Last of This Year's Hatch Pepper Harvest As of this morning, there was still a bin full of them at Central Market North. |

I ate at Texas Monthly’s Top 5 BBQ Pits in One Weekend. On my trip to Snow's a few months ago, I snapped photos of the bbq pits and the surrounding areas. One of the photos has a clear picture of a box that contained sausages. The label says that the sausage came from Texas Chaw Meat Products (Caldwell, Texas). Specifically, it is the beef and pork smoked sausage. I have no idea whether or not this is the same sausage served at City Market. |

I think scrumptiouschef was referring to his post about two-thirds the way down that page. |

Why don't you try the Wine Merchant on 6th? Here are just a few reasons I like the place: -The people there are wonderfully knowledgeable. I started out talking with John but after going there for a few years now, I feel comfortable with most. They might charge a dollar a bottle more than other places but I think that is well worth it for the care they take in selecting their wines. That being said, I think you can establish a good relationship with folks at an of the Spec's in town. They have very good selections, too, and at very reasonable prices. Other places like Central Market and HEB (in my case, the Hancock center store) will make very good suggestions if you look for their staff "picks." Whole Foods also has a good wine department but, like CM and HEB, it can be a little less personal. In my opinion, if you want good personal service, it's hard to do better than the Wine Merchant. |

El Milagro. |

I'd head over to El Milagro Tortilleria and buy them there. It's been a while since I've bought corn tortillas there but I'm addicted to their flour tortillas. 910 E 6th St - just a block or two east of I35 at the corner of 6th and San Marcos. |

Having just been to Snow's this past weekend, I highly recommend getting the fatty end of the brisket (I believe it's the point cut). Ask for it specifically and wait a little longer, if necessary. You won't be disappointed. It's not a bad idea to order from both ends to do your own comparison but, for me, one end was pedestrian and the other was sublime. Enjoy. |

Vegetarian options at BBQ pits? It's true and it's reportedly for tax issues and health care costs. |

Also a first post... I have it on good authority that it's going to be a pizza place. From what I understand, the alcohol permit is already in hand. |
