Best Neighborhood to stay in Melbourne
Hi Everyone,
I'm travelling to Australia in 3 weeks. I'm staying with friends in Sydney, but need a recommendation for the best neighborhood to stay in Melbourne. Looking at hotels in the CBD (Stamford Plaza on Little Collins and Alfred Place, or the Hotel Causeway on Little Collins and Royal Ln) and Carlton (the Downtowner on Lygon on Lygon and Queensberry).
We will stay Tuesday - Friday night in Feb and I'm concerned that the CBD gets quiet after work hours during the week (I read this in a few reviews on various websites). Would anyone have a recommendation of one neighborhood over the other? Or are they close enough to one another that it won't really matter. Also, if you have any advice/experience on the hotels I've listed (or others of similar price I've overlooked) please let me know. Everyone's restaurant advice has been so helpful in planning our trip. Now only if I could pick a place to stay. Thanks! MegRhi
First Date near St. Mark's Place?
It's not Japanese, but Paprika on St. Marks is Northern Italian so your date should be able to find something. www.paprikanyc.com It's a cozy, neighborhood type place. And St. Dymphna's a few doors down is a great low key bar to get a drink at after.
