How do you Spam?

Absolutely! I've been known to add a couple of tomato slices, too.

Delivery to Anaheim hotel?

You can try Restaurants Express (https://www.restaurantsexpress.com). They deliver from a variety of restaurants. Nothing earth shattering on the quality of the restaurants, but it will give you some choices.

Best lunch in Costa Mesa/Irvine/Santa Ana for under $10

I'm with you on Taqueria 2 Guys. I'm also a regular at Zamora (their chilaquiles and machaca are excellent), but you're right about their tacos. They're great, but too big to have more than two.

My recollection of Sahuayo Primo is that the tacos are the smaller "street" sized tacos, and they're awesome. Definitely worth a try. Bradbury's post reminded me that I haven't been there in waaaay too long.

Should Orange County have their own board?

I'm in OC (I know you're all absolutely floored by that revelation), and I've had that thought, too. BUT, I have really come to enjoy posts from the LA posters, and I get to LA just enough to stay interested in those posts.

Also, I don't think that there are enough postings about OC to warrant having its own board. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that I have gone days at times without seeing a post about OC.

What I've come to do instead is keep an eye out for posts by (in no particular order, and apologies for any omissions) Porthos, josephnl, js76wisco, JAB, OCAnn, OCEllen, etc.

So chalk up a no-vote from an OC poster.

La Restaurants with Oxtail

I'll chime in for OC on this. Bella Cuba in Santa Ana (across from South Coast Plaza) has a great oxtail dish.

L.A. Co-Dishes of the Month, July 2014: FRIED CHICKEN (and Chicken Fried) and FROZEN DAIRY-BASED DESSERT PRODUCTS

Buttermilk Fried Chicken at Nick's Laguna Beach on Sunday. As much as I love their other offerings (fish sandwich, short rib tacos and fried asparagus are all great), this one fell short. Chicken was a little dry. Batter wasn't bad, but nothing special; crispy and held onto the chicken well. The biscuit and potatoes were fine, but a bit much on the carbs. The consistency of the gravy was okay, if a little thin, but the flavor was unremarkable. I will go back to Nick's, but not for this. The version at Reunion Kitchen in Anaheim Hills (went a couple of months ago but didn't make it for DotM) blows this out of the water.

WUM was my go-to for a quick fix when they opened. Not great, but good enough. Kopan Ramen in downtown Fullerton is better, but still falls short of places in CM.

Orange County: your list of current top steak houses?

You are absolutely right! I hadn't heard about it. I guess it's been awhile since I've been.

Orange County: your list of current top steak houses?

Not at all on the restaurant side. It's completely separate from the saloon, and I don't recall even being able to hear music from the saloon in the restaurant. The atmosphere is really comfortable, very similar to Houston's.

While I love a good beer (and their selection does suck), their wine cellar is top notch, and their master sommelier, Michael Jordan, is great at giving guidance on wine selection without being condescending or stuffy. As such, I usually go for a martini before dinner and wine with that amazing steak.

The Cowboy Ribeye at THE RANCH (their caps, not mine) is the best steak I've had in Orange County and one of the best ever.

Had the Chili Peppa Chicken (garlic flavor) at Da Hawaiian in Huntington Beach today for lunch. Skin was crispy and chicken was tender. A really good lunch IMO. Also had the kalbi which had a glaze/sauce on it that I'm not used to, but it was also very good. One thing I wasn't crazy about was the mac salad. Not very creamy; almost mealy. I'm pretty sure it had potato in it. Overall a great lunch. I will be back. Photo courtesy of my lovely dining companion.

Taking One For The Team--The $10 Juicy Lucy Burger

It looks like the business is for sale for $425,000. I wasn't able to get full details, but if there is a lease in place, that would likely be part of the sale deal. I didn't find anything for lease. Not sure if this link will work but....

The Pastrami List 2014

Good to know. I had a pot roast hash years ago in Sioux Falls, SD that was amazing but haven't ever been able to find it here.

Is there a terrific Jewish style deli in OC?

In my personal experience (ex wife is Jewish), it's been Benjie's and Katella (more Benjie's). I agree with moreplease's assessment on demographics. I heard many complaints from then-in-laws about the lack of resources for Jewish folks in OC (holiday cards, food, etc.). I can empathize. I have come to love Jewish food (even took on cooking the brisket on holidays) and wish there were a great deli option down here.

Is there a terrific Jewish style deli in OC?

Benjie's isn't terrible in my experience, but I agree with others saying it can't compete with Langer's, Brent's, et al.

Slater's 50/50 - Pasadena

The other problem for me is that they must cook the 50/50 patty past medium rare, so I avoid it. I do enjoy their all-beef burgers, though.

Which wine tasting room in Temecula has the best red wine?

I'll caveat this by saying that I don't recall ever having my mind blown by great wine in Temecula. Last time I was out there, I really enjoyed Hart. It's (or was) one of the few "old school" tasting rooms left out there. No frills, but some really good wine.

Carnitas Burritos in the San Gabriel Valley?

I haven't been in years, but Omanas in South El Monte (SEC Rush and Central) had great carnitas burritos and was a great value.

Harry's Deli Update

Agreed. Cities and regulatory agencies seem to operate on their own time table. I talked to Chef Ritter at SKC in January about their beer and wine license. He's been hearing "any day now" for months.

It does seem like a long time, but not outside the realm of possibility when you add insurance companies and others into the mix.

You would have a hard time finding _________in Los Angeles...

I love the Phoenix Club for Oktoberfest and their Sunday brunch, but other than that, the restaurant has slipped in the sit-down dining room over the past 10 years or so. Fewer menu items, and the food at Jagerhaus is much better quality.
