Calgary sausage and biscuit gravy I've never seen biscuits and gravy in Calgary, however, it's dead simple to make at home and ingredients are easy to find here. |

Any place serve Vienna Beef brand hot dogs in Calgary/YYC? Ive got a jar of nuclear green relish and a jar of sport peppers in the pantry. No steamed poppy seed buns or Vienna dogs to be found in Calgary though.. How about those Italian beef sandwiches. They are damn tasty too. |

Chicago style hot dog ingredients I have done the same search in Calgary. I found your best bet is to order online of www.viennabeef.com. They are a bit of a Chicago specialty..along with with the nuclear green relish and the poppy seed buns. |

Yes, Calgary's best pubs (Limeriks, Joyce on 4th, Kilkenny, Seanachie, Donegal) does or at least used to serve this on the weekend. |

Its a complete crap shoot. One visit you might get a decent meal, the next can be terrible. Calling it superior food is nonsense. It's equal to Kelsey's. It's a traded company. Chain brand garbage at it's best. |

In search of butcher in Calgary You're missing out. Veal is delish. |

I tried to find some in Calgary. All I found was Bob's Red Mill corn grits (Polenta). It wasn't white grits like you probably bought in the US. I emailed Quaker and was told that they didn't sell any in Canada. I ordered some off an online grocery store. |

I'd have to agree that it is a terrible restaurant. I go occationally with work. One time they said that we couldn't have the baked potato because the microwave wasn't working. My rare steak was like beef jerky (sent back of course). You can do far better elsewhere or cooking at home for that matter. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. Found some at Sunterra in Britannia. Yeah not cheap either as expected. |

Anyone know where I can find veal shanks in Calgary? |

I have no real strong pizza opinion. Actually I kind of do. Personally have had good experience with Fat Tony's in Connaught. Pretty slow service but that's Calgary. Honestly had the best slice in New York. That being said, I think the local water has something to do with the taste of the dough. I have to agree with the midtown co-op posts. They do crank out a pretty good pizza. |

Turning 18 in Calgary - Pubs, steak house? Personally wouldn't recommend ruths. Unless you want a $50 steak + $15 mashed potatoes smothered in a lake of butter + whatever other $15 al la carte side. Better off getting a decent steak at Joey`s or Earls to be honest. I`d go to Ceasars for the cheese bread, but don`t expect to see any talent in there. Just a bunch of stuffy 65yr old male servers. |

Turning 18 in Calgary - Pubs, steak house? Yeah dude, that is not the ghetto. Type in "brutal new york" in google and then tell me if 12th ave is the ghetto. |

Best quality sushi in Calgary- Blowfish, Globefish, Sukiyaki House or somewhere else? Zen 8 is good. Very clean inside. It's not cheap though. |

Grits for Breakfast in Calgary?.... Where? I have never been able to find them in Calgary. I emailed Quaker and was told that they do not sell any grits in Canada. Your best bet is an online grocery store or take a trip to the US. |

Buying Fresh Seafood in Calgary Don't want to ruffle any feathers but I would avoid superstore for seafood. From my experience its less than fresh. Try a place like North Sea in Willowpark (I know, not the NW) or Midtown CO-OP. |

"Best of New Orleans" in Okotoks I thought it was excellent. Had the red beans and rice. I've never been to New Orleans so I can't compare to the real thing, but it's certainly far better than that Zaterains boxed crap. |

I have to say, I've never had a good steak at the Keg. Sometimes have to go there because of work lunches. Once they appoligized for the delay on the baked potatoe because the microwave wasn't working. You know you're getting quality when they microwave the baked potatoes. I honestly wouldn't be suprised if they microwaved the steaks too. That's how bad they are. |

I'm also a big Southern BBQ fan. Palomino and Big T's are ok. I don't think the turnover is high so there is a lot of reheating. Definately nothing like real Texas BBQ. Your best bet is to buy a smoker and do it at home. It's not hard to produce "Q" better than restaurants. |
