Non-ravioli use for egg roll wrappers
I find the egg roll size sheets will fit side by side in a 9X13 pan. I use them as no-bake lasagna noodles. Confession: I made a pan of spinach, portabello and garlic lasagna with all sorts of cheeses (ricotta, asiago, mozzarella, romano, parmesean) recently, and within about 4 days I devoured the whole damn thing myself over several lunches and dinners. Not so great for new years resolutions, but great for my wallet. You could use any sort of fillings or sauces of course, I just baked at 350 until the cheese on top was nicely browned (~30 min).
Fried whole belly clams
My boyfriend LOVES fried clam bellies, and we have been hunting for the best spots along I-95 to stop for lunch or dinner as we travel between New York City and Newport, RI. We've gone to Sea Swirl in Mystic, CT (meh, maybe we got them on a bad day?), Jimmy's in West Haven (pretty good) but nothing has been able to top Flo's Clam Shack in RI. Any recommendations? We're traveling again next weekend.
Newport, RI, restaurants
I glutted myself on the seafood there this past weekend. Their portion sizes have gotten a touch smaller this season, but their quality is still top notch. The seafood is always fresh, and most dishes well executed - though there are some standouts for me personally: the Sicilian littlenecks, lobster fra diavolo, scallops scampi, linguini with clams (white sauce), the broiled scrod... so tasty!
Savoia
I just had a great brunch there today! It's out of my neighborhood, but so worth the effort.
desperately seeking good pizza 33st and 5th ave south slope/sunset area
Hi neighbor! I'm looking for the same... our little area is grossly bereft of good pizza it seems...
Italian family style
Piccolo Angolo on Hudson at Jane St is affordable and delicious. The portions are large and perfect for sharing. Large groups are always well received there, and the house wine is both affordable and tasty.
Pizza SNAFU ... the horror.
Yes!! I'll admit to doing the same, making a big batch of kraft mac and cheese, and putting ketchup on it... or sriracha sauce. Very guilty pleasure.
Report: NYC carpet baggers make 2 Chow stops on CT roadtrip
If Willington is not too far off your path - about 15 minutes off of 84 at exit 68 - I highly recommend Willington Pizza House. They make some of the tasiest pies on the east coast. I used to eat there all the time when I could afford it, as a UConn student. You can get directions from their website (www.willingtonpizza.com) as well as menu items.

I HAVE FOUND THE BEST VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT IN NYC!!!
This was an excellent tip. I ate there not too long ago and was very pleased with the food and the obscenely cheap bill. I didn't try anything too extravagant, however the dish I did have (grilled shrimp over vermicelli) was fresh and tasty enough to pique my interest for further meals. I treated a friend for dinner and barely spent over $20, which included an iced coffee, a shared appetizer and two main dishes. I'll definitely be going back.
