Just moved to East 60th Any Recommendations?

Some suggestions
Felice for nice Italian at 64th and 1st- fun, suprisingly trendy for the UES, lovely service, DELICIOUS ravioli
Bistro 61- casual French fare at 61st and 1st- never a wait, never need a reservation
Indian... still looking
Groceries
- I like gourmet garage- 64th between 1st and 2nd
- Others like the food emporium under the 59th street bridge, but I find it chaotic to shop there because of the way the store is laid out; however, nice selection of produce and gourmet items

Another tip- nice, small farmers market on 67th between York and 1st on Saturdays.

haven't been, but my foodie friends have raved about Tiella- 1st, between 60 and 61st

If you are into Sushi, Sushi Sekki is out of this work- 1st and 64th, I believe

Enjoy the move!!!

Good thai on the UES

Any suggestions? Used to go to Lucious Thai but have been less impressed with it lately. The further east, the better- neightborhood is 60's and 70's.

Most Impressive Restaurant in Manhattan?

second the four seasons- simple, beautiful, classic. went there for the first time at 17 (which was quite some time ago) and its a model that I compare all elegant restaurants to

best tapas in manhattan

I second Las Ramblas- amazing food, even when busy. Service is warm and friendly. Lovely wine list! It might be (dare I say it) one of my favorite places to go out for dinner in Manhattan.
Also, recently went to Ata recently- very different style of tapas, but we were a large group and tried probably about 35 dishes, ranging from good to amazing

Thoughts on Convivio?

Thanks for posting! My husband and I went last weekend and heard nothing but raves about it. As we don't get out often, we had really been looking forward to the experience. While the ambiance was lovely and the service very good, we were both disappointed by the food. I had the crab and sea urchin pasta and found it good, not great. The salt cod and potato ravioli with pancetta were actually undersalted in the filling (although how that happens with salt cod is beyond me!). The chick pea soup was good, but nothing special. My scallops as my main were well cooked, as was my husband's lamb chops, but nothing really special. Surprisingly, the desserts were quite good- one of the better parts of our meal! We still had a lovely night out and enjoyed the dining scene and fine service but overall the dining experience was lacking. I was wondering if it was just a bad night, but seeing similar reviews makes me feel validated!

Where to buy cake flour...

I asked in all places- they told me they dont carry it- I was shocked!

Need good restaurant near 58th and 3rd? and near Lincoln Center

Bistro 61 on 61st and york is good and never too crowded.

Where to buy cake flour...

Food Emporium, Gristides and Gracies Marketplace- will try the food emporium under the bridge and gourmet garage tomorrow. Was just surprised that it wasn't a routine grocery item! Maybe I was just having bad luck

Where to buy cake flour...

Anyone know where to buy cake flour on the upper east side? I've tried 3 groceries so far and none of them have it! I wasn't aware this was such a specialty item!

Went to Antibes on the LES recently- reasonably priced, romantic and chill

looking for a restaurant for visiting parents who have opposite-ish tastes

The only one of those places I have been to is Giorgio's; I can vouch for the food, service and pricing all being great; I have only had the pasta there (and the mac and cheese, which is delicious) but I went there with a group of 10 people and everyone was happy with their mains (and it was a fairly diverse group- Kosher style, vegetarian, gluten free, carnivores, etc) so it seems as though they do everything fairly well. It is a lovely setting and I would highly recommend it.

The Smith recs

Chips with blue cheese- not fancy but very satifying!

Italian restaurant needed for birthday date

Spigolo- 81st and 1st. Not too pricey, romantic, great service and delicious

9th Ave between 55th and 50th looked awesome: what do you like there?

Second Nook- but often need reservations.

Eatery ok- had good mac and cheese

Dinner with mom who is staying on the UES and a good friend my age (25)

Spigolo at 81st and 2nd- delicious food, cozy atmosphere.

Also, for the older crowd, Square Meal- 92nd and Madison- just opened up a lovely outdoor dining space in back; all enclosed so its quiet and the furniture is brand spankin new, so clean and comfortable. And its BYOB if your friend needs some liquid consolation

Last childless birthday...

I'm turning 30 in a month and a half and will be 8 months pregnant. My parents have generously agreed to take us out to a lavish "last meal" before I deliver. I was very interested in Babbo and Perilla but neither of them will take reservations this far in advanced and was looking for another option so "lock in" a reservation. Price should be ~60-90 per person (plus wine) and nice service and ambiance is a must (my folks don't like the crowds and noise that often accompany trendier restaurants! All of us are very diverse eaters- willing to try anything. Any one have suggestions to get the most out of this meal? Thanks!

Office Party (25 people) - Restaurant Suggestions?

Le Zie in Chelsea- has an upstairs room that can be used for parties and is a sort of trendy place but good food!

popping the question, just need a setting

After all these posts I'm dying to know... How did it go?

date #2, UES near 2nd Ave/88th

Recently went to Kurio and loved it! Thanks fo rthe rec!

Here's what I like. Can you suggest others?

Went to Kurio a few weeks ago. Was a little nervous when I walked in, as the place was nearly empty. But the hostess was charming and the place filled up as the evening passed. The food was delicious and the homemade donuts for dessert were AMAZING! They took a little while to come out, but it was well worth the wait, as it was clear that they had just been fried to order. The pace of dining was slow, but the food hot, which led me to believe everything was prepared in that same vein. Highly recommend for a cozy, slow dinner with company you enjoy.

Best Burger above 55th St?

Soupberg! Delicious!

BYO Tapas in Manhatten

A Casa Fox
173 Orchard St, New York 10002 (Btwn Allen St & Ludlow)
Decent tapas, really liked the empanadas
Charming fireplace in the winter (although obviously not as good in the summer) and reasonably priced.

Four Seasons Restaurant

Food is good, lovely ambiance and amazing service- all in all, a lovely dining experience

kefi

Food is good, not great. Ask to sit downstairs, which is nominally quieter, but much warmer decor. The place can get quite loud and quite crowded, though

date #2, UES near 2nd Ave/88th

Square meal is delicious but it is also BYOB

Family friendly brunch

Thanks- that looks great!

Favorite BYOBs?

Also, really like "Square Meal" on the UES

Favorite BYOBs?

Second the nook!

Family friendly brunch

Although I really like the Smith (was just there last week!), I was hoping to go someplace a little nicer (although I realize that might not be possible with the little ones- let me know what you think). The price range is only an approximate- it can be definitely be increased

Family friendly brunch

I'm trying to plan a birthday brunch for my 30th in October (yes, preparing ahead of time). My party is 8 people plus my nephew and niece (who will be 1 year old and a 5 months old). Looking to spend about $30 per person plus drinks. Preferably on the UES but another option is Union Square area (since it is central for everyone to get to). Since I am new to the "family dining" experience, I was wondering if anyone could suggest someplace nice but not inappropriate to bring children to. Thanks!
