New Microbrewery to open in Atlantic Highlands

I believe the talk after the hurricane was of the Twin Lights Tap House moving into that space, which would have been great. The only problem is that liquor licenses don't transfer between towns.

The new brewery is called Belford Brewing, not bistro (honest mistype!) here's a link to the facebook: https://www.facebook.com/belfordbrewi...

New Microbrewery to open in Atlantic Highlands

I heard it was going to be more of a gastropub, not a brewpub, but I'm pretty sure it will be good, knowing who the folks involved are.

Yesterday's in Hazlet.

No idea unfortunately. There was some construction going on at the new location, but on the last couple of passes by, there didn't seem to be anything going on.

Well, that answers that! Thank you for your review! I think I will sit idly by, and allow someone else to take one for the team!

Yesterday's in Hazlet.

My go-to Ciao Bella has been closed for a while, during relocation. Maybe I'll 'take one for the team', and report back.

Yesterday's in Hazlet.

I know a few people who go to Yesterday's quite a bit, but I'm not sure if I trust their judgment. Any 'hounds have an opinion?

What time did you go? Maybe the couple who were seated 45 minutes after you got the dinner menu, while your party, and everyone else were having lunch. btw, how was the food that you did get?

Where is the best mexican restaurant in Monmouth County?

Their menu has changed over the years. I believe the change was per-hurricane, more post liquor license. The menu is undoubtedly more Tex-Mex, and less authentic Mexican. With that in mind, I really didn't care for the Tex-Mex inspired 'Mexican Pizza', but did enjoy a special of chile relleno's, which was on of the best I've had, stuffed with chicken, almonds, and raisins, with a chipotle tomato sauce. This was also before the storm closed them for a while. I'm over due for a return visit, for the authentic dishes.

North of the Border remains my go to for Mexican. As others have posted, it's not an evening out place, just great food, to go, mostly for me.

Place in N New Jersey that serves a good ragu sauce?

On occasion The Black Forest Inn has been known to whip up a mean German Style Ragu.

Sandwiches in Monmouth County

Bevaqua's is still there, but I'm pretty sure the ownership has changed hands. The famed 'Bomber' really had no 'pop' to it. A microwaved hashbrown patty, an overcooked egg, a few slices of undercooked pork roll, and some cheese.
Bagel Time in Matawan, on the corner of Rt. 79 & 516 has been turning out a great breakfast sandwiches, on bagels of course.

Do you know if they serve Polish food, or anything close to it? I've heard that if you like German food, you will like Polish food too.

Jersey style crab cakes?

While they do have facilities in the U.S. Phillips is the largest importer of Asian crab meat, as well as Mexico, and South America.

Bayou Cafe - Manasquan... is it real?

I don't think it's real. Didn't the original owner sell it, then the new owners moved to Freehold? I checked the menu linked on yelp, and the pricing looks like it's from a while back. Most of the dinners are in the 15-16 dollar range. It's also the same menu as the old Bayou, complete with the fajita's.

Unsliced stuffing bread???

Sure they do, and the OP knows that. Here we have a case of "Look at me, I have my own food blog!" How can anyone have their own blog, that they actually sell food related items through, not know where to get bread that is a 'must' for their holiday meal?

Anyone interested in a Serious Sichuan Crawl ?........

Jing Chuan is actually in the Airport Plaza in Hazlet. You have to be careful about parking there for long periods of time, as there is a commuter parking lot across the street, and the Airport Plaza will tow.

Ada's Ethiopian

I wouldn't bank on the ham & cheese empanadas. On my last visit there, they didn't have ham for the Cuban sandwich. Didn't tell me either before hand, just no ham - or pickles.

Ground Beef

I know Sabato's in Belford/Middletown, grinds chuck to order. The chuck they have available is very lean, and when I asked the butcher if they would grind other cuts he said, "Sure, but I don't know why in the world you'd want to." I will leave that up to 'hounds interpretation, however, I've always been happy with what I've purchased there. Feel safe, eat that hamburger rare!!!
