Sunday lunch off 95 - Fredericksburg to Richmond

We will be traveling from DC to Richmond on Sunday (4/22) and would like to have a brunch/lunch on the way to Richmond or in Richmond itself. There will be about 8 of us.

We are not picky - the only criteria is GREAT food.

Thank you in advance!

Looking for inspiration for green beans

This is one of my favorite ways to make green beans - so so so good! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/french-string-beans-recipe2/index.html

What's for Dinner #128 [old]

Tonight we made a beef broth, veggie and meatball soup with ciabatta garlic bread. It hit the spot!

What's For Dinner? #125 [Old]

I quartered some large green olives and blistered them in olive oil with a hefty amount of crushed red pepper. I added about four cups of my homemade marinara sauce, simmered for 30 minutes and served over whole wheat linguine. Fresh parmesan on top. Spicy comfort food at its finest.

What's for Dinner #124 [old]

Hungarian goulash has been simmering since 3pm. I will serve the goulash with homemade spaetzle tossed in a bit of butter and parsley.

What's for Dinner #124 [old]

Potato soup topped with cheddar, chives and bacon. It completely hit the spot.

Italian casserole?

Giada's Chicken Tettrazini is delicious!

I also enjoy this Giada dish. I use less pasta (I like it saucier) and have added Italian sausage to take it a little further. You can also use any combo of vegetables you choose - http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/baked-penne-with-roasted-vegetables-recipe/index.html

Enjoy!

What's For Dinner? #122 [Old]

I, too, have a cold. I made lemon chicken soup and spinach and melted fontina cheese bruschetta. Very comforting.

New Soup Thread for 2012...

I agree!

Vegetarian Ragu

I made this a couple of years ago and remember it being very good. Maybe you can compare recipes, or even use this one instead -

What's for dinner? #121 - 2012 Introductory Edition! [old]

Tonight's dinner was individual filet wellingtons with a side of sautéed brussels sprouts and blanched green beans tossed with lemon zest and toasted almonds.

December 2011 Cookbook of the Month Nominations

I really like 150 Best American Recipes and hope to revisit it with everyone during COTM. Good choice!

Cooking for the season's first snow day

All of your meals sound comforting and divine. I was craving something stewy and starchy, so guiness beef stew over mashed potatoes it is. Stay warm and safe everyone!

Menu for Summer Backyard Birthday Party

This sounds delicious! Can you describe the 3inch cross-shaped cut?

What's For Dinner? Part 90 [old]

I have a roast in the oven that has been sprinkled with thyme, salt and pepper and then topped with sliced onions, stewed tomatoes and beef broth. This will be served with mashed cauliflower and a green salad.

What's For Dinner? Part 90 [old]

I just love that meatloaf! Enjoy!

Help! My friend just had a baby and I want to bring her lunch. What do I bring?

Your friend will appreciate anything you do.

I love the quiche/frittata idea. I also love the idea of a mediterranean spread, a greek salad with some pita, hummus, olives, etc.

I ALSO like the soup idea, think tomato soup and ingredients for grilled cheese sandwiches? Another idea that came to mind is some pulled pork/chicken, rolls, pasta salad. A friend brought us enchiladas after our summer baby was born and they were a big hit.

For dessert a seasonal fruit crisp and some vanilla ice cream would also be great.

What's For Dinner? Part 90 [old]

We are going to put a few mojo marinated chickens in the smoker, cumin-lime coleslaw and green chili cheddar corn muffins. Blueberry crisp for dessert.

What's for Dinner? Part 80 - Old

One of my family's favorites, CI's Chicken Tikka Masala with Basmati rice (taking advantage of the cold weather).

What's for Dinner? Part 80 - Old

I love PP's meatloaf with the very hot sauce! I need to add these recipes to my "to make" list.

What's for Dinner? Part 77 (Old)

Leftover buffalo chicken dip served with crackers and celery O_O ...it is a comfort food kind of day?

So good that you make it over and over again (or at least 3 times!)

Giada's Chicken Tetrazzini is delicious!!!

What's for Dinner? Part 76 (Old)

It is a rainy Sunday, we will be having white chicken chili topped with monterey jack, scallions, diced jalapenos and crumbled tortilla chips. Beer.

MARCH COTM IS JAMIE OLIVER'S NAKED CHEF COLLECTION AND JAMIE'S ITALY!!

Jamie at Home is my favorite so far! I am looking forward to this months COTM.

NOVA Winery - Fall Brunch/ Afternoon Wine Tasting for Group

I would call the vineyards/wineries. How many people?

I have been to fabbioli and didn't see seating for a "group," but I am sure they can guarantee that. I know tarara has quite a bit of land, but I didn't look for seating for a group when I was there. Tarara does host weddings, it has private spaces/rooms (?) and will put up a tent on their land.

I recently visited Hillsborough in Purcellville(www.hillsboroughwine.com). This vineyard had enough seating inside and out to host a larger group on one of their patios or inside area.

Good luck! I am eager to hear where you end up having the shower.

What's For Dinner? Part 72 [OLD]

Cauliflower soup from Around My French Table and gruyere paninis.

COTM NOMINATIONS FOR MARCH 2011

JAMIE OLIVER MONTH!

I have made a handful of recipes from Jamie at Home with much success. I also own Jamie's Food Revolution, which I haven't cooked from.

immersion blender?

I didn't realize how much I use/"need" my immersion blender until mine died and I didn't replace it for about two months. I was never more happy when my new one arrived, but I also don't own a blender...never had a "need" for one of those! :P
