Zucchini Bread
thanks for posting this CL! i made this this evening and it is sooooo easy to make and tastes great. i used walnuts but no raisins. i didn't have any cinnamon so i'll have to try it next time with the cinnamon and raisins. i have two more zucchinis to use up so will prob make another two loaves this week.
thanks so much!
Chai Thai Noodles (Oakland) Thai House Express chef alert
thanks robert and 2cents! i'm super relieved to know that the beef noodle is still on the menu. i highly recommend checking it out!
and if you are in south bay -- THE place for thai food is either new krung thai or krung thai (we prefer going to the new krung thai).

so how is the food at THE on Larkin now that the chef is gone? we used to go there when we were up in SF. has the food gone down hill?
does anyone know if the new restaurant has the beef noodle soup on the menu? THE was the only place in the bay area that made that dish really well. my DH is thai and very very picky about thai food - THE was the only place he would eat that dish. you have to go to LA to get anything comparable.
crawdaddy restaurant or cajun crab house? which one for crawfish?
so i ended up driving up to san francisco to go to PPQ. PPQ did not disappoint! we ordered dinner for 2 and had the peppercorn crab. now THAT is what i'm talking about!!
we felt an overwhelming sense of contentment after such a wonderful meal.
crawdaddy restaurant or cajun crab house? which one for crawfish?
i am trying to figure out whether to try either Crawdaddy restaurant or Cajun crab house. both are in the south bay.
this is a really important decision :P that i need to make because i went to a korean crabhouse place on el camino last night that was pretty bad and now i am seriously jonesing for some great crawfish ... help me scratch this itch ... pretty please?

ETA : the crabhouse i went to last night was near Ky-po market. we ordered the crab casserole. not really a casserole but more of a soupy spicy sauce with crab thrown in as well as soybeans. the problem - there was alot of crab shell but not much crab. and of the crab that was in there, they had little meat on them. if they cut down on the amount of sauce and improved the crab quality and amount, they could really have something.

you make some good points rworange and i hadn't thought about the hospital close by.
i might not have tried the "right" items at LP and so if i ever am in the situation where i end up there i now know what to choose.
i'm all for supporting the local economy but my experience at LP was so so bad hence my "gasp* at preferring denny's over LP :)
anyone have event at servino in tiburon?
thanks kai27 - i have eaten there for dinner and thought the food was good. was just wondering how they were able to handle keeping the consistency with a large crowd to feed.
but thanks for your input and the kudos!
anyone have event at servino in tiburon?
oh thanks so much missmoo for your post!! this makes me feel better :) i really like the space but had some concerns about it being too tight a fit for 100.
our band will prob be around 3-5 but i think we can change it up if it is too much for the space.
thanks again!
re : the food -- how was the food? what did you all order? i am thinking of going sit down with sea bass and steak (bistecca)
san bruno thai temple lunches - still being held?
yep every sunday. i will try and let you know before a year passes :P
Best Burgers in the Bay?
you gotta go to taylor's refresher in the ferry building!! plus try the garlic fries (skinny fries) - they add a little cilantro which is just perfect combo with the garlic.
http://www.taylorsrefresher.com/
it is gourmet fast food restaurant but they make everything fresh fresh. i love the fact that alot of the buns are egg buns.
sweet potato fries are good too. love the blue cheese burger, my fiance loves the western bacon burger. can't go wrong with the plain or cheese burgers too. plus they serve wine and beer.
i personally didn't like the counter at all - it's several steps up from mcdonald's for sure but seemed a bit too cookie cutter/chain like - albeit a more upscale chain
ETA : kirk's steakburger in the south bay is also one that comes up as a place to go but i thought it was just OK. they have great steak fries though and if you want alot of meat, it will definitely fit that bill
and lets not forget good ole in-n-out burger - basic but GOOD! i'd rather have an in-and-out burger any day over the counter or kirk's
Lucky Penny Diner
yes, i don't understand how it manages to stay in business. i'd prefer to go to *gasp* denny's over this place.
san bruno thai temple lunches - still being held?
hi there! just saw this! almost a year later. it was great! time to go again i think!
anyone have event at servino in tiburon?
hi, i am looking into having my wedding reception at servino in tiburon and was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with an event in their upstairs banquet area.
how was the food during the event?
also, i'm wondering how many people were at the event you attended and what was the spacing like? I am looking to have 80-100 people plus a band and am concerned that it will be too tight a fit. i don't mind cosy but i don't want people to feel claustraphobic or boxed in.
because of the spacing issue, i am leaning towards a sit down dinner as opposed to a buffet.
also, were they pretty flexible about the bar options - i think their bar packages are very overpriced and am considering hosting wine and beer but if guest want anything else then it would be cash bar. i think most of my guests will have no more than 3 drinks if even that with a handful who will drink more.
thanks!
desperately looking for this restaurant - does anyone know it?
thanks shane - yep a bit too pricey but thanks for the rec!
desperately looking for this restaurant - does anyone know it?
thanks lori! - i don't think this is it but i'll have to check sheba out one of these days - looks cozy
desperately looking for this restaurant - does anyone know it?
i really would like to find this restaurant. i don't have tons of details except that it is in the bay area. i haven't been there but i was interested in finding out which restaurant this is after seeing a post about it somewhere online because it would be perfect for a friend's party that i am trying to plan:
small restaurant that has a separated party room (more like a house) has four levels
One level is the bar area, One is the dining room, and another has a grand piano. The top level is open and has a fireplace.
does this ring any bells for anyone? TIA!
san bruno thai temple lunches - still being held?
does anyone know if the san bruno thai temple still holds sunday lunches? i haven't been there for a year now andi was thinking of going with some friends this sunday but don't want to get them excited for the temple's fried chicken (THE best friend chicken) and som tum if it's not there anymore.
thanks :)!
