Seeking suggestions in Seattle
I wouldn't call Lark particularly romantic. Ambience is kind of plain. Food is great, though, and since you're both foodies, it'll probably make for a great start to an evening. Bon appetit (both before and after you eat...)
Quiet wonderful Seattle Restaurant
Make yr trip yet? If not, Nell's should be your first choice. You'll eat as well as at some of the best restaurants in NY, but for $50 apiece, not $150+. They also have a first-rate wine list, including $800 DRC burgundies, if you're so inclined. Plus plenty of great Washington wines and other lesser priced names, as well.
Nell's is the essence of the restaurant you described in your first post. I hope you see this before your trip.
Need restaurant tips for solo dining in Seattle
One of my faves is the 5:00-7:00 pm happy hour at Brasa, on 3rd. Half price (with a drink) on a VERY wide-ranging bar menu: paella, steak frites, salads, veggies, you name it. Check it on their website: www.brasa.com. The food is first rate, wines by the glass (or other drinks) are unique and well valued. Since you won't be on an expense account, this'll be a GREAT way to eat VERY well, for not that much money. I live here and am a regular at their HHr.
