Peppered Jelly

Thanks for all the feedback. I have tried the store brands but like some have mentioned, they are not always stocked plus the quality isn't as good as the farmer markets.

I went to St. Lawrence Market this afternoon and saw a vendor on the lower level (South West section). He allowed me to sample a variety of diff flavors. I picked up two bottles of his product "A Bisket-A Basket". The samples were really good.

I will post the results once I try it on my Beef Back Ribs this weekend!!

Thanks
H

Peppered Jelly

Does anyone know where to get some good peppered jelly in Toronto or North York?

I used to get mine from Max Market in Bloor West Village...it was the Hot Mammas brand which is great quality. This location is too far.

There was a gourmet store that opened in Yorkdale mall across from HMV last Christmas but they didn't stay open that long. There peppered jelly was great quality.

If anyone has suggestion for location or brand, please let me know. I use them on my Ribs.

Thanks

Mini Burgers

Hi,
I am hosting a party in a couple of weeks and plan on making those mini burgers as part of the menu. Does anyone know where you can purchase mini buns specific to the mini patties in the city? A freind suggested using dinner rolls.

I have asked a few bakeries and they don't supply them.

Thanks
H

has anyone gone to or are going to the missisauga ribfest?

I've been to the rib fest. Nothing special. I've been making my own beef back ribs for over a year now. Beats any vendors from the rib fest or restaurant.

Best Ribs in TO

Hands down Tony Romas. If your really big on ribs, I suggest home made...either BBQ grill or kitchen smoker. If you need tips on this, let me know.

"Happy Hour" Cocktails Downtown Toronto?

Schmooze (Mercer St.) has $2 drinks on Fridays till 9pm. Food is excellent. LARGE patio. Great atmosphere.

Brant House has $3 drinks on Thursday. Not sure what time their happy hour is finished.

Milestones is great for food and drinks (John & Richmond)

Best butter chicken in the Toronto area

I'm a huge butter chicken fan. I've had many bad butter chicken dishes. I have to agree with the people who mentioned Dhaba, Aroma and especially Little India (on Queen).

Spicy Fried Rice (Chicken or Beef)

Hey Everyone,

I am looking for a good Thai restaurant that has excellent spicy fried rice. The Thai restaurant (Thai Orchid) in my area of Finch and Weston closed down. I love really spicy dishes (I always order "Armageddon" wings when i go to Duffs).

If anyone has ever been to a great Thai restaurant and tried a really spicy dish which they found challenging (to the point where tears come out of your eyes), please let me know.

Whether you recommend a spot in downtown (since i work in the King/Spadina area) or in the North area (i live in Vaughan) would be fine with me.

Thanks in advance

Is there ANY good places to eat breakfast in TORONTO?

Go to Skyway Jacks in Markham. Also a location in Mississauga. American style all day breakfast. Great quality, big portion, low price and great service. Always a great breakfast there.

Rubs and sauces for smoked ribs

Try Williams-Sonoma. They have nice rubs. Even better....I picked up their book, "grilling essentials" & it has the best rubs you can make yourself at home. Memphis style Ribs, Creole Beef Back, Kansas City Ribs. All the rubs are really easy to make at home. Dry rub ingredients will cost under $7 from Bulk Barn. Wet rubs will be under $10 for all ingredients. I tried the Memphis ribs which required 3 hrs of smoking and I was impressed with the recipe for the rubs.

Beef Back Ribs?

That's wicked. I will check them out this weekend. Thanks for the info. 8-)

Beef Back Ribs?

Hi
Does anyone know where I can get some good quality beef back ribs for smoking? St. Lawrence sells it for 1.99/lbs. I am looking for a butcher or grocery store either in North York/Woodbridge or Brampton.

Thanks in advance
