What and Where to Eat in New York City
One inaccuracy I noticed is that a couple of the photos are mis-captioned. The first photo is not of the elegant Modern Bar Room; it's of Eataly. (The photo labeled as "Eataly" is actually the Bar Room at the Modern.)

Need affordable vegan-friendly resto for double date near American Museum of Natural History
Josie's is vegan-friendly.
Best restaurant bars for drinks
I went there for after-dinner drinks a couple of week ago. The bar area is beautiful, the service was warm, and the cocktails cost about what high-end drinks cost at other good bars and restaurants. I wish they still offered the two-course lunch menu, though.
Favorite Bottled Root Beer
I usually don't like soda, but I love Virgil's root beer. It's brewed with real spices and cane sugar. Every once in a while I treat myself to a root beer float, and this stuff is the only root beer that's worth the indulgence. I know they carry it at Fairway, and I think the ginger beer company, Reed's, has bought it; it should be available at Whole Foods. (Virgil's is much better root beer than Reed's is ginger beer.)
The Best New England Ice Cream Journey
Thank you of reminding me of Dr. Mike's in Bethel, CT. I lived there as a child before I moved abroad. I remember the ice cream shop with a screened door in the back of the doctor's office. The chocolate lace with hot fudge ruined me for other hot fudge sundaes; no other ice cream dessert has ever been as decadent and delicious. I live in NYC now, so I should make a trip back!
Any Vegan Ice Cream Places??
My favorite by far is the soy-based soft serve at Kyotofu on 9th Ave. at 48th St. The two flavors change weekly. It's addictive -- even my friend who usually makes fun of vegan treats is hooked!

Good Vegan Bakery in Manhattan?
Kyotofu on 9th Ave. at 48th St. has wonderful vegan treats. The soymilk soft serve is addictive.

Babbo dining time
Babbo is wonderful, and it would be a shame to rush a meal there. Also, most Broadway theaters are "dark" on Mondays.

Help A Limey Out?
Frank and Max have tasty food, but they are are both very casual and cramped. The service can also be very poor at Frank. I would not consider them to be romantic spots for a date. I think Apizz is a better recommendation, and two could eat romantic Italian for $150 at Lupa, as long as they don't go crazy with the wine.
I second Cookshop as a fun place to eat solo at the bar. I also love Txikito for Basque tapas.

Searching for good, but casual place pre-theatre near Barrow Street Theatre, West Village and Other Dinner Recs.
'Ino on Bedford is a wonderful small plate and panino place that's walkable to the Barrow St. Theater, and they serve wine. Blue Ribbon Bakery, on Downing is also excellent, but it's less casual. They have fantastic desserts, too.
Shakespeare in the Park is in a beautiful outdoor theater, so there's no picnicking during the show. There are great specialty grocery stores on the Upper West Side, such as Fairway and Zabar's, and the Shake Shack with the shortest line is on Columbus at 77th St. near the park.

Good delivery options in Greenwich Village?
I'm glad you enjoyed your meal there, but I don't think Cafe EspaƱol is a Chow-worthy restaurant. It presents itself as a Spanish place, but they serve corn tortilla chips and (jarred) salsa when customers sit down. Also, I ordered a glass of cava, and they put a maraschino cherry in it. I'm from Spain; this is not a good Spanish restaurant, and I don't think they know much about quality food service in general (or care -- it caters to NYU students who want to get drunk on sangria). I don't know if Las Ramblas delivers, but it's an unpretentious tapas bar with tasty food in the same neighborhood.

such thing as hashbrowns in NYC?
There is an IHOP in Harlem (and at least one other in the Bronx). They're gross. Also, there was a controversy years ago when the Harlem location opened because it required patrons to pay their checks before they were served. If you don't trust the people in a community, spare them your processed, industrial food, and stay in the suburbs.
Best Ice Cream Parlors In Manhattan Besides Serendipity?
Otto does have good ice cream, but the front bar area only has high, counter-style and no seats, so it could be awkward for a person in a wheelchair. I would recommend Grom on Bleeker because there's room to sit n the park. Also, Whole Foods on Bowery has a Ciao Bella outpost downstairs and lots of tables and seating upstairs that's accessible by elevators.

Cheap food near Highline Ballroom
For large portions of tasty and cheap Puerto Rican food made with love, there's La Taza de Oro on 8th Ave. at 15th St. It's small, though, so it wouldn't work for a large group. Empire Szechuan on 9th and 24th is good, too.

News on Trader Joe's on UWS?
You are a genius, Uptown! I live close to the vacant Fine Fare intersection at 145th St., and it would be a brilliant place for TJ's to launch a store. The space at 72nd and Broadway is already served by Fairway, Zabar's and Citarella.
your favorite desserts that make you fly like scooby doo
I've had Alto's Toronne; it's rich and delicious. I love desserts, but I try not to order them too often. Two that I can never resist, though, are Txikito's chocolate flan with brandied whipped cream and Balthazar's profiteroles. Also, if you like PB & J, Chocolate Bar in the W. Village has dark chocolate-covered PB & J patties (as well as Elvis-inspired PB, banana, and marshmallow ones).

Eleven Madison Park for lunch, what dish do you recommend to order?
I ate lunch there two weeks ago, and I had the lemon pasta with crab and black pepper. It was divine -- so rich and flavorful.

Looking for British Chocolate near Union Square/flatiron
It's not in the right neighborhood for you, but the best selection of British chocolate I've seen in NYC is at Fairway. It's always located near the registers -- (real) Cadbury bars, Aeros, Flake, Smarties, etc.
Has anyone had experience with ice cream cakes from Sundaes and Cones?
I went to a party where the hostess served ice cream cakes from that spot. They looked beautiful and tasted delicious.
Top 5 Most Underrated Restaurants in NYC
Sorry, Polecat, but I think Margie's has closed.
Momofuko - David Chang Veggie Dinner at James Beard House
I was thinking the same thing, KTinNYC. I saw an announcement for the JBH Chang dinner, and it refers to the fact that his "menus have famously warned off non-meat eaters."
fish tacos?
There is no crust on La Esquina's fish -- it's grilled. I'll check out Pinche, though.
Where can I get a great tuna burger in NYC?
This is an older post, but last night I had a delicious tuna burger with guacamole at 202 on Ninth Ave. (odd, but pleasant setting in Nicole Farhi's clothing store). It comes with plantain chips, but I substituted fries. I used to like the Odeon's tuna burger, but it's very expensive and not as good as it used to be.
Traditional Petit Fours- Where to Buy
I've seen pretty ones in the bakery case at the Columbus Circle Whole Foods. They're a bit bigger than the traditional square petit fours, and they're rectangular. I'm curious about how they taste, because they look lovely.
