I hear ya - my take away was to be selective - requesting crusty brisket ("We requested a sauce free second plate with crusty pieces of brisket. This is where the Salt Lick shines. The brisket had a crust like no other with deep flavor and abundant sugar cookies. The meat was smoky, tender and moist with great flavor even without the sauce.")...also snappy sausage sounded alright but refrain on the ribs...

Looks like it depends...on when you go and what you order. Looking at the menu they do have cheaper choices for Breakfast and Lunch.
1/2 lb cheeseburger for $8 or 3 napkin meatloaf sandwich $9 with a choice of side. Omelette $6....
If you get there before 6 looks like they have special fish dinners(1/2 lb of seafood potatoes vegs with soup and salad) for under $15 - some may consider that a cheap eats for good seafood/fish.

Keeping in mind that one can still eat on the cheap in places that may be considered pricey by carefully selecting cheaper dishes sharing apps salads skipping desserts expensive drinks and so on...

I concur. Not the same since Ryan left and place misses his oversight...Chen is overwhelmed. We've stopped going. Let me know please when he returns....I would recommend only going during the week . Buffet is a mistake anywhere.
