Where can I get Hutterite chickens in Calgary or area??
HI, know its a long time ago but how much are you getting the chickens for?In co-op they are between $19 and $25 but ive heard of getting for $10 each im wondering if they are like the big ones in co-op, i just dont want to get ripped off but am excited to try my first hutterite chickens!!
What Makes a Scone a Scone? [Moved from Home Cooking]
Im living in Canada and i swear when i first got here i was like 'what do you mean biscuits, they are scones man'!! And i do miss a good fruit scone. Any chance anyone has a good fruit or otherwise scone recipe for high altitudes, ive tried a few times now and they just dont rise like they did in europe, No shortening mind, good old butter in them will do me!! they have scones here too but they are flat and imo not a real scone!!lol!!And then some nice strawberry jam in the middle yum!!

Oh yeah, forgot about McDonaghs, lovely on a summers evening, defo the best fish and chips in Galway, and they do mushy peas too and cajun sauce, yum yum!
Calgary Safeways
Oh god, whats wrong with the fish in safeway, I just thought lately that 'geez the fish is cheap here thats great'! Are there horror stories?I know my friend bought some gamon steaks one day that were in the cheap section of safeway on 16th ave Nw and she went to cook them, it smelled more of pigs poop than what it should have, needless to say we did not eat it! UGH ! I think i do alot of pointing in Safeway comparing how its cheaper in the superstore!!

Its funny, I'm actually working at the CFM now! I do get a discount most places i shop in there but i find the only decent one i get is at the cupcake stand....and i am very happy about that!Disappointed that everything is so expensive, like i bought 3 pwppwers and green onions and even with my discount it was still $5.......!And the simple simon pies chheesecakes are to DIE for!YUMMY!
Looking for great food in Ireland

Living in Canada but only left galway 6 months ago. Well alll i have to say on irish not liking children is just as long as theyre not goin around screaming at the tops of their lungs or throwing food, things etc....we dont mind, lol!I'm trying to think of some good places for you to eat in the city.......i cant think of anywhere specifically that would be great for kids?More adults but there are a few casual eats like La Salsa, its is a mexican little place but you can get fries and burgers and that for the kids and they have seating upstairs and the kids mite like the brightly coloured walls. This is at the bottom of shop street, thats the main shopping street in galway!There is Supermacs, in the eyre square (i.e irish version of MacDonalds) , and Eddie Rockets (diner) on Abbeygate street just down from the Main post office in the city!Thats nice there, lovely food and lovely desserts and you can have a booth to yourselves!!Thats all i can think of .....if you going somewhere specifically in galway let me know and i can be more precise but i hope you get on ok and enjoy you holiday!!

Trying to be frugal this weather, ive subscribed to all the blogs. I was just wondering is it worth my purse money to go to the farmers market or shall i keep going to my superstore and avoid spur of the moment spending?
Best Delivery in NW Calgary?
I did try Spicy Hut there lately cos my neighbour upstairs had flyers and that was the only one he had that you guys had old me about!The delivery was really quick and the portion size was good the food id give it a 7/10, its was good for what i got, i did not have any complaints!Still have to try other deliveries yet, so far just pizza hut and the Panormas is not really one pizza its two smaller ones but nice and usually dominos cos thats what im used to having at home in Ireland but when i got a pizza by them lately i was a tad disappointed that they do not use cornmeal on their pizzas like they do in Ireland, oh well, i did make one the other night on that pillsbury pizza dough and i was most satisfied with it, i must say! Happy days either way!

just two months here and im dying to get maybe some chinese food delivered but i cant tell which are bad and which are good!The only thing ive tried so far is pizza and i hate when i look forward to it so much and when it gets here im disappointed, any suggestion, id love a good chinese!
Cheapest Superstores?
Thank you guys, the way to solve my problem is to get driving as the closest wallmart and pc superstores are opposite ends to me, the boyfriend usually professes 'its one or the other', i just think i could toggle the cheapness between the two!Wow i didnt know you had to py to join Cost-co!I would like to go there for the meat alrite!
I gave in to buying 6 chicken breasts for about 16 dollars last week, that still killed me as at homein Ireland we can get 5 breasts for 8 dollars!
Im not sure about the toilet paper thing Scarey bill, we bought a huge pack in pc Superstore last week, maybe a 6 x 4 pack and i thought that would last for ages but as it stands we have 1 x 4 left!Hope that doesnt mean we're full of ****!!!!Ha ha!

I was just wondering if anyone knows which of the superstores is the cheapest, so far i know safeway is the most expensive, eith or without the club card, i know its not a superstore but it is closer to my house!I have just moved here from Ireland and live in the north west part of Calgary!

I have registered with save.ca and every other company for coupons and discount etc...i love coupons!

Donuts (Calgary)
Does anybody know if there is a Krispy Kreme in Calgary, my boyfriend brings me to everywhere that does donuts and everytime im like 'nope' not good as krispy kreme, i know they have them in Ontarion!Im irish by the way, just moved here!Putting on the lbs anyway even though i havent found my donuts, lol!

Oh curries are a big no, no, i thin thats what got him to A7E, cos he had them two nites in a row, he does like the spelt bread n i try to keep it baked, potatoes, and he is ok with all meats, and im surprised he isint bad with tomatoes and lettuce, yes i keep him away from the very fibrous greens, i make up for it with the others- peppers, carrots, parsnip, turnip, green beans r ok for him...i have found a few websites. The doc said keep goin with the wheat-free, drair and sugar-free foods, cane sugar and dark choc hes ok with so he can hav a few luxuries...its variety i need for him.

thanks rockycat, i think the bromelain isint too bad cos its all natural, ive asked in the health shop and they say its ok to take it, i know what you mean tho.Does anyone have any recipes that are wheat, dairy and sugar-free that i can try out on him, i know its trial and error, i just hate givin him the same thing every few days.And i love cooking so.....i really could do with cuttin out the wheat and dairy myself but i love it too much, still i could just have potatoes...ha!

Thanks everyone, well my BF hasnt been fully diagnosed yet, he is going for more tests in a few weeks but they said its more than likely Chrons. I had him on green tea and manuka honey for the first few weeks while him being on wheat, dairy and dugar-free foods. He runs a bar so is very bust and it annoys me when i slave away over special foods and i see it in the fridge at the bar the following day and he says he doesnt have time to eat it. He has lost alot of weight since last August, he has lost 25 kilos, but he isnt too bad because he was a bit over-weight and had a very unhealth diet.I am trying to replace evrything in his diet, nutrient-wise that he is missing out on.He hasnt been prescribed any medications yet but i will be checking them out before he does as i hear that something they give him, mite dameage other parts of his body, we still have to see if he has to get any of his intestines removed yet, fingers crossed he doesnt. I have him on Bromelain for the inflamation and siberian ginseng just to help him out with the energy and stuff.I like my natural remedies.I'm gonna put him on iron and vitimin c supplements soon. He also used to eat about 3 peoples dinners in the one sitting, which didnt used to help him either!Thankfully he did not look overweight, he is tall. Anyway, he doesnt seem to be overly sensitive to alot of foods thank god. But i need ideas, i know its trial and error but because i am not on the same diet , it is hard for me to substitute sometimes and think of alternatives....All ideas or recipes or advice i am grateful for, i live in Ireland you see and our health system sucks.

Somebody help me please, I am at a loss, my boyfriend has chrons disease and my head isint what it used to be for ideas, and i have to restrict his diet of wheat, dairy and sugar and the guy loves his food. he is lucky i like to cook or he wouldn't eat basically. I let some things slide a little when it comes to ingredients but i could do with some help.If anyone has Any ideas, please let me know.
