Cheap and VERY good samosas?
www.streetgrub.com has a couple of carts that serve samosas. But, your best bet might be to check out the restaurants in the Curry Hill area.
Curry Hill: Lex. between 30th/26th
Stamford, CT
Coromandel in Darien and Dakshin in Stamford are run by the same group.

food cart question - what makes it so GOOD?
Well if you like the chicken with the orangish color, then you don't want to try 53rd and 6th. Halal foods at 53rd and 6th don't use the tandoori spices you find at the other street carts; they simply use salt, pepper and garlic (I think).
Check out www.streetgrub.com for a list of NYC street carts.
Food carts in Manhattan
www.streetgrub.com has a list of street carts in NYC. It also has reviews and ratings for the carts.
If you want to return home to tell your friends that you ate at the famous 53rd and 6th chicken and rice place, then do just that. But, if all you're interested in is good meat and rice platters, then I urge you to try either Hamed's Halal Foods or Aziz's Halal Foods.
Have a hot dog, but you must try a wurst from Hallo Berlin.
An interesting cart to try is NY Dosa; Dosa is a south Indian crepe, usually served with savory accoutrements. This cart is touted as the only Dosa cart in North America.
Daisy May's carts serve SOME OF the best BBQ sandwiches and chili in NYC.
Want a falafel that tastes like it was made in the Middle East? Head over to Moshe's Falafel.
There are a lot more where these came from, and they are all on www.streetgrub.com
Enjoy our amazing city.
Halal Carts in Chelsea
The famous Chicken and Rice guy on the SW corner of 53rd and 6th is good. He started the whole Halal food cart business in the 80's, but isn't the best. So, who is the best? Well that depends on what the individual person likes, each cart has its own style/flavor. Hamed's on the SE corner of 53rd and 6th is better in my opinion, his rice is more flavorful and he actually spices his chicken instead of just using salt and pepper. Tiger Halal is also a very strong contender; they have a spicy rice.
good eats 55th/2nd ave
Awesome burgers at Jimbo's Hamburger Place on 1st Ave, Btwn 54th & 55th St. Angelo's pizza is great (similar to Patsy's). Try the tuna melt at the Plaza Diner.
