Rome dining on a piazza

Thank you all so much for these wonderful suggestions...Pierluigi sounds perfect and it was already on my list. Happy it fits that scenario I am trying to find. I knew I could find something that wld fit the bill - we are familiar w Rome and aware of its traffic etc etc and I didn't really expect my kids to play IN fountain while we had dinner ;) but thank you the information re fountain regulations in the city. Who knows, after some good wine it cld be my husband and I trying to frolic in it rather than my better behaved children!

Rome dining on a piazza

Random request....am planning trip to rome w my family....for a dinner I would love to sit outside on a piazza, where my two boys can maybe play near the fountain...have some freedom to run around while my husband and I can enjoy a leisurely meal of traditional roman or any italian regional cuisine and wine.
Has anyone gone to such a restaurant? anything jump out at you that cld offer us this experience?
gratzie!

Convivium Osteria Tips

I am surprised that surly waiter still has a job bc after our experience with him, we have sadly sworn off convivium. even the manager was appalled by his behavior after I had to ask him to please release us from our meal when we asked for our check after our appetizers and apertifs bc our waiter was making us feel soooo uncomfortable. yes, asking how much you'd like to spend is OK - but making us feel like cheapos by saying that our $60 ask was ridiculous, and that they don't have any good wines for that price point is NOT OK. but then being a giant jerk to me and my husband - also a BIG not OK. Its sad, was a favorite place but it is now replaced on our list by places who's service is better and quite honestly, who's food is much better - convivium has gone downhill. sad
