Weight your own vegetables at Wegmans

I weigh my own produce but it isn't a store requirement nor should it be an expectation of any customer behind you.

Honestly, I can't say I have even paid attention to see if the person in front of me has/has not pre-weighed their vegetables.

What's for Dinner #331 - the Pumpkin Carving Edition [through 10/26/14]

Tonight's dinner was toad in a hole, onion gravy and a spicy blend of mixed lettuces from my local farm stand dressed with a mustard vinaigrette.

It was divine!

What cookbooks have you bought recently, or are you lusting after? January 2014 edition! [Through January 31, 2014]

This is good to know! …I saw one of the Jamie Oliver Yearbooks last year and was intrigued but didn't buy it. A couple days later I decided to go back to the bookstore to have another look and it was nowhere in sight.

…heading to the bookstore tomorrow to see what I can find ;)

What's for Dinner #267 -- January Thaw Edition [through January 15, 2014]

I had a craving for easy comfort food so I ended up making a buffalo chicken dip; served with celery sticks, wheat crackers and a crisp white wine.

Need some help with popping popcorn.

I have always had great success with this technique - http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/...

I hope it works for you!

What cookbooks have you bought recently, or are you lusting after? January 2014 edition! [Through January 31, 2014]

I visited a local bookstore a few days after Christmas to scope out must have books. A nice man approached me and struck up a conversation about cookbook collections. He asked if I know Darina Allen (I did not), he sang her praises and before I knew it I was leaving the bookstore with her 'Forgotten Skills of Cooking' book.

Once I arrived home I poured a glass of wine and sat down with the book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and am really looking forward to having some "down time" to cook from it. What a wonderful purchase!

Brrr!

Lunch was leftover spicy thai chicken red curry sautéed with broccoli, savoy cabbage and red bell pepper. Tonight I am making wet beef and bean burritos; serving with guacamole and tortilla chips.

Enjoy your Saturday, everyone! Go Chiefs!

What's for Dinner #263. "Can I hear him yet?" [through December 30, 2013]

I made a pot of chili this afternoon. Serving with pepper jack, scallions, fritos and sour cream.

I am hungry!

What Are You Planning For New Years Day?

I am planning to make spicy cajun red bean and rice soup with andouille sausage (first time) and a side of corn bread.

Best entree salad in Northern Virginia

My favorite entree salad is the grilled shrimp salad at Sea Pearl in Falls Church (Gallows Road). Second is the Thai filet tip salad at Sea Pearl.

The Great American Restaurant group makes great salads. Try Sweetwater or Coastal Flats in the area you requested.

Sunday lunch off 95 - Fredericksburg to Richmond

We will be traveling from DC to Richmond on Sunday (4/22) and would like to have a brunch/lunch on the way to Richmond or in Richmond itself. There will be about 8 of us.

We are not picky - the only criteria is GREAT food.

Thank you in advance!

What's For Dinner? #125 [Old]

I quartered some large green olives and blistered them in olive oil with a hefty amount of crushed red pepper. I added about four cups of my homemade marinara sauce, simmered for 30 minutes and served over whole wheat linguine. Fresh parmesan on top. Spicy comfort food at its finest.

Italian casserole?

Giada's Chicken Tettrazini is delicious!

I also enjoy this Giada dish. I use less pasta (I like it saucier) and have added Italian sausage to take it a little further. You can also use any combo of vegetables you choose - http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/gi...

Enjoy!
