Toms River's farmers market

I have been going to the farmers market at Huddy Park in toms River for the past couple of years and although it is not like the Union Square market or the Reading terminal it's pretty terrific for what it is. I would say they have about 20 vendors everything from a pickle lady to an organic farmer. Over the past couple of weeks I've had wonderful fingerling potatoes from the organic farmer, great bunches of wild flowers for five dollars, New Jersey blackberries and absolutely delicious yellow watermelon. There's also a guy who has raw milk cheese and organic grass fed pork which I plan to pick up next week. There is a bread guy, a honey lady, an Eastern Europepean bakery a vendor who sells a terrific amount of different nuts, my current favorite party hot spicy Cajun Peanuts. I've purchased beets, dandelion greens really great peaches and of course the corn is at its peak right now.
The market takes place on Wednesdays at Huddy Park in downtown toms River I believe the hours are 10 to 5 and there's free parking.

Anyone Tried The Scone Shoppe Point Pleasant NJ

Hey shabbystorm, I stoped by the Scone place on bridge ave today. It is a really nice family run business, the kind of place I like to support. They offer tea sandwiches as well as a great variety of scones. I would say it is set up like a tea shop everything is served on real China and I will definitely go back to have something there. I picked up four scones to bring home, chocolate, white chocolate, apricot and nut and a white chocolate and cranberry. The scones were absolutely terrific and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I have never had such scones and my wife and I could not stop eating them. They are very very buttery, almost like a sugar cookie on the outside and a really great texture on the inside.

Annual Chef's Night Out - Toms River

We went to this years chefs night out and had a fun time. I guess there were fifty chefs this year, down a bit from last year because of the snow. As i posted before a great time ate for almost four hours, also had a few beverages. I am trying to get the results of the judging. The only one I am sure of is Atlantic bar and grill won peoples choice. They served a scallop slider that was teriffic. When i get the other results I will post them.

Pierre Chocolat - Wall, NJ

I went to Peters last Friday and was delighted. It was so good I went back today and was again blown away. I am not , or did not think I was, a chocolate fiend. That seems to have changed , the orange chocolate trufles have got' hold of me. I also had a porkroll sandwich and some teriffic gumbo. What a great day

Karen and Irv's Hot Pastrami Deli in Brick?

I started going to go to irv and karens when it was in toms river. We had lunch there at least once a week for about 15 years. My favorate is the hot corned beef, russian dressing and cole slaw on teriffic crusty rye. Bowls of pickels and cole slaw on the table and just enough attitude so you know you are not in Kansas anymore. Also good soups and breakfasts.

Annual Chef's Night Out - Toms River

I think that this is an event that goes on every year. We went last year, about 60 chefs, lots of beer and wine. Some of the chefs were the tops in the area. Atlantic bar and grill, bistro 44, Joe Leone all in all a good value, Fifty bucks.
