What's your top 5 favorite places for lunch in OC?

Yes. Their cabeza tacos have been my favorite so far, and their tamales during the holidays were really good, too. I will have to get down to one of the other locations to try that torta cubana.

Korean in Irvine

+1 on Urban Seoul for something different. I also like Shik Do Rak for BBQ.

Favorite food items at Disneyland (ex. Club 33)?

Really? I drive by there all the time. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

L.A. Dish of the Month, June 2015 -- PIZZA

North OC is not a hotbed of great pizza, especially at lunch, but here goes...

Had the black & blue pizza at Craftsman Wood Fired Pizza for lunch yesterday. Tri tip, mozzerella, blue cheese and jalapenos. Not bad, but a bit heavy on the blue cheese for my taste, but the jalapenos were surprisingly mellow. I was looking for something different, but I don't think I'd get this one again. I do like their crust; it has a nice chew and cooked through. I've enjoyed their other pizzas (their bacon arugula pie is really good).

I'm going to try to get into Fuoco this month. Their Funghi e Salsiccia and Margherita pies are awesome. I will probably get over to Mammalucco's at some point as well (decent but not great New York style pizza).

I also love Tony's Little Italy for Chicago style pizza.

Favorite food items at Disneyland (ex. Club 33)?

Corn dogs, turkey legs, and Dole whip are all winners for me. I also liked the braised short ribs (not spectacular, but good for Dland) and Monte Cristo at Blue Bayou. Based on this post, I will need to try the fried chicken and lobster roll.

Cherries Jubilee? Where?

They are closed, but hey, it's been 8 years since that post.

It's pretty slim pickings in OC, but you could try a Yelp search. Dal Rae in Pico Rivera still has it. Happy hunting.

Weekend in Newport Beach Report

I've heard mixed reviews on Social, but people that I know and trust have been there and liked it. It's on my list of places to try, but I agree with you RE: The Mix.

Weekend in Newport Beach Report

I agree with your take on Taco Maria. Make sure you get the wine pairings with dinner.

As much as I enjoy Vietnamese, I haven't had the opportunity to really delve into Little Saigon, so I will defer to others on that. Thai Nakorn in Stanton is great. Stick to the Northern Thai dishes.

Weekend in Newport Beach Report

I don't think you can beat either one of those. I finally got in to try Taco Maria on Friday night. It was amazing. Better if you have a travel companion who doesn't mind sharing so you can sample the entire menu. Also in that center is Pueblo, which is great for small plates.

If you're heading further north, Early Bird in Fullerton is a must-try for breakfast.

Is there any particular type of food you're looking for?

L.A. Dish of the Month, June 2015 -- Nominations

While I agree with you, the spirit of DotM (at least as I see it) is to get out of the box and go out and try something that we wouldn't otherwise. I was chided for voting for burgers a few months ago because there are so many burger threads on this board, but I tried at least 3-5 new burger places because of DotM. YMMV.

With that said...

Any good familiar restaurant in Laguna Beach?

+1 on Nick's. Their fish sandwich is excellent, too.

Any good familiar restaurant in Laguna Beach?

+1 on Brussels Bistro. I was there a couple of months ago and had a great braised lamb shank. The Belgian beers are great, too.

Thumbs down on brunch at Taco Maria

I agree. I'm skeptical about any "holiday" menu and usually skip even my favorite spots in favor of cooking something better at home. I also agree with the comment below that brunch is an extremely poor yardstick for measuring the quality of a restaurant.

Leo's Tacos - 4 Locations? How are they?

It's a vertical spit on which al pastor is cooked.

What's your top 5 favorite places for lunch in OC?

Okay, A5 Kobe. I spoke with the owner of the Yorba Linda Tacos San Pedro today at lunch. The locations in Anaheim and Hawaiian Gardens are not related to the Yorba Linda location, but they are related to each other.

Regardless, I ordered the torta Cubana and was unimpressed. As much as I like their other offerings, I wouldn't order this again. It wasn't bad at all, it's just not the best they have to offer.

I also had a cabeza taco today that was really good.

L.A. Dish of the Month, May 2015 -- Curry

It never hurts to ask. The owner has always been really friendly when I've been in.

L.A. Dish of the Month, May 2015 -- Curry

It looks from their menu like they only chicken offering is a grilled teriyaki sandwich. Sorry if the attached menu is tough to read. You can see a better copy on Yelp.

Good Mexican resto in Temecula?

You might want to try posting on the California board for better results.

FWIW, I've been to The Bank, and it's been pretty good (get the carnitas). It's been a few years though.

L.A. Dish of the Month, May 2015 -- Curry

Katsu Curry sandwich at Mr. Katsu (with curry potato puffs, of course). The curry had nice spice, and there was plenty of it, yet it didn't overpower the sandwich. Very well balanced. This place has yet to disappoint.

Jagerhaus: True Love

I haven't. How does it compare with Phoenix Club? My experiences at Loreley (Phoenix Club) were years ago. We were usually invited by friends. I always thought it was good, but not great. I've only been to Jagerhaus a few times, and it hasn't been on my radar screen. Thanks for putting it back on there.

What's your top 5 favorite places for lunch in OC?

Nott usually a wait at the bar, and my experience is that the wait for a table is 20 minutes or less if you get there by 11:00-11:15.

I'll have to try those. I've had their tacos (cabeza, al pastor, etc.) and tried their tamales during the holidays. I agree. These guys are legit.

What's your top 5 favorite places for lunch in OC?

We're neighbors! I've been in Placentia for about 15 years.

Tried Oasis last week. Really good stuff. I'll be back. D Vine is also really good, although more expensive. You're right, options are more limited than further south. It makes me miss working in Irvine. There are some good options up here if you look for them. Others I'm enjoying up here:

Olive Pit
On the Hook
El Pueblito
Tacos San Pedro
Mr. Katsu
Stefano's
PK Burgers
Bruxie
Molcasalsa
Rae G Cafe
El Farolito
El Taco Sabroso
Rubalcava's

Gonna have to get a katsu curry sandwich at Mr. Katsu for DotM.

Thanks!

I never did get try Vishnu, and now my office is in Brea *sigh*. I'll have to figure out a way to get in there. My Fiance and I are trying to carve out a kid-less night to (finally) get in to Taco Maria.
