Outer Limits Space Age Restaurant, Gila Bend, AZ This is good to know. We're planning a cross country trip next summer and I had picked out Gila Bend as a stopping point between Las Cruces and San Diego. I was a bit worried with the dearth of hotels. It sounds as if there are a couple of decent options for dining. |

Done the research- how does this sound--Memphis in August Looks like you've done your homework. A couple of comments: 1) You seem to be aiming for ribs as the barbecue mainstay. I'm not a big fan of the ribs at Payne's but I think they're sandwich is the best in town. I get the hot barbecue sauce which is not really spicy and seems to use more black pepper than true peppers. I think it works better with the mustard based cole slaw they serve on their sandwiches. Cozy Corner and Central are my two favorite rib places. 2) My preference is for Flying Fish though both are good. My view may be skewed since Soul Fish just opened up a location near me and eating there is pretty simple. 3) I think Gus' downtown is a bit spicy. (The Collierville location is less spicy and a little salty for me.) I like my chicken that way but not everyone. I was downtown a couple of weeks ago and we ordered Gus' and several in the party commented on the spiciness. 4) Restaurant Iris is very good - upscale Southern cuisine. Another really good restaurant in the same general area of town is Tsunami. ----- Restaurant Iris Cozy Corner Restaurant The Flying Fish |

Nashville and Memphis- Where to eat? I would add Tsunami, Restaurant Iris and Restaurant Bari to the midtown choices. ----- |

The news on Cozy Corner is something I can use. It's hard for me to get down there during the day most of the time. The CC is my favorite place for ribs in Memphis. ----- |

memphis- big group-Memorial Day weekend (moved from Southeast board) probably the best Mexican in Germantown is Los Tortugas Deli Mexcicana. Unfortuenately the restaurant itself is quite small and I'm not sure what it's weekend hours are. One of my favorites for the food is La Taquiera Guadaluana. It;s quite a ways away and it;s truly a hole in the wall, but the food is tasty and you can get tripe or tongue tacos. One stop west on 385 of the Mike Rose complex is Hacks Cross. There is a Casa Mexicana that I eat lunch at on ocassion. The food is pretty good but the service lacking. Collierville has El Porton which is the one we go to most often. A couple of none Mexican restaurants in that area are Bangkok Alley for Thai and Solu Fish Cafe for mainly catfish and tilapia but it is good. The original Soul Fish has been a mainstay in the Cooper Young area which is one of the more competitve food areas in the city. But neither of these are real large. ----- Bangkok Alley El Porton |

Spindini would be a few blocks walk but I think it's worth the effort. http://www.spindinimemphis.com/home.html ----- |

Memphis, TN: Tom's Bar-B-Q & Deli? I tried Tom's based on a recommendation from a couple of people I know. Personally not my favorite. That's one person's opinion. The two people that recommended it to me list it as their favorite. |

Eating in/around Harrodsburg, KY? I'm sorry to hear that and a little surprised. My wife and I were both graduated from Centre College so we visit the area often. In fact we'll be staying at the Beaumont Inn in October. We stayed at Shaker Village in the main house last Thanksgiving. We both prefer Beaumont to Shaker Village for dinner. Maybe we'll have a chance to try Olde Bus Stop on this next trip. Though we'll be spending most of our time in Danville. ----- |

Atlanta's most awarded chef is closing his doors - Seeger's is closing Interesting. Bon Appetit has a blurb in their current issue noting that Seeger's had reduced seating was going strong. |
