in Tokyo for 12 days! local favorites please!

I kept it broad partially because I just wanted to know what were personal favorites of locals.

Atmosphere does not mean much to us- we just really want yummy food! I'll definitely check out that Tonkatsu place that you recommended. Thanks so much!

What are these two local soba places you were mentioning?

in Tokyo for 12 days! local favorites please!

Hi guys!

Wondering if you could help me out here. My bf and I will be in Tokyo for 12 days- staying 6 days in Nihombashi (near Ginza) and 6 in Shibuya/Shinjuku. We're pretty adventurous eaters and want to keep an open budget on the eats.

What we need help with are local eats- we want your favorite ramen, yakitori, tankatsu (sp?), unagi, soba, sushi and sashimi in tokyo. Commuting is also no problem!

Here is what we have so far:

1) Chikuyo-tei Honten- we have a reservation
2) Birdland- we have a reservation
3) Esaki- we have a reservation
4) Sushi Mizutani- trying to get a reservation, but totally impossible as my japanese is truly weak. Will be trying again when we get into Tokyo.
5) Basanova
6) Tsukiji Market and sushi shops in the direct vicinity
7) Menya Kissou
8) Rokurinsha

... please add to this list please!!!!!!

As well, we want to know what is best to eat on Sunday. We've noticed a lot of places are not open.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recs in KoreaTowen (bloor, from bathurst to christie)

yeah you have to go to mul rae bang-a.. it is really delicious. You have to get this bacon-seafood spicy sauce thing that they make. Also their ka poong gi is really really good. Their kalbi is excellent too. It's definitely a little more pricey, but for what you're paying, you're getting excellent food.

Yonge and Gerrard eats

Yeah- I did mean Sam Woo the chain restaurant. Personally I really love Sam Woo (it's like a childhood favorite) so it's pretty exciting to see them branching downtown.

Yonge and Gerrard eats

The corner's always been a struggle but I think I've finally found something worth eating there. It's a place called Creasians. Turns out it's actually owned by the son of Sam Woo's restaurant owners- they bought the place a little while back and they've totally redone the kitchen and menu.

I had grilled short ribs on coconut rice- the meat was cooked nicely and had great flavour. My sister had beef teriyaki udon that was tasty too. All the dishes were plated nicely- I looked over at some of the other tables and their plates all looked great. Prices pretty reasonable.

Anyway, nice to actually see a promising place move into that corner. The guys that work there are pretty young but they seem to know what they're doing. Looking forward to going back.
