Stroudsburg to Williamsport Saturday
Being the 17th; I imagine you already made your roadtrip. If you like beer warm or cold you might have enjoyed checking out the new micro brewery located off the Lightstreet exit of I80 at The Inn at Turkey Hill.

The Inn at Turkey Hill
991 Central Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815
Williamsport anyone?
Franco's if you want to sit back and enjoy the local atmosphere unfold. The Bullfrog Brewerey if you want to listen to late night live music Friday night (Ben Andrews) or a quiet afternoon micro brew on Saturday, or a very special jazz brunch on Sunday (arrive before noon to get a high top). Disalvo's, 33 East, Peter Herdic House , and Barrel 135 are all good if you want to spend the $'s. Check out Billtownlive.com for more entertainment options. Enjoy.
Mad Elf
For all the 'Mad Elf's' out there; Troeg's offers long sleeve Mad Elf t-shirts. It's my favorite! http://www.troegs.com/store/shop/category.asp?catid=12
Good Lunch Spot Around Troegs Brewery
McGrath's Pub offers decent pub food and a great selection of draft micro brews including Troeg's. www.mcgrathspub.net
Elk Creek Cafe in Millheim on Route 45
The Copper Kettle Brewery is a small brewery and not a brew pub. I sampled their beers at the festival held in Selinsgrove in July. Their website states where their beer is available in the Lewisburg area. When I am down that way again I plan to pick up a case of their beer which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Finger Lakes Weekend - please advise.
The Stonecat Cafe has a nice ambience and generally hosts a Sunday Jazz Brunch.
Harrison's @ State College, PA?
I ate lunch there in May. I patronized Harrison's a few times when they were located on North Atherton St. Being an out of towner I didn't know what happen to them when that location closed. Lunch was good. It's nice to know they are still in business.
Elk Creek Cafe in Millheim on Route 45
Took an early Sunday morning cycle ride to Elk Creek. Enjoyed a very nice Stout with a quiche and side salad special. Visited with a local at the bar who fronts a band that
plays at Elk Creek on a regular occassion. Nice ambiance, excellant food and beer. Stopped at the Bullfrog Brewery in Williamsport on the 145 mile loop to catch a bit of their Jazz Brunch and a coffee stout. A perfect trifecta Sunday ride would be the Selinsgrove Brewrey, Elk Creek, and then the Bullfrog with moderation of alcohol being the rule of the day.
Scotrun, PA Restaurants Near Great Wolf Lodge
While my nine year old son and his friends enjoyed the Lodge last year; the only thing that I could mutter: I have never spent so much money in a 24 hr period so close to home. Have fun and remember to pack a bag of treats and drinks. The room we had was furnished with a small frig.
Visiting Bethlehem
As a person who lives a 2 hour drive from the Lehigh Valley; I make the effort to visit The Farmhouse in Emmaus whenever I am in the area. www.thefarmhouse.com.
What's good in/around Lewisburg?
I forgot to mention Vic's Pub which appears to be a nice environment to spend some time. I visited only once on a quiet Saturday afternoon.
Also check out Byerly Meat Market located North on Rt 15. This is an one of those fast disappearing family owned meat markets that is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for butchering and processing. Their beef jerky is excellant.
If you have free time during the day on a Wednesday check out the Lewisburg farmer's market.
What's good in/around Lewisburg?
ck out www.rebaandpanchos.com. Possibly the best restaurant in a 30 mile radius.
also www.selinsgrovebrewing.com In it's size class the best in the state of PA.
My Summer of Canned Beer - A Brief Summary
I'll second Old Chub as well as Dale's Pale Ale.
Good Eats in Williamsport?
Once you get comfortable and understand that the laid back atmosphere of Franco's is for real you will appreciate the the fine establishment that the Daniele family run.
Once you get comfortable exploring the area check out:
Orlando's in Muncy: www.orlandosonline.com
Vics Pub in Lewisburg: www.thevictoriahouse.net
my favorite: www.rebaandpanchos.com (byob)
Good B-eats in Scranton?
