Greek Puffy pocketless pita recipe?

Not one person has a pita sans pocket recipe? I explored online, but am not sure if what I am finding is the thick, pocketless flatbread I want!

Greek Puffy pocketless pita recipe?

I would love to try and make some for this weekend! I don't like the pocket pita, I prefer to wrap my gyro or kefta in nice, soft, fluffly thick pocketless greek pita.

Anyone have a great recipe?

Puffy Pita NoHo? Fresh?

I have discovered I LOVE fresh puffy pita. often called "Imported from Chicago" in dining establishments that are greek, it doesn't make a pocket (no pita should, in my mind)

I want a whole lot of it without paying $2.00 a basket.

Where can I get some to take home, BESIDES Pappa Christos, which isn't in NoHo, anyhow.

The catch-Isreali or Kosher bakeries won't do, as the only time I can get it is after 4:30 Friday (continental is shut by then) or before sundown Saturday!

Eeek!

Help me find a bag of fresh puffy pita of my very own!

CiCi's VS The Griddle Pancakes?

I've been to and adore the Griddle.

Does Ci Ci's compete? Compare?

Who has been to both and can declare "_________________ has the best pancakes"?

Going to Animal this Saturday! Dinner for one? What to look for?

Gosh, this is exciting. I've wanted to go for so long, but always talk myself out of it-or my husband talks me out of it.

I can hardly wait!

There is a valet, right? PArking around there is tough!

Going to Animal this Saturday! Dinner for one? What to look for?

Thanks for helping me bite the bullet and just go, Hounds!

So, what should I look for? In order to taste more, I figured I should order a handfull of the small plates.

I figure the biscuit is a given, but what else there not to be missed? I have to have one veggie dish, too.

I can't have the bacon bar, cause the nuts make me sick.

I thnk, actually, if I can swing it, I'll have dessert at Menchie's back near home, or maybe MILK. Probably Menchie's.

Help me decide!

I am to be left bereft this weekend, as my husband is off to some event I have no interest in whatsoever. In fact, in the next two months, he's going to be away a lot-Cousin's wedding, convention for his brew club, another beer thing, a work convention in Long beach, the family memorial day camping trip (I hate camping with a passion)

So, well, this weekend is one of those times. I am at a loss of what to do for my Saturday.

Go see Sexy Hugh Jackman run around naked and near naked chopping things and then buy some great fresh unique LA ingredients and come up with an amazing recipe

I live now in NoHo, but will travel a little way. Not too far, because I want some wine or beer, or a margarita.

The Hat (Review + Pics) - Alhambra

This sounds evil, but do they put chili and cheese on the onion rings?

The Hat (Review + Pics) - Alhambra

I hear the onion rings are good that way, too.

Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]

Had the OP been allowed to come and eat, there would have been a profit on the food ordered. I am not saying to undercharge, just to honor a reservation for a dinner out and earn a repeat customer.

I have unfortunately had to call ahead and reduce a reservation size more than once (thank you flakey brother in law), each time at a reputable spot with foodie cache. Never have I been told that my reservation was being taken away. NEVER. In fact, I've never even heard of such a thing happening!

Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]

"The customer is always right" should probably be repalced with "Happy Customers pay our bills and paychecks".

I never have to whine. IS it the policy to cancel reservaitions if people don't show up and the customers are polite and mention it ahead of time?> Would the table have been canceled if they ahd just shown up?

Maybe it is, but just because it is a policy, doesn't mean it is a good one. Restaurants change policies, of course they do. If it isn't working and is driving away customers (happey customers = $$$) then the policy is changed. Especially if it is a silly one.

Buisinesses don't make money if they continue to upset or drive away customers.

Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]

As it was, the two who didn't call orederd nothing, as did the two who were "cancelled" And those people will probably NEVER order from there, as will possibly people who they tell about this. Also, the OP will never consider booking events or taking other guests there. Hundreds of dollars of portential future business gone, all because of poor customer service.

Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]

Bob, this is the service industry, not Wall Street. "Greed" is not the watchword. "Service" is. Restaurants are supposed to cater to the needs of customers, not the other way around.

A good Charcoal Grill?

My smoker is lonely. I want a grill. I was thinking of a weber One Touch or similar.
Adivce?

Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]

Read again, the OP did not call to cancel, the OP was doing a favor and letting them know the reservation needed to be "modified" as two people couldn't come. That is being a responsible person. The table was still reserved-they had reserved it. The restaruant, rather than do what many have and honor the reservation, told them not to come, and essentialy said in so many words "we throw away our prior agreement of a reservation" or "you are not as important to us now," That, to me, is RUDE.

I suppose to have kept the table, the OP could have just been rude and NOT informed the restaurant-just shown up and have two people missing. They were, essentialy, treated with bad customer care because they chose to be considerate and polite.

That is not the way to earn repeat customers. Two people returning over and over because they were treated as if they mattered means repeat business, repeat business is the mainstay of keeping anyplace open. Happy customers also give good reviews, and lead to more customers.

It was rude, unfair, and bad practice. They should at least have been offered a gift certificate, reservation at another time/date, or the chance to keep thier table.

Are good strawberries to be had yet?

I need them for a strawberry shortcake. Anyone had some good ones from WF, BF, Gelson's or, better yet, Farmer's Markets?

Gjelina's attitude [Moved from LA board]

I would waste a fourtop on gaining good return clientele and avoiding bad Reviews on Chowhound.

Treating customers right is never a "waste" and is always financially beneficial.

Best Burger ever?

Depends on the cheese. Also, most of it melts pretty well, then you put your nuts on. Or you COULD put the nuts inside the patty first.

Hey LA hounds.Where do you go for mariscos in the valley?

Oop, Kester and Vanowen. North East corner. I sorta like it all, to tell the truth. The family tha owns it should be sainted.

Best Burger ever?

Why not just bleu cheese?

ooey gooey dessert in the evening between Canoga Park and No Ho?

Fondue Bourgonion (SP?) closed around a year ago, I think.

ooey gooey dessert in the evening between Canoga Park and No Ho?

Driving back from dropping sis off at home in CP. I'll want something big and good and sweet. Probably I'll be on the 101. What are some good stops?

Hey LA hounds.Where do you go for mariscos in the valley?

There is a Mariscos place on Kester and Kittridge that ain't half bad. I forget the name

KitchenAid vs Cuisinart Food Processeor?

Or "pood frosessors" as I said when small.

Which is the bettery buy, the better machine. I want one to chop, shred, mix, blend, make pastry dough and so on. A workhorse that won't crap out on me.

Opinion seems somewhat divided.

My husband at first said "Why not a Robot Coupe" (his bachelor to soon not be buddy has one) but then made choking noises when I showed him the price.

So, forget Robot Coupe- I'm happy with the "lesser" machines.

Honda Ya or Haru Ulala?

Sonds good..which has better food and better octopus balls and pancakes?

Since sis don't drink, the food, ambaince and service trump sake and beer selection. Also the wait.

Honda Ya or Haru Ulala?

For my sister's Birthday, maybe. She's never been to an Izakaya before. I've been to Honda Ya, and its pretty good. Is H U better? She loves Japanese, but doesn't drink at all.

Best French Toast in LA

I have tackled Griddle pancakes (although I need to taste all the flavors) and so very much WANT to hit the french toast!

Post Revlon Run Walk?

What is good there?

I was also considering Clifton's, for the kitch factor, Little Tokyo places, chinatown, Olvera street and those areas. The food does not have to match the town. I mean, I know Senor Fish is near little tokyo.

Also, I've not eaten downtown all that much

Post Revlon Run Walk?

We'll be at the Revlon Run Walk in the Colesium on the 9th. Where is a good place to go for din din post run? Any type of food, but nothing as $$$ as Water Grill.
