Good choice. I would also assume Craft, but have not been there in a few years.
The only issue with Steak places is if they marinate their steaks ahead of time in Garlic. There is a new steak place in Union Square, anyone try that one yet?

We are going to try Risotteria when want something casual. I did hear the same about Dany Meyer's restaurants so thanks for the re-confirmation.

Carfreeinla...It is not that the restaurants are not sensitive or try, but places like "cuba" (just one selection) when I called they said "don't come, everything has garlic". We are kind of new to this so it sounds like you can be a lot of help.
What we find is that they usually have 1 or 2 items on the menu that make the cut. Like last weekend at 1,000 Acres. The food was ok, but I think I am looking for a place that will offer some choices that are not on the menu.
It may be a lot to ask for, but sometimes we just want a "go-to" place that will make a dish off the menu if there she is tired of ordering the same thing.
One of our favorite place is Il Buco and they are accomodating, but only what is on the menu by swapping out a side dish or maybe holding the garlic on order on a meat dish that was not already marinated in it.
Does this type of place exist?
Where can 8 people go for semi-private dining?
If you are looking for a great place for 10. Try the chef's table at Il Buco in NOHO. One of my favorite restaurants. We also had our holiday party for small staff there last year. Excellent and always consistant food, service

Hi,
I hope that some of the members can give me some suggestions on restaurants that can accomodate a special diet.
My wife is trying to avoid her food sensitivities and I'm finding some restaurants really don't want to be bothered. She is gluten, dairy, & sugar free. Plus add Garlic to the list and it makes a lot of places general menu's a challenge.
I'm trying to come up with a list of restaurants close to our place in NOHO where the chef will accomodate. Ideally, places that will special prepare dishes based on what they have and not just say "well you can have the steak" or the one item on the menu that looks gluten free.
We go out to eat so much, but we are not steady regulars at any one particular place where we have special treatment so it seems like some restaurants just don't want to be bothered.
So, places in NOHO, SOHO, east village, village, west village and lower east side are usually where we go out to eat.
