Cheap(er/est) eats in Chelsea for student [London]

Paddington is the wrong side of the park, but if venturing that way Bonda Cafe is hard to beat for value, quantity and flavour for money. Similarly Patogh on Crawford Street.

Not sure about student budgets these days, but am almost certain that anything at Cocomaya would not pass the quantity/value/price equation for most students!

Hakkasan style food in a more relaxed ambience [London]

Min Jiang is traditional food, not really fusion. It is also not quite hip and trendy. The food is excellent though, just maybe not fitting the style requested here - though the views over hyde park are wonderful.

St Johns doughnuts, eccles cakes and bread, the best in London?

They get mentions in local rags about connaght village, matchbox and the like... it very much tries to appeal to the fashion set and the local wealthy ladies - successfully no doubt as the place is very pretty. But the "normal people" locally are desperate for a decent local deli/bakery that isn't lebanese food or priced scarily!

Paul Rhodes is ok... If you're by Whole Foods I recommend the Exeter Street Bakery

Seriously unimpressed by Cocomaya. Live very closeby and since it opened have popped in time and time again to try and find something I like given all the hype. Cakes are pretty but lack anything more. A real case of style and PR over substance. Also very overpriced. I know its a wealthy area, but there seems to be some major margin boosting going on.

Anyone been to Sedap on Old Street, London?

Has Nyonya in Notting Hill shut down permanently or changed hands now? Last few times I passed, its windows are covered and looks like its closed or being refurbished... Anyone know?

Congee in London?

Oriental City's supermarket re-opened on Queensway a while back under the same name I think.

I haven't tried the Korean places - do they serve congee? I never get further than bibimbap on a korean menu as I love the stuff.

Congee in London?

I wasn't particularly impressed with the congee there and there was limited choice. I'm surprised that there aren't more places serving it. In fact I've even struggled to find instant congee here - does anyone know if Oriental City or anywhere in Chinatown sells it?

Congee in London?

Is there anywhere that serves congee in London? Do any of the restaurants on Queensway serve it or would I have to go to Chinatown? Thanks.
