Suggestion for fine dining near Sheraton Downtown Atlanta

Thank you Ted.! My trip is 6 wks away and I am getting even more excited. The rational behing spending cab fare for 2 miles make me feel better then spending it for 3 blocks..*especially in heels..LOL..

Baltimore Chowhound in search of road food advice, Jacksonville to Cedar Key

Saw this post late. sorry.
So if anyone else will see it. The best place to eat in Cedar Key by far is the Island Room.
Peter the Owner and Chef had fabulous dishes to wow you. Yes, you are in a little fishing town. Have dinner there and watch the sunset..amazing.
You must have the crab bisque. He has had in the past grouper dishes like oscar or others..never fear you cant go wrong.
Clamming and Oystering happens here so fresh is fresh.
Enjoy.

I see we are in the same situation.
I did call Restaurant Eugene. You can take Marta from downtown to the Lindburgh station then get a taxi to go 3 blocks..yes, its about 20 dollors one way. I was thinking doing the taxi going back in the evening..

Debate for a Foodie coming to Atlanta

Hello Chow Friends
I will be in Atlanta in August for a convention / Downtown. I have one day to roam and sow my foodie delights. I enjoy gourmet sensations, creative dishes, classic dishes, or spontanious tasting surprises. Cost is not an issue. With no transporation..Only Marta, I am in deleima..Should I go to
Bacchanalia-feast on their tasting menu and endulge on extra appetizers..just to taste..
Restaurant Euguene-travel 45 minutes away (am female in evening -marta and taxi) and have the fois, sweetbreads, and miracles. This restaurant became top 40 in the Nation recently.
or Abttoir-open my creative senses to excitement which I love as well.

Ok, help me out..From one foodie to another..Bon Appetite, may all your experiences be exciting !!

Which Tagine cookware would you advise...Please advise if you have one.

SilverlakeGirl,
I bought my Tagine from a local gourmet store. Not sure where you live, but they can be easily found over the net. See note from Geezer Gourmet below, she sells them as well. I really cant wait to use it.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments. I bought the Emile Henri tagine in Red tonight. It was on sale...I really wanted the Black , but was told it is only sold in Black in Europe..Odd no?

Which Tagine cookware would you advise...Please advise if you have one.

I am looking at buying a tagine cooker. I know that some cannot be used on the stove top (gas). Some have handles on the side. Emeril and All clad..Emil Henry has a heavier ceramic but no handles..which of course with pot holders can be easily removed from the oven but with all the juices in the tagine could spill easier.

Do you own one...And what is your favorite recipe to cook in it?

Thanks

Best everyday pan?

My whole collection is All Clad LTD..I have had them since 1990. Although they are faded a bit on the outside..yes, I put them in the dishwasher..they have held up 100% and cook today as they did on day one.

Le Saint Amour or Laurie Raphael?

I totally recommend Le Saint Amour..I just posted a comment about this on this web site..look for best in Quebec City..I best meal, ever in our lives..Also, going out of the city..Aubergene..Fabulous..We had sweet breads 3 times, couldnt get enough..Oh, and St. Amour..is worth every penny and more..had the 10 course meal..

Quebec City for SF Hounds

We were in Quebec City last year. Our most memorable dinner ever in our lives was a restaurant called Le Saint Amour. The restaurant has contemporary cuisine. They have won numberous awards in food competitions. Yes, they are expensive..and worth every bit of it and more. My husband and I had their 10 course meal..tasting..so that the dishes were all presented to us without knowing in advance the items. Also, it was the only place to ever ask if we had any food allergies, which we dont. The wine, we ordered al acarte..We were there for 4 hours and 15 min..price was under 300 for 2..complete with tax etc..We will return there for sure..only open for dinner.

Strangest chow you've eaten?

I love sushi, however, after trying sea urchin..not under the influence...and under the influence..I still cant stomach it. I know it is a delicacy, but I think it resembles an oyster that sat in the sun for a long time, but instead of going hard from being cooked, it went nasty and slimy..sorry..

and cant stomach the raw egg yolk either.
