Do any Sichuan restaurants use whole, good-quality peppercorns here?

What are you ordering?

The Athenian at least has pretty views :) Weekend breakfast bartender pours some stiff bloody marys too.

Lively? Take a ride up the hill to Quinn's, maybe?

If you wanted to combine your lust for REAL sandwiches with your search for good Asian, you should seek out Bahn Mi (Vietnamese sandwich). The downtown Pho Cyclo makes a good one and would be within walking distance.

Another good walking-distance lunch option would be to head down to the Market and grab a sandwich from Zaccagni’s, or DeLaurenti, or Market Grill, there are a ton of choices!

About 1 1/2 years, I guess. I always called the order in and picked up for lunch. Oddly, the one time we ate in for dinner it was not very spicy. Maybe they adjust for the Microsoft lunch crowd?

* Sichuanese Cuisine (Redmond)

I used to work right by there, and every time I ordered the chili fried chicken there were a handful of whole salty blooming spicy peppercorns among the fried onions and chicken. I loved picking them out and chomping on them whole!

Seattle's Best Sandwiches

My 21th century approach is to set up a google alert for it. They seem to always do it mid-June and early October (birthdays or anniversaries, I'm guessing?) and then other than that just rarely and randomly.

Mother's Day 2014

I always take my parents to Ray's Boathouse, as it's the restaurant my Grandfather took my Grandmother to for their anniversary every year for the 30 years they lived in WA, so my mom is particularly nostalgic for it.

I think of it as a very Mom-appropriate place and I like the steamer clams, and the view on a nice day is stunning up in the Cafe. It would be absolutely packed to the gills on Mother's Day, but for another day I would recommend.

The Brooklyn would be the place to get loud, get cocktails, get oysters.... The finance crowd *loves* that place.

Chinese dinner in the ID

Red Lantern is probably the nicest interior of places I've been in the ID. They do a good Shui Zhu Yu and Fu Qi Fei Pian, not as good as 7 Stars, but hits the spot.

downtown Seattle

The 5 Point if you like dive bars with excellent food (seriously, my favorite chicken fried steak in town and their chicken wings and fried cheese curds are stellar).

Bambinos for great pizza and an awesome tap list if you like good microbrews. Tilikum Place Cafe is good, they have a nice brunch on the weekend.

downtown Seattle

You're more in Lower Queen Anne than Downtown. Toulouse Petit is just up the street and good. Will you have a car/other transportation? Are you okay with taking short bus rides?

Il Corvo only serves 3 pastas a day, all handmade, until they run out. Check out their website to get a better idea about what they make: http://ilcorvopasta.com/

Rock Creek has done seafood right by me both times I've been. They have a pretty wide variety and all the dishes I've tried there have been good to great.

Best restaurant for oysters?

A friend and I hit happy hour at Westward and that day they had treasure coves for $1.50. Downside is that happy hour is only 4-5:15, but it's a really cool space and everything we had ranged from good to outstanding.

Seattle's Best Sandwiches

I haven't tried most of these on the newest Seattle Met list, but I can attest that the fried oyster sandwich at Westward on this list is pretty damn good.

Pizza By The Slice - Ats'a Nice!

I got a slice and a salad + soda for $8 at Post Alley Pizza today. They were very nice and my slice of pep was so big that I couldn't really finish it after my salad, and it was tasty. I'll head back there the next time I want thin crust pizza for lunch and my legs feel like they can handle walking back up to 4th afterwards.

Seattle's Best Sandwiches

I haven't had the Catfish Sandwich or the Pork Belly Bahn Mi at Matt's in the Market for a while, but if they're still as good as I remember I would put them on my list.

Any Seattle 'Hoods Where Lack of Parking Keeps You Away?

As someone who does not own a car (so déclassé!) the lack of easy bus access keeps me out of Madison Park for one, and by that I really mean it keeps me from spending all my time at The Attic, and I think I've only been to Magnolia a handful of times in my 8 years here.

Pizza By The Slice - Ats'a Nice!

I get a slice from De Laurentiis in the Market for lunch sometimes. It too, is a big bready square, with an olive-oily crust. I like it well enough (3 pepperoni?) and for $3.25 it's a cheap lunch for me.

Pizza By The Slice - Ats'a Nice!

Yup. I'm not a huge fan of how they re-heat them through the toaster. Makes the crust kind of cracker-like and doesn't give me the singe on the pepperoni that I like. Decent size though, and I think a slice of pep runs around $3.25.

Best place for a good quality steak?

I've had a few good steaks at Bick's Broadview Grill. It's not super cheap, but less expensive than Jak's.

Best place for a good quality steak?

I have never heard a more apt description of the Wedgwood Broiler's bar.

I'd go for the prime rib dip over a steak there, though.

Best Value-to-Price Ratio in Seattle?

$4.50 for pint sized happy hour wells at Earl's on the Ave. Daytime bartender Joe has been there forever and is a big sweet teddy bear :)

SEA lunch - w/o parking nightmare

Sound Transit (which includes the bus we're speaking of) stopped giving paper transit tickets a few years ago, so you only get the transit credit if you have an ORCA card.
