Dinner Saturday - Need your fav. Bergen BYO ideas please Went for dinner last night. Good service, small room, easy parking right in front. The food was good not great. The usual choices for Rodizio. The salad was excellent, my kids wolfed the fries and we liked the rice and beans. There were very good wine glasses for a place like this and people were bringing nice bottles. $205 all in for six of us. The deal at lunch is $15 for all you can eat Rodizio. |

I've had my set around two years. No problems with them, but do not use them in an oven over 450. My server is made out of metal and comes in handy when your bring the cassarole to the table. We have stoneware lids and plastic lids for the refrig. |

Where to find Veggie dumplings with spinach dough in NJ? Not a restaurant, but H Mart has them frozen to steam a home. |
|
|
Need recommendations on where to buy "appetizers" If you're into dumplings and dimsum type items, H Mart in Ridgefeild has a real good selection of frozen items. The quality seems to be better than most other Orental markets. They also have a good selection of fresh made items and will probably be open on Christmas |

Rockland County best kept secrets.. Just a point about Rockland farm, The butcher shop is Halal like you would see in Paterson NJ. Right next door is Kalavari. A top notch Indian resto with a huge menu that has a section of Jewish style Indian food, besides northern and southern Indian food. If you like it spicey they'll make it for you. |

New Addition to Palisades Mall Restaurants There's one in Clifton NJ. Salty frozen shellfish. Not worth the time. |

Polish Restaurants Near Parsippany Polish Smak is a really great deli for breakfast sandwiches and lunch . They have a smaller selection then Piast of hot dishes. They hit all the high notes. The hero bread they use on their sandwiches is above the norm. I've taken home the stuffed cabbage and was very satisfied, plus the women who work there are very nice. |

Need to find a place to buy bushels of fresh littleneck clams in Edison, NJ Even Shoprite if given notice. |
|

Why not try making it yourself. Its as easy as making hamburger and its always fresh. I tend to get my ground pork in a Chinese butcher(it tends have more fat and courser ground than supermarket ground pork). Google Mexican Choriso for ingrediants which can be purchased at your Mexican market. |

Where to find Spanish saffron? If you look online for Sahar Saffron you wil find a great selection of Spanish, Greek, Afgani, Italian, Morrocan and Kashmir(I think the best). They have the newest crop and if you want to compare they have a assorted deal for $76. I've bought from them the last two years and have been very satisfied. |

Had one there on Monday. I tend to shop at Kam Man when I'm in the area. At 3X$12 its a great deal and very good quality. They have 4 different types plus other viet dishes that I haven't had yet. |

In an area where the bakery situation is poor Rockland excells for good rolls, rye bread and challah. The italian bread is ok but not great. They've recently tried to make "artisinal" loaves and rolls, again good not great. Having said this its my go to place for bread and occasional Danish. I would probably go to Costco more offen but the parking and size(too big) of the packaging generally stops me. |

Actually I did like Grimaldis. I've been twice for lunch. Had Ceasar salad, romaine, crotons, and a creamy dressing; no hint of anchoives. The 1st time was a ind. white pie w/eggplant .Grat flavors but the crust was a little soft fomy liking. It was more than enough for one person and my wife liked it reheated. The 2nd pie was tomato, jalepeno, and sausage again great flavor but I wish the crust was a little crisper. I can appreciate the softer crust just not my style. This was a small pie which is probaly good for three hungary eaters. Both meals in the $20 range, so good value. Nice service. The waiter had a handlebar moustace. The owner was around to make sure everything went well. They also have a salad bar w/cold cuts for $10 at lunch |

Ok food if your in the area. Young loud crowd that seems alot louder because of all of the hard surfaces, comparable to Boom Burger. They try to make a big deal about the wine by having someone come over and present the bottle(a procesco in our case) but no one ever came back to pour any other glasses. 5 dishes + one bottle of wine= $100 not including tip. I work near the place so I'll probably go back for lunch. Didn't try any pizza. Went to Grimaldis for that, but thats a different story. |

Mexican Restaurants in Bergen County Its in Passaic on Monroe St. Its basically the same food wise. The room is pretty dark (I've only gone for tacos at lunch, so maybe the entrees are different). Lately the quality of the Englewood location seems to have gone down a bit. It seems to have gotten a little bland. Monroe St has a wealth of inexpensive Mexican restos and supermarkets and butchers. |

Grimaldi's Coal Brick Oven Pizzeria.....$5 Bucks For Bread? What's Up With That? Having baked bagels for many years in NY and NJ the water issue is crap. I find that except for a few places I worked in LI in the 60's and 70's the bagels are beter here (in NJ) than NY. The places that were comparable were because the bagels were handmade (not a guarantee) not made by bagel machines. |

Grimaldi's Coal Brick Oven Pizzeria.....$5 Bucks For Bread? What's Up With That? one of the worst websites ever. 1st time I clicked on it it was in Albanian. I work around the block and have not seen more than a half dozen cars in a parking lot that probably has 200 spaces. I think they have a tough road in Clifton. There's already top notch pizza(different styles) and inexpensive ethnic food of every stripe. Montclair is also minutes away. |

The Fresh Market coming to Montvale - Thoughts? This is the Dipero's site. They have been trying to get something developed here for a number of years. It looks to be the end of an era in Bergen Co. They are the last farmstand in this area. The other two that were here turned into A&P and Tice's Corner . I'm looking forward to Wegmans, but its a shame it has to go there. |

So what do you do when its 10 pm and they've rolled up the streets in Westwood or any of the other towns in N.E. Bergen. In 2011 diners serve the same purpose they've always have, not a destination, but a place where you can go with you 5yr old kids or your 90 year old grandmother and get a quick meal for a reasonable price. BTW Rolling Pin is a good place to go but is done at 3PM |

Best Bakery in Northwest Bergen County (i.e. Ridgewood area) The original owner of B&W moved over to Allwood bakery(Clifton) a number of years ago. That's the place to go if you want the the original crumb cake. |

The Fresh Market coming to Montvale - Thoughts? If this is the same as the Fresh Market in University City in Philly, Don't hold your breath waiting for it to be good. |

Rec for dinner in Bergen County? I'm a little late to the game but Sicilian pesto is red. |

Except maybe Chengdu 23 in Wayne or Chengdu 1 right down the street on RT 23 in Cedar Grove. |

What's Your "Go To" Restaurant in the Rockland Area? I'll second Vietnam and add Davey's Locker in Montvale. Great burgers and beers |
|
|
We've been going to Gen since they opened and have always loved it, until they expanded and added a second restaurant, I rarely see the owner there anymore. The last two times we went the quality was sub par. We have always left the menu in the hands of the Sushi chef and have rarely been disappointed until now. I've taken it off the list and have not found anything to replace it in my area(NE Bergen). |
|
|
If we're talking about The resto on 303 I don't see Korean buffet at all. The two times I was there I found the American style steaks and seafood quite good for the area, and as far as the prices probably cheaper than other comparable places in Bergen or Rockland. Although that's not saying much. |

Daveys Locker in Montvale on Kinderkermack has top notch burgers, done the way you ask for them, a good beer list on tap, and music on the weekends. When you are done there you can go up the block to Porter House or Defiant Brew Pub in Pearl River. |
