Please help me schedule these chickens!

Thanks ... I'll either do Zuni or steam with soy sake and ginger.

Please help me schedule these chickens!

I'm roasting 3 chickens and need as much done in advance as possible, as guests arrive just a few hours after I'm home from work. What's the best way to accomplish? Can I roast them the day before and reheat (whole)? I don't mind serving them cold, if that will be tasty, as it's a garden party. Tips and suggestions much appreciated.

Your disappointing purchases from Costco

Bought a large pack of bacon only to discover at home in small print that it's "maple-flavored." It has a vile artificial smell and taste ... should have kept the receipt and returned it.

Recipes that use A LOT of Karo syrup?

Thank you! They have a search for "1 cup" recipes. Looks like people will be getting peanut brittle soon!

Recipes that use A LOT of Karo syrup?

Well, that pantry DID need cleaning. I find that I have three count 'em three bottles of light Karo syrup. Does anyone have recipes that will help me get rid of this bounty in a hurry? Candy would be ideal, because then I can send it to work with The Guy. Thanks!

your best zucchini fritter/zucchini rosti/zucchini patty/zucchini latke/zucchini pancake recipes- what herbs & spices do you like to use?

Just posted this in another thread but these are delicious, and freeze really well. I usually up the spices quite a bit.

savoury zucchini / courgette / summer squash recipes that freeze well, that would only require reheating later?

I absolutely love these zucchini "crab" cakes, and they freeze and reheat (even in the microwave!) well. I usually make them dollar-sized - a couple make a nice light lunch.

What's the best way to transport scone dough?

We're spending the weekend with friends who love my scones. I'd like to make some for Sunday breakfast, but not sure if they have a food processor. (Essential, to me, for cutting in butter.)

Could I cut the butter into the dry ingredients tonight, and transport that (in a cooler) for the 4-hour drive tomorrow? Then I could refrigerate, add the wet ingredients Sunday morning and bake them up fresh, but worried the moisture in the butter might react with the baking powder.

Wondering if this would be better than trying to transport the frozen wedges. Suggestions, please?

Shelf life of opened bottle of vinegar

It should be fine. You could also infuse a few smaller bottles with herbs; those would make nice gifts.

Making your own Campari?

Please correct if this should be in the "Home Cooking" board. I've made limoncello and irish cream pretty successfully, and looking to branch out. One of my favorites is Campari ... but googling for recipes yields nothing.

Anyone made anything Campari-ish? Thanks.

Driving north from FLL -- any good places for late lunch/early dinner?

Hello,
We'll be getting into Ft. Lauderdale mid-afternoon and driving to Cocoa Beach ... any good stops along the way? No fresh seafood in the Rockies to speak of, so that's what we're looking for.

Thanks!

Long layover at Fort Lauderdale airport, anything chow worthy?

The reviews for Anthony's Runway 84 make me think even the airport is a better bet.

Denver Restaurant for a Solo Dinner, Maybe Asian?

Domo has sushi but also just really good Japanese home cooking, great at this time of year.

Anyone cook with sherry?

Sherry adds a lovely depth to so many dishes ... try a splash in gravy, and it's a must with sauteed mushrooms. I don't refrigerate and go through a bottle or so a year ... stores fine.

NB: Under NO circumstances buy anything labeled "cooking sherry." Especially at a grocery store.

Driving from Ft. Lauderdale to New Smyrna Beach, good chow?

Sweetie and I are planning a Space Shuttle road trip, flying into Fort Lauderdale and driving up. Will be in New Smyrna Beach/Cocoa Beach for a week. I found the excellent NSB recommendation, but where shall we eat to and from the Ft. Lauderdale airport? Thanks!

Throw in a tiny dollop of fish sauce and a generous bit of chopped cilantro and you're golden.

Recommendations in Rangoon?

Hi vieux_carre,

I'll be there in mid-April and will take notes ... first trip to Rangoon and would appreciate any more recommendations that you have! Thanks.

Never been to the Keys!

It's been a few years, but Seven Fish and Louie's Backyard, both in Key West, are 2 of the few restaurants whose names I can remember from my travels, and are both in my top ten. (I write food and travel, so I've had a good meal or two.) Enjoy!

MIA at midnight?

I'll be arriving MIA at midnight, catching a hotel shuttle, flying out the next morning. Will anything be open in the airport proper, or should I pack a picnic? On the return, I arrive at 8:00 p.m. also no car also flying early, but would like to get a good dinner not too far from MIA. Thanks!
