" Taylor's Shellfish, Queen Anne " - A wonderful and delicious Luncheon experience

Ah Abalone. I only eat it once a year, at the family abalone feed after the river run on the tree farm in NorCal, when our friend 'Abalone Bill' trucks them in from Fort Bragg. Bill is good friend to have!

That being said I'm so glad you enjoyed Taylor Shellfish in Queen Anne. I took a friend who is an avid oyster fan for his birthday and immensely enjoyed it. Our server even gave me a small sample of both ends of the geoduck because I had never tried it before, every oyster we had was pristine, and every single one of their staff was a delight.

Terry Avenue Saturday Market Opening Day

Oh man sheep's milk cheese is my JAM! Allergic to Cow & Goat & Soy Dairy growing up pecarino was the only cheese I got in my rural town. When I found french sheep's milk Feta at Costco I was ecstatic. Will have to check it out!

Sunday lunch, downtown, with kids

I never have to wait around that time, but I only go weekday lunch. I'd say opening is a safe bet, but the high stools might pose a problem for smaller kids. Maybe try Palace Kitchen? It's only a block away, has pretty decent food (I admit my weakness for the woodfired oven trout, having spent a childhood trout fishing then grilling it on a campfire, it hits me right in the nostalgia), and I think the atmosphere is pretty fun.

Best Sandwich at Tat's?

The Hot Beef is my favorite. It's like a french dip with hot peppers, and I'm a sucker for a good french dip.

aloha all- specific happy hour request

I can't remember exactly, but I know I had a prosecco and some treasure cove oysters that were on special. I think they choose a few types of oysters and a few house wines and a couple of small plates. I think most things are still regularly priced. I really enjoyed it though. Our shucker gave me a sample of geoduck unprompted just because I mentioned I had never tried it before.

If you *just* want Oysters & Clams there's a Taylor Shellfish Bar right by Seattle Center that has a 4-6pm happy hour: http://tayloroysterbars.com/locations...

seeking szechuan spicy goodness

Sichuanese Cuisine does a good Sichuanese Boiled Fish, and I like their Hot Beef Chow Mein.

Goat meat in Seattle

University district Farmer's Market there is usually a guy that sells goat. Otherwise seek out Halal butchers, I usually get it at the one on Lake City Way, or out in Redmond... I can't remember the actual names of the stores!

Breakfast and Lunch Places Open on Thanksgiving Day

Lola will be open for sure, good for breakfast. It will be packed, so try to get a reservation if you decide to go there. The 5 Point will be open if you want my favorite chicken fried steak in town.

A Walrus and the Carpenter sanity check

I've done this walk and it's not terrible. The #40 does indeed run along this route, carry $2.50 each in case you have enough of the industrial yacht views :)

If you were looking into microbrews, you might want to check out Brouwer's (http://brouwerscafe.com/draught.pdf) on the way. It happens to be across the street from a chocolate factory that you can tour, if you're into that type of thing (https://www.theochocolate.com/).

Buffalo Chicken Wings

Cooper's Alehouse (Maple Leaf) <--good execution
The Attic (Madison Park) <--best sauce in town
Leny's (Green Lake) <--these are breaded, so kind of different
Yardhouse (Downtown) <--this is a chain but the wings are decent
Wingdome (Phinney Ridge) <--I think there's one in Kirkland?
Twilight Exit (Central District) <--they have two kinds!

Sorry all of mine are on the Seattle side of the lake. I rarely take that bus ride over the water. My buddy and I have a neverending quest for good chicken wings.

Drinking and Eating in Ballard-Fremont area

If you wanted something really new you could pop into Tray, which opens tomorrow. Obviously I haven't been there yet but the menu looks really interesting and it's right in the ol' freeballing neighborhood.

PS. Sorry for smoking under your window.

What to bring back to Texas and restaurant recommendations (Capitol Hill, South Lake Union)??

I'll add products from Peek's Pantry and Britt's Pickles as local products to check out:
http://www.peekspantry.com/products.html
http://www.brittsliveculturefoods.com...

I keep pretty much all of PK's products on hand, and always get kimchi & kraut from Britt's.

Also as a note Salumi's meats are available (along with a ton of other great things) at DeLaurenti's in the Pike Place Market.

Along with PK's hibiscus soda there are a few great local ones:
http://rachelsgingerbeer.com/
http://www.seattleseltzer.com/

Checking out Cone & Steiner might be a good call too.

Oh you mean Old Earl's. I agree with you there. All of the old regulars migrated on to the Blue Moon or the Knarr or other dives.

I'm sad that they're closing (have closed? Haven't been by recently) Moon Temple, as well.

Earl's on the Ave is still there. Or it was on Friday, at least.

The Streamline became my new home when I moved to LQA, so I hope it can maintain it's character after the move.

I would cry many tears if the Boxcar or the Blue Moon closed.

20somethings in Seattle need recos!

Damn the Weather in Pioneer Square for drinks.

RIP Roslyn's Brick Tavern

Aw man! I stop for a bloody every time I go through (on your recommendation, I believe).

LOL at "Hell's Rotarians" though.

Pioneer Square roundup

They've moved pretty quickly the two times I've been. I went early though, so I'm not sure about later. I loved both the potato topping and the fig & goat cheese topped pieces I've tried.

suggestions for food & drink spots for a vegetarian and a non seafood fan

Revel in Fremont. Great food, lots of veg and non-seafood options. And since you're big belgian beer fans, go across the street to Brouwer's afterwards.

Headed to Seattle and looking to eat!

WHAAAAAAAAAAT okay good to know that the Ballard location is open Sundays. To be perfectly honest I usually eat mine with my feet in the water at the secret beach :)

Headed to Seattle and looking to eat!

Salumi isn't open on weekends and Paseo is closed Sundays. They'll be busy on Saturdays, but a Havana Seared Scallop Sandwich (5-star heat) was always worth calling in when I lived a few blocks away in Fremont. The forecast looks pretty good for the weekend, so I would call in to the Shilshole location ahead, and pick up to go picnic at Golden Gardens. OR call the Fremont location and picnic in the Rose Garden by the Zoo.

Walrus & Carpenter doesn't take reservations, and there's usually a bit of a wait.

Good BBQ in Seattle?

Not so fast... https://www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...

"Jack's BBQ will be closed for dinner this week and next , except for tonight and Roem Baur ticket holders this Saturday. Still open for lunch Tues-Sat. Need more cooks and floor staff!!!"

So I guess they've been busy, at least?

Toronado

I've been to the SF location several times when visiting friends, and the San Diego location countless times when I lived within walking distance of it. The Seattle location is definitely bigger and fancier. I didn't try the food, but our bartender was very nice and knew his beer. I got to try a few things that I haven't seen since I lived in CA, both of which were as good as I remember. I'll have to go back to try the food.

Toulouse Petit - any other restaurants a visitor should try?

It's hard to beat the view of the water at Westward. It's a lake view, not ocean though. Elliott's on the pier for Oyster Happy Hour if you're an oyster fan and can get there at 3 for a spot in the bar. Ray's has a good water view from the Cafe, but the food isn't particularly special. I do love to go for happy hour if I have a weekday afternoon off and get the manila clams, and soak up the broth with their good Columbia City bakery rolls.
