Krakowiak Restaurant - Polish in South River NJ

Funny you should post this.... On my last visit, which was about 2 months ago, there was a strange guy sitting to the right of the counter. (if your back was to the door) The service was sucked, and I got the feeling that we were not wanted there. There was only one other table, obviously a regular by the waitresses familiarity with him. When we were finished with dinner, I went up to counter to pay. The guy on the right was staring at me. I presumed he was a manger of some sort, so I just nodded and said hello. He said nothing, and just kept staring. I was close to asking him if there was a problem, but I figured it would be best just to leave and write the place & their delicious food off. I'm going back.

Restaurant for a wedding in Central NJ

Wait a second... You actually wrote a review about a shower you were invited to? You do realize that someone thought enough of you to extend n invite, then you actually reviewed their party? I hope that your 'friends' didm't read the part about At the shower there was not even any booze offered", who knows, maybe they couldn't afford much more than a basic party package. I hope they apologized to you for the horrible time you had to endure.

I went to an anniversary party, not a wedding, on this cruise line. I thought it was a pretty good time. We only had passed appetizer tho, no dinner.

Sea Bright Fish Co.

An odd review corvette johnny. You seem to be excited for this place, but this was a more than generous review. if the lobster roll was 'just ok' and the coleslaw was 'bland as could be', you are being extra kind. I wish them well, and will check it out, but I'll let them rise above the ok mark first. (not to be confused with the =mark)

Did you actually read the post entries Paradise? Most of them aren't even about GC.

I guess I'm just going on the craft beer comment. I'm also trying to think of a place with great food that closed, and hasn't reopened. Other than Bay Ave. Trattoria, I can't think of many more. I'd also like to point out that I am thinking the of the Atlantic Higlands - Sea Bright area.

Gotta be Twin Lights Taphouse that you've been referring to. Great food & Beer, plus a royal fucking over by Sandy & landlord.

New Microbrewery to open in Atlantic Highlands

The people opening the place are pretty well established in the area. I think, while busier, one Summer season will have very little to do with their success of the place.

Taste Of Smoke BBQ Jackson NJ

That menu looks great for a BBQ joint, not too big. Smoked turkey? Sounds delicious, I don't remember seeing that on the menu at either Local Smoke or Jersey Shore. The grilled cheese sandwich looks like it might be worth arty as well - as long as it's house smoked bacon.

good food in strange places

This is what Chowhound is all about corvette johnny. Don't know if you've read the Chow manifesto, but here it is:

Chowhound's original manifesto:

Everyone has one in his life: the brother-in-law with a collection of 800 takeout menus, the co-worker who's late from lunch because she HAD to trek to one end of town for soup and to the other for a sandwich. Chowhounds know where the good stuff is, and they never settle for less than optimal deliciousness, whether dining in splendor or grabbing a quick slice.

We're not talking about foodies. Foodies eat where they're told. Chowhounds blaze trails. They comb through neighborhoods for culinary treasure. They despise hype. And while they appreciate ambiance and service, they can't be fooled by flash.

No media outlets serve Chowhounds. They've never had a place to gather and exchange information. This discerning, passionate crowd has long been completely invisible and utterly disenfranchised... until now.

If you, too, fret endlessly about making every bite count; if you'd grow weak from hunger rather than willingly eat something less than delicious, this place is for you! Welcome to our community. Let's talk. Let's swap tips.

You needn't be an expert to participate. If you're less food-obsessed than the rest of us, but have a yen for egg creams, gazpacho, or Quisp Cereal, let the resident hounds guide you to the best stuff. Follow (and chime in on) the rollicking discussion -- featuring thousands of messages from characters all over the world.

Maybe the place where you eat dinner at? I mean, you wouldn't think of going to a restaurant on a Saturday night, take up a table, and just order dessert would you?

Copper Canyon: Is it still good?

Funny, I believe that the lamb chops were also offered that night! I like the lamb at CC, but I don't think it's in the same class as the steak.

Copper Canyon: Is it still good?

You nailed it johnny. How about any nightly specials? On my last visit the special was a crabcake entree. two of the crabcakes on one plate. While I think the crabcake is tremendous, two appetizers on one plate, while it may be a dinner, isn't a special. Now I want a crab cake.....

It would be difficult for the Ye Cottage Inn to be open. All that is left of the place is a dirt patch across the street from the Keyport Fishery.

"I don't always eat steak, but when I do, I back it up with fried chicken & wings". Sounds like a plan.

Ok, now if we are bringing closed restaurants back, we really should start with Bay Ave. Trattoria.

groupon, restaurant.com, living social, amazon local etc?

Maybe the number of quality restaurants is down because the quality places don't need to offer discounts to get people in the door.
I'm not trying to be a wise ass with the comment, but I don't know why a restaurant that is worth going to, unless it's a new one, would offer a 1/2 off deal.

C'mon, it's crap. So is White Castle, but that doesn't stop people from eating a bunch of them once in a while. I don't want to hear about their "Buying Power" either. I can't go to a Costco and buy "all the steak and shrimp I can eat" for 10.99. I wonder what grade the steak is? I'm sure it would be the lowest grade fit for human consumption.

Best Restaurant for a Birthday near Monmouth County

First off, I can't believe that I misused 'your' wrong so many times in my previous post. I've been enjoying Solo Trattoria in Freehold lately. Nice Italian place with good pasta dishes. I don't really know of anything in Marlboro that I would could suggest.

Which part of Monmouth County are you near? If your near Freehold, I'd recommend Solo, If your near Belmar I'd recommend Brandl, if your near Keyport, I'd recommend Drew's, If you're on a boat near Sandy Hook I'd recommend Copper Canyon, or the new place Fresh. Four corners of the county. Didn't mention any places in the middle though.

Reyna's Mexican Restaurant - Tinton Falls

I agree =Mark, and I agree that that is the way it's usually presented to us here in NJ. James' profile states that he is from the Great State of Texas, and while I enjoy reading his take on it, (which may well be correct) it's not the way it is around here.
