Gaffigan does a bit about ham hamburgers....little does he know how good they are!

Double R Bar Burger

I know about the two in Frederick, and thanks for the heads up on those in Montgomery county. I am in Anne Arundel, and we don't have any. I just don't get out that way very much anymore. And you are right, their chicken was always great, although I am a huge fan of Royal Farm chicken, for fast food chicken.

Double R Bar Burger

I was in Frederick yesterday and saw a Roy Rogers. Thought Double R Bar Burger. We don't have Roy's around here anymore. It was fantastic, or maybe it was just memories of old that made it taste that way. Every Friday on my way up to Frostburg to visit my girlfriend (now wife) I would stop at Roy's and have a Double R Bar burger.....that was twenty plus years ago. For a fastfood burger, it's great. Or is it just the memories that make it taste good? Does anyone else miss this burger?

College Park/Greenbelt

Just Jerk is in Lanham on Lanham/Severn Rd. Great Jerk. Unless there is one in College Park I'm not aware of. It's been so long since I've been down Rt 1

Post Office Closure affecting food delivery on popular hiking trails

Thanks for article pdx . I never even thought about that. Have friends who have done the AP trail and I know they counted on these post offices along the way. I think mpjmph is right, locals will start offering supply services. Hopefully its not a gouge type situation. Although the hikers of the AP trail are a tight group, I'm sure they will come up with a resourceful plan. Hiking the whole thing was one of my goals, I'm afraid that plan has passed. Getting old sucks. ;)

Whatever happened to Two Dudes

I know they weren't everyones cup of tea, but I used to enjoy the guys from Two Dudes One Pan fame. Jon and Vinny were very relatable. At least to me. I know they opened Animal restaurant in LA, but I would love to see them with another show. Couldn't be worse than a lot of the garbage on FN now. How many cake, cupcake, pastry wars, etc. do the subject us to? At least these two love cooking.

When you hear Adobo what do you think of?

I did read the wiki article before I posted. Just wanted to see what others had in their mind what "Adobo" was. Glad I am not the only one who had one notion in mind, only to find out there are a lot of different "Adobo" meanings.

When you hear Adobo what do you think of?