After you realize that 80% of the townies don't understand why you are gaga about Scranton check out the Banshee, have a fine regional micro beer such as Troeg's or Dogfish and sit back and enjoy the day.
Is there anything worth eating on I-80 in PA?
I'll second the recommendation for Reba and Panchos. Great BYOB place for lunch or dinner. And if you drop down Rt 15 to Lewisburg check out Byerly Meat Market on the west side of Rt 15. I believe Byerly's is a third generation family business that processes alot of their own farm raised poultry and meat. Their beef jerky is worth the detour alone.
Looking for lunch off I-80 in mid-PA
Unless you are willing to commit to a two hour side trip into State College or Bellefonte; why don't you save time and money by packing a road side picnic lunch that you can enjoy at the rest stop a few miles west of Exit 147 for Snow Shoe. Use the money that you saved to bye some new music or subscribe to satellite radio. The trip across PA is long!
Diner near Trout Run
Are you referring to the Trout Run located near the intersection of Rt's 15 and 14 northwest of the Williamsport area? If so there is still a diner located in Trout Run. The name and quality of food elude me. The improvements in Rt 15 have taken Trout Run off the beaten path. Most travelers stop in Williamsport: Wegman's grocery store, Sheetz gas stations, the Bullfrog Micro Brewery, Franco's, Disalvo's, Pazzo's, and 33 East for dinner. Various hotels including the centrally located Genitti for lodging.
The evil of InBev
I believe InBev destroyed Rolling Rock beer when they sold the brand and the new owners moved the manufactoring line to New Jersey.
Finger Lakes Area
The Stone Cat Cafe in Hector, NY is very good. www.stonecatcafe.com
Penn State and Bucknell Recs
As one Gardner to another I would like to recommend Reba and Pancho's which is located on Rt 45 in Lewisburg. The restaurant advertises itself as a BYOB which is quite rare in this area. While on the expensive side for this area it is very good. At twenty five miles from my house it makes my top ten list within a thirty mile radius.

3 days in Baltimore
I was in Baltimore last week for a business conference and took the Water Taxi from the Inner Harbor to Fells Point. It was well worth the $ 8.00 fare. I had a great meal at Peter's Inn which was recommended in a previous Chowhound thread. I had the acorn squash and lobster claw soup and a entree that feature day boat scallops. As I was travelling by myself I sat at the bar. I will definitely return. If you make it to The Brewer's Art check out their micro brew called Resurrection. Enjoy
Wilkes Barre Scranton
I appreciate your input 'stanpnepa'. As a person who never leaves home without a small cooler permanently packed with restaurant reviews; I will take your recommendations into consideration. I hour east on Rt 118 and we are driving into the valley.
Thank you,
Good Eats in Lewisburg, PA
We have enjoyed Reba and Panchos which is a BYOB on Rt 45. You might not be familiar with the restaurant as I believe they opened last year. If you enjoyed the Blue Plate you not be disappointed. ck out: www.rebaandpanchos.com
Wilkes Barre Scranton
We always enjoy Grotto's pizza; perhaps it is the Rehoboth Beach connection. For whatever reason I haven't seen it mentioned on Chowhoud. They offer a half baked take out pizza. Four min's. in the oven on a pizza stone and it is better than home delivery.
Allentown to Shamokin is it really a wasteland?
Sad to say Shamokin/Mt. Carmel is. We specifically drove out of our way to eat at Mattuchi's. We were disappointed. The former Tag's in Williamsport was ten times better.
Williamsport/State College
The Bullfrog Brewery is now smoke free which makes the place more enjoyable. They brew a great selection of micro brews. The food is consistantly decent. Tonight might be a very busy night as the Little League World series wraps up this weekend. IMHO: The Bullfrog and Franco's, which is located three blocks down the street, offer the best bar/restaurant atmosphere in the Williamsport area. Living ten miles out of town those two are our go to spots for lunch, dinner, and atmosphere.
Quick response needed re: Williamsport eats
In addition to the Bullfrog I would also recomment Franco's Lounge. Both places have a great atmosphere.
