Vietnamese Restaurant in Collierville TN
Has anyone eaten at New Que Huong in Collierville? I am addicted. I have eaten there over the last few months and loved every meal. Recently I tried their Banh Mi sandwhich, and I got mad at myself that I had not tried it earlier....it's that good.
Anyone else had the pleasure of eating there?
Au Fond
What! you don't just know?!? Wow, I was a bit sleepy when I wrote that post. It's in Memphis.
Au Fond
Has anyone else been to Au Fond yet? I had breakfast there recently and it was great. Im not a lover of grits normally, but these were fantastic. The only thing that was a bit odd was that the cashier was also the food runner/coffee refiller etc.... He looked a bit swamped. Thoughts?
Restaurants in Germantown, Tn?
Elfo's is a good Italian place that is run by a family in Memphis that has a long tradition of good Italian food.

Germantown doesn't have a ton of places to eat. If you drive just a bit into Memphis you will have more options. Amerigos is in Memphis, but close to Germantown.

Laurelwood shopping center across the street from Oak Cort mall. Davis Kidd bookstore is in the same shopping center.
The Pimento Cheese burger at The Grove Grill
Oh, God...it's fantastic! Has anyone else tried this? I have always loved their house made pimento cheese and their burger, but combined they become something even better.

6 days in Memphis
Flying Fish is accross the street from the Peabody, and it is good. If you like a lot of different kinds of beer, the Flying Saucer is great- just down the street. The food is not great, but hundreds of beers make it ok! Rendevous does have its dectracors for bbq snobs - but it is a blast and a must see. I have always enjoyed the food at Blues City Cafe on Beale St. Hueys is a local burger joint that has very good bar food. On Beale, you can also get a great greasy burger at Dyers - google it. There is a good video on Serious Eats. But as you have heard - Gus's is fantastic. If you are up late, a soul burger at Ernasttine and Hazels is awesome. Have fun.

memphis- big group-Memorial Day weekend (moved from Southeast board)
You are going to have a very hard time with 40 people. I know this may be very "non-chowlike" but you will be close to a Cracker Barrel. They might be able to accomidate this number. Germantown does have a new Mellow Mushroom that is good. To be honest, G'Town is not the high point for Memphis food. That being said, a previous person mentioned Soul Fish, and it is fantastic. Great fried catfish - and I don't normally like catfish. The cuban sandwich is great as are the huge amount of veggie side dishes. The thinly sliced, quick pickled cucumbers are a fantastic side to a fatty order of wings (which are great). The one Mexican place that could hold you no problem is Taquiera Guadulapana. It is one of the best real Mexican food places in town- there are not many places in Memphis you can get goat! The bistec a la Mexicana is fantastic! Skirt steak cooked with onions and jalapenos...yum. There are 2 locations. The closest one to G'town is on Winchester. For Tex-mex The Happy Mexican is good. It is on Ridgeway, fairly close to G'town. For other ideas, google The Memphis Flyer, it is a weekly paper that has a good food section. The Commercial appeal is the daily paper that also has some good food reviews. Good luck.

Two Nights in Memphis - seeking suggestions
You need to google Delta tamales. They have a type of tamales in the delta that are specific to that region. They are not like traditional Mexican tamales. I do not have any recommendations for you, but I am sure you can find some on the South board.
Memphis- Lobster King
I remember reading on www.whiningdining.com that most folks thought the next best place was New Asia in Germantown. I know it's not exactly close to the area Lobster King was in, but it's supposed to be very good.
The Best Memphis Burger?
I forgot about the Butcher Shop burger! You have to get there early, or you will be waiting in line. I recently saw a food network show called "The Best Thing I Ever Ate", and Marc Summers (who generally annoys me) said he likes the burger at Steak and Shake. I tried it last week, and it was good. Years ago, I ate a wonderful burger at Ernestine & Hazels. Now, I was a bit "beery" but it was great.
The Best Memphis Burger?
Ok, I know Huey's always wins the Flyer poll, but who do you love? I have heard everything from Tops to Belmont to East End to Dyer's. Where do the locals go when we need a burger fix? I always liked Bradley's when he was on Riverdale, then G'town and most lately C'ville (now closed). From what I understand this place was a Dyer's spin off. Thoughts?
Going to Nashville in March....restaurant help
My wife and daughter and I are going to N'ville for a weekend in March. My wife is a vegetarian and my daughter leans that way. I however, am a carnivore. Can you all please help with all 3 meals? We ate at Noshvegas for breakfast a few years ago and really liked it. Other than that we are a tabla rasa.
Memphis-Downtown-Sunday
A great place that is close is Flying Fish. It is not a "white table cloth" type place, but it is funky and the food is great.
Memphis Breakfast
I think Bryants is overrated. Blue Plate is fine, nothing earth shattering. If you are out east, the West St. Diner in Germantown is very good. A great diner breakfast in a clean environment. I also love Br. Junipers, it is much better than Bryants, and you are going to see unique items on the menu that you will see nowhere else in Memphis. If you love bread, choose it over a bisciut - they make their own.
New to Memphis, where to find great sandwiches, pizza, and chocolate?
I forgot to mention Young Ave Deli and Soul Fish. Young Ave has a huge sandwich selection and some of the best fries in town. Soul Fish is known for its catfish, but the Cuban sandwich is fantastic.
I love the pizza from Villa Castriotti in Cordova. It is the closet thing to a NY style pie in town.
New to Memphis, where to find great sandwiches, pizza, and chocolate?
I love Lisa's lunchbox. It is hidden in an office building just east of the Ridgeway 4 movie theaters. There is no sign on the front of the building, so you would never know anything is in there. The BEST BLT in the city.
Best Steak In Memphis
Susan is right!! Ronnie Grisantis steak is fantastic. Plus, they know how to pour a generous glass of wine.
Best Wings In Memphis???
I agree that the wings at Molly's are fantastic! Very unique. They are not Buffalo style, but who cares, they are great. I also have to add that the wings at Soul Fish are amazing- they put them atop a bed of their great french fries and they soak up the excess sauce. I have not had a bad meal at Soul Fish, they have the best Cuban sandwich in town.
Whiskey Tasting Tennessee (Nashville)
You really need to go to Dickel. I went there 8 years ago with my wife, and it was just us and the tour guide. We had the run of the place! If you go to Jack Daniels you will have a much larger crowd to contend with. The setting of the distillery is beautiful, although hard to find. A GPS is a good idea. Plus, the whiskey is much better than Jack. Here is a link for tours:
