Where is the Coca Cola?

I bought Sprite, which is from the Coca Cola Co., with the yellow cap at Shop Rite, last week 5/$5. I am assuming they had the Coke, too. I've seen the KP Pepsi at Waldbaum's.

Mail order Kichel

I was curious if you had any luck with the mail order kichel. My grandmother in Atlanta, who grew up in Brookyn, would love to have me ship some to her too!

Is Kosher Cheese also Vegetarian (i.e. without animal rennet?)

It's funny for me that this question came up now. I am also a vegetarian. A few days ago I spoke with a Rabbi about this issue. The kosher cheeses that have an OU, OK, Kof K etc. or are cholov yisroel, if they use rennet at all, it is always vegetarian. They do not believe that the rennet or gelatin that is animal derived (and listed as kosher rennet or gelatin in many cheeses or yogurts under K supervision) is kosher even after it goes through so many chemical changes. As long as you purchase the above mentioned cheeses you will safely be staying within your vegetarian guidelines, and find many wonderful cheeses available to suite your needs and taste.

Where can I get here in America KOSHER KINDER EGGS from Israel?

Do you know of any places in Israel that will ship kosher kinder eggs? And if they do, do they have a website? Also, do you know of any small candy shops in Israel that have their own websites?

Bagel Cafe on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn

I think you are speaking of Oh Bagel. I have tried a few of their food items and thought they were delicious, though expensive, compared to the other bagel stores in Flatbush. It's definitely worth a try when you're in the area.

Good Kugels in Brooklyn, for a Kiddush

Gourmet on J has so many different sweet and non sweet kugels to choose from. My favorite is a parve cream cheese kugel. It's quite rich and tastes dairy. They have many kugels already in tins, ones that you can purchase by the pound from large ones and even potato kugel in individual tins. Let me know what you think if you try it.

Restaurants open for Rosh Ha Shanah-Manhattan

I know that Chabad is having services at the Waldorf Astoria and the meals are being had at the Prime Grill. Try calling to ask if anyone can sign up for holiday meals there.

New fruit for Rosh Hashonnah

Can anyone recommend a new sweet, delicious fruit for the holiday? Every year I spend an arm and a leg for a tiny fruit that no one in my family will eat.

Honey Cake for New Years

You can pick up a Reisman's honey cake, which is packaged, in most supermarkets in NY. Their cakes and cookies are amongst the best packaged, kosher ones that have a good rabinnical supervision. If you want a fresh honey cake, I would recommend Chiffon's bakery on Coney Island Avenue bet. J & K in Brooklyn. They sell honey cake throughout the year. It is quite moist and can be bought with and without nuts on top. They will slice it for you, too!

King David's Garden on Avenue J

It's actually going to be a florist. I was told by someone who owns property on Ave. J. If you pass by you will see signs in the window looking for "flower girls" for the store.

Pre Yom Kippur Fast Dinner

Your best bet is boiled chicken from a hearty chicken soup. It's fast and simple and can be enjoyed with a little ketchup on the side. I make it a day or two befor the fast so that there is time to skim the fat off of the soup. I use lots of herbs, instead of salt or seasoning, for flavor. I wouldn't make any flavored roasted chicken dishes. They are bound to make anyone thirsty. Pasta is always a good, filling side dish.

Mushroom Shaped Challah Rolls in Brooklyn

I stopped in at Chiffon's on my way home from work, as I usually do at least 3-4 times a week. I found out that the mushroom rolls are made every Thursday and Friday in egg and water styles. There is usually a limited number of them so I was told that you should special order them the night before, even if it's only for a small number of them. They will put them aside for you with your name. Try them. You probably won't go anywhere else after you do.

Mushroom Shaped Challah Rolls in Brooklyn

Chiffon's bakery on Coney Island Ave. bet. J&K in Brooklyn makes those. I think you are refering to simcha rolls. I know that they make all challahs in egg or water , especially on Thursday. They aren't dry or tasteless! They even make challahs in the shapes of animals or you can special order ones in other shapes, like I did a few weeks ago for a friend's surprise party. Their # is 718-258-8822. Enjoy!
