Is Grace Garden BYOB?
I was thinking about heading up there tonight but there seems to be conflicting information on whether it is BYOB or not.

Nando's Peri Peri - Annapolis
Went the other day to the Annapolis location. The chicken was cooked well but was nothing great. I got the chicken extra hot which really wasn't that hot. I also tried some of their sauces by themselves and they were ok. I had a side of Portuguese rice with my chicken, the rice was very bland. My wife ordered a chicken wrap which she loved but there were only about two strips of chicken in it, for being more in price than a half a chicken I would think it would be packed with chicken. The whole experience was just ok, probably wont go back anytime soon.
Korean Fried Chicken?! AKA: yangnyeom dak
Here is a great recipe for KFC that I have made many times ... http://www.vietworldkitchen.com/blog/2009/07/best-korean-fried-chicken-recipe-yangnyeom-dak-.html
Valentine's Bourbon Suggestions
4 roses single barrel, old forrester birthday bourbon(make sure to get the birthday version if you get this one), jefferson’s presidential select, and there is an older eagle rare, 17yo I think.
Annapolis Craft Beer Bars/Restaurants
Castlebay has a micro brewery but I'm not sure if they are brewing right now. They stopped because they were going to move their brewing equipment but never did ,and then as far as I know they haven't started brewing again yet. Give them a call and see. 410-626-0165
An interesting place to start might be hero's which is a five min. drive from downtown annapolis, they have 30+ beers on tap.
Anyone been to the new AVAM resturant? Mr Rains Funhouse...
Thanks for the review. I'll definitely check it out and report back.
Anyone been to the new AVAM resturant? Mr Rains Funhouse...
Was thinking of going later this month as I have some relatives coming in from out of town who want to go to the aquarium. I wanted to try someplace new, in the area, and I see they are doing classic cocktails which I love. Anyone been yet? Here's the website: http://www.mrrainsfunhouse.com/
Ardbeg Uigedail for the peat lover in you
Anyone tried Ardbeg Supernova? Very peaty I hear.
Tiki Books
Jeff Berry's books are the best out there. I was able to get Grog Log for under ten dollars from amazon recently. You just have to keep an eye for new used copies being listed at the site.
"Dude, this ain't Macallan."
I had a similar situation happen at the bar where I work.. The customer ordered a certain single malt scotch on the rocks from a waitress. I then watch it melt on the customer's table for a least fifteen minutes before the customer takes a sip. The waitress says, he says this isn't the scotch that he ordered. It was but I pour another and have her bring it over and make him try it before it gets too watered down from melting ice. " No this isn't such and such scotch" he claims again. So I then decide to strain out the watered down scotch when he sends it back and top it off with our rail scotch which is House of Stuart which costs about 4 dollars a bottle and of course after that he is happy with his selection. Amoral possibly, uncalled for? I don't know.
Why won't bars stock good vermouth?
I'd like to see some very small bottles of premium vermouth. Maybe 6-8oz. I guess the cost of packaging might make this impossible though.
As far as seeing it in the average bar I don't think it will happen anytime soon if ever. I know the bar manager at the place where i work doesn't even realize that vermouth has a shelf life.
Duck fat--Baltimore
Ordering direct from D'Artagnan is fairly cheap too. (At least for duck fat.)The tubs are smaller than HVFG but the shipping is only eight dollars for two day delivery.
On a related note where does everyone buy their duck legs or whole ducks? I'm in the Annapolis area and the only place I've seen for Moulard duck is to special order it from one of the area butchers.
