Bachelorette Party June 2nd in Ft. Lauderdale
Tatu at the Hard Rock. Good asian style food (not great), great atmosphere, and great semi-private options for groups.
Fort Lauderdale for 2 nights
Bit more info would be useful: where are u staying, where are u from, what do u like/dislike, what sort of price point?
Looking for an exhibition kitchen alternative to Boulevard.
thanks for the suggestions so far. What sort of crowd is Old Joe's?
I am actually not staying in the city and have a rental car, so any part of the city is ok.
Looking for an exhibition kitchen alternative to Boulevard.
HI all,
I am in town for a couple of nights by myself and looking for a restaurant to dine alone in. I often go to Boulevard as I really enjoy sitting at the bar by exhibition kitchen and watching the chefs do their work, but I would prefer try somewhere different, maybe not as stuffy. Would appreciate any suggestions.
Pre theatre in FLL (near BCPA optional)
If you are not looking for something fancy, Rok Brgr is a great spot, and much better than Tarpon Bend. Excellent burgers, good apps, nice atmosphere.

Although I think M17 has some of the best food in the area, it is a bit further than I would want to be from the theater. PL8 is ok, but nothing special. Yolo has a great ambiance, but food is also nothing special. What kind of food are you looking for?
Where are the best burger joints in Miami (possibly South Beach)?
Btw, Rok BRG in Ft Lauderdale has a burger with short ribs. Delicious.
Special Dinner in Ft. Lauderdale?
Yes, it is fairly upscale, a high end steak and seafood restaurant. Is that what you are looking for?
Perimeter dinner?
Did Wildfire in Atlanta close down, as it is not listed on the corporate website?
business dining Ft. Lauderdale
Grille 66 at the Hyatt is a good option for steak and seafood, and has a great setting on the intra coastal. I hosted a business dinner for a similar size group there a couple of years ago with people from all over the world and everyone had a great time. Request a table outside for great views of the passing boats.
Fort lauderdale
Like I said, the demographics of this board do not directly reflect the quality or restaurants in any given area. The lack of recommendations for Fort Lauderdale could be a direct result of a lack of posters from the area. This board is definitely skewed to the Miami dining scene - quite rightly, as that is a more dynamic dining scene, but it doesn't mean Fort Lauderdale doesn't have good options.
And I never said the OP requested refined, hip or romantic. I was saying that either restaurant would be a good option and was explaining the different appeal of both. What the OP did ask was for a restaurant in Fort Lauderdale.
Fort lauderdale
The demographics of the board obviously do not necessarily reflect the standards of the restaurants in different areas. I agree FLL does not have the same number of quality restaurants as Miami, or even Delray, but the poster asked for a recommendation for FLL and there are definitely good options.
Grille 66 for somewhere refined and/or romantic and Steak 954 for somewhere more 'hip' are both good options.
Fort lauderdale
I would go to Grill 66 at the Hyatt. Great steak and seafood, stunning setting on the intra coastal.
Bourdain in Miami
From a practical perspective, I don't think anyone on a layover in Miami would be advised to do 90% of what he did in the episode.
Downtown for early business dinner
I have been to Perbacco with them for lunch, and it did not seem a high-end place (order at the counter) although it might be different at night, but I don't think see it as an option, even if only because we have been there before.
Arashall, when I did my original search on this board, many of those restaurants came up, but the client has been specific about staying in close vicinity.
Downtown for early business dinner
Thanks for the replies so far.
I have been to Artista with this same client, and it was only ok, so would rather avoid it.
Morton's is not exciting, and I would rather avoid a regular steakhouse. Looking for something a bit more creative.
Samba Grille looks good, but the reports I have read suggest it is too loud for a business dinner.
Any thoughts on *17?
Downtown for early business dinner
Hi all,
I will be in downtown next week and looking to take clients out for dinner to somewhere that is preferably in walking distance of Miliam and Rusk. Looking for great food, with cost a secondary issue. Voice at the Hotel Icon used to be my destination of choice (prefer not to go to a standard steak-house) but now that it is gone I am not sure where to go. Have been leaning towards *17, but would really like some other options. Had considered Kris Bistro, but client said they wanted to stick to downtown.
Thanks for your help.
Romeo's Cafe
I was really hoping to hear from someone who had been relatively recently, but suspected that would not happen. Thanks.
Grand Luxe Cafe at Sawgrass any good?
It is basically a slightly fancier and pricier Cheesecake Factory, if that takes your fancy - it doesn't mine.
Romeo's Cafe
Has anyone eaten here? 27 for food on Zagat but I've never heard of it.
Barton G or Sardinia?
Personally think BartonG sucks. For Italian I would consider Casa Tua, while the other restaurant I think you are overlooking is Hakkasan. If it was me, I would drop Scarpetta and do both Hakkasan and Casa Tua.

Dine Out Ft. Lauderdale
Went to Johnny V last night. Like the above, we had to ask for the Dine Out Menu. Sadly, the menu selection was the best thing about this dining experience. The server was at best brusque. We both started with the tomato soup, which was nice and smokey. I am not sure how they could botch it, but mixed green salad I had was not good, boring and the greens did not taste fresh. My wife did enjoy the mushroom pancakes. She also enjoyed her yellowtail entree, and while my hanger steak was fine, that was all it was. Highlight of the meal, actually, was the sorbet dessert - some really delicious and creative flavors, but the chocolate cake was meh, and i only had a couple of bites.
Now we live a short stroll from Johhny V and are constantly lamenting the lack of decent dining options on Las Olas. We had been before, but not for several years. We were enticed by the Dine Out menu, and left disappointed and with no desire to go back any time soon.
The most pleasing part was actually when we were leaving - my wife reluctantly let the couple who had just been seated on the table next to us know there was a Dine Out menu (which they were surprised about). Now we were not sure if they actually would have wanted a 'discount' menu, but as we drove back past, we saw that they were looking at it, which brought a smile to our faces. Pay it forward:)

Dine Out Ft. Lauderdale
Agreed, worse than ever. Driving down Las Olas, it also makes my wonder why so many restaurants who are either new or do not appear to be doing well (or both) don't try and take advantage of this event to enhance their visibility and attract new customers who, if they have a good experience, would likely return for a full priced meal.
Dine Out Ft. Lauderdale
Agreed. Most places (and I include Miami Spice locations as well) tend to kind of hide the menu in somewhere in their main one without mentioning its existence. I always then have the feeling they are looking over my shoulder to see if I look at/for it.
Dine Out Ft. Lauderdale
To me, the only options that look enticing are Johnny V and Cafe Maxx. The rest just do not seem like good value or do not have good menu options. Market 17 is probably my favorite local restaurant, but you can already order half portions of all their entrees, so I would rather order what I like from the main menu.
