Rehearsal Dinner for around 20 people in Santa Monica close to the church

Lares on Pico Boulevard is a great place for groups. Killer Mexican for sure. And it's owned by a local family.

Pizzeria Mozza - your thoughts

L.A. is filled with rude eateries. Father's Office's workers and policies are amazingly off the wall. There's even a modest little sandwich shop in San Gabriel called the Stuffed Sandwich where the workers mock you for not knowing "how to order." These are just three places like that off the top of my head. We shouldn't spend our money at places like that. Maybe that would send a message instead of just talking about.

santa monica restaurant to take out of towners?

If you want seafood, hit Santa Monica Seafood Company on Wilshire. It's where the locals go. I just discovered Fraiche, which is mighty nice. If you want Santa Monica, you should go to Bay Cities Deli. I know it is somewhat cliche to pick them, but there's a reason the legend looms so large over all other sandwiches.

Seeking Carne Asada marinade used by Vallarta Mart Mexican grocery store

Can't speak to Vallarta Mart, but most places use oranges (green Mexican if you're lucky) and bulk chili powder. Sometimes it is already mixed with salt. I add to it by pouring a lager into it for extra umph. I like a place called La Tapatia in El Sereno, but that's a bit far from Santa Monica.

Good lunch places in Santa Monica?

The Counter is pretty good. Awesome burgers. Tacos Por Favor is pretty good, too. Low end SoCal style Mexican. Can't really go wrong there. There's a little cafe at Bergamot Station that is pretty good, too. Read a good review the other day. Not sure of the name, though, but it's right in your neighborhood.

Birthday party for 30-something in west San Gabriel Valley?

My birthday is later this month and my mom is offering a top-notch dinner that is kid friendly. My 5 and 3 year olds will be in tow along with my better half plus mom. Thinking Asian or Italian, but open to anything.

looking for the best ice cream in LA

Fosselman's in Alhambra is classic. Scoops is good, too, but I like old fashioned favorites.

Alhambra

You have to try Genoveses and Vitoria pizza. I prefer Genoveses. Also, try Tops Jr. and Pepe's on Valley. Bun 'n' Burger on Main is pretty good. Charlie's Trio is pretty good, too.

Casa Bianca is worth the wait

I had just played a round of golf at Scholl Canyon and my uncle and I decided to get a bite to eat. Our first thought was Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock. We made the short drive there and were not disappointed. After a bit of a wait — customary for the spot — we got a table in the elbow-to-elbow joint. We got a large pie with 'rooms, black olives, pepperoni and green peppers. There was a 15-minute wait, but once the pie came I realized this was the best pizza in all of L.A. We even passed on Oinkster to hit Casa Bianca. It had been a while since my last visit, but I just wanted to let all you hounds know that the place is still on point.

I often go to Joe's on Broadway in Santa Monica and even make it to Riva every once and a while, but I must say they have nothing on Casa Bianca. I sound like a commercial, but shoot, the pie was just so good I had to share.

If you like off the wall sodas, candy and beer, this is the spot for you.

Pasadena Recs

Wolf Burger, Pie and Burger, La Fiesta Grande, Mijares, In 'n' Out on Foothill. Outside of Pasadena. Try My Taco in HIghland Park. Surprisingly great.

Very Specific (Mexican)

Try El Arco Iris in Highland Park. Wait, not sure if they have a full liquor license come to think of it. La Fiesta Grande in Pasadena and South Pas do. Get the taco bar if you go. You won't be let down.

Mi Piace (Pasadena) - Reviews?

Wow, people really hate this place. I've always liked it. The pasta dishes always seemed fresh and the sauces were nice. OK, it ain't super authentic, but it works. Although, the prices could be more reasonable.

Need Help with Early Dinner in Alhambra

True, the place is a tight fit. Vittoria's on Valley might be better for a group that large. Bun 'n' Burger on Main Street is a pretty cool spot. It's near Granada. Twohey's on Atlantic and Garfield works. Get the onion rings if you do.

Most Overrated Beer?

Stella's a decent beer, admit it. Is it worth the hype? No. Is it worth buying at full price? No. Is it better than say, Miller High Life? Yup. On sale — and in context — it gets the job done.

Best Deals for good eats under $5 person

The samosas there are awesome. I think you can get two for less than five bucks, can't remember. Every time I go there I just place my order, pay what ever they ask and go home and enjoy what are possibly the best samosas in L.A.

Nah, Santa Monica Seafood Company is the spot. It's a fish market, but also has a small cafe. Not bad. It's on Wilshire.

Someone explain The Fascination with Tommy's and Pinks?

And you never will. It's just one of those things. Maybe you should lighten up a bit and take it for face value. Although I agree with Pink's, I'd say you are missing the point with Tommy's.

Santa Monica Seafood is pretty nice. Also in Santa Monica The Lobster, right by the pier is kinda a tourist trap, but you can't beat the food and the views.

You should also try to hit The Oinkster in Eagle Rock. It's in the northeast part of L.A. The condiments are made by hand and they have awesome beers.
