Traveling from NYC for Girls Trip this Wkend - Need Restaurant Suggestions

I'm traveling to Boston this Saturday 2/19 with my sister and friend. We are all girls in our mid-late 20's living in NYC. Looking to go somewhere trendy on Saturday night and somewhere more low-key on Sunday night. Also interested in good (affordable) lunch spots. Willing to spend up to $30 for an entree on dinner (not including drinks, appet, dessert, etc.).

So far here are my thoughts. Would love comments on the below/ additional suggestions. Basically looking to go to the "hot" restaurant on Saturday night and somewhere good, but low-key Sunday. Would also be open to recs of places that are absoultely outstanding for their food (i.e. the best think I ever ate was the X at X). Open in terms of cuisine, anywhere with delish margs would be esp. welcomed.

Saturday
Dinner - Noche, Lolita or 28 Degrees
Drinks - 28 Degrees or Clink

Sunday
Brunch - Mooo
Dinner - Franklin Cafe
Drinks - Was hoping for some type of Irish pub. Nothing with a college-crowd though.

Thanks!

Led Zeppoli

rumor has it it opens today.

RW Plan & Attack

Pretty sure Fig & Olive always has a pre fixe deal, may want to save that for another time and go elsewhere for rw. Le Cirque is great, One If By Land, food is OK, but it's cool for atmosphere. Legend has it it's haunted.

RE: gluten free pizza?

Mozzarelli's has soy in it.

Best burger in the UES?

It's an odd choice, but I love the burger at Chirpin' Chicken on first and 66th. A fast food type place, but one of the best burgers around...

Restaurant Week Le Cirque Opinions

Great RW. Went in the spring of last year. Delicious food and good service. Creme Brulee there is amazing.

Quiet, inexpensive Italian or Continental in Murray Hill or UES with an elderly couple?

Beach Cafe. 2nd Avenue in the low 70's. Decent food, inexpensive and a wide array of choices. Very mature crowd.

Hot Chocolate

A few weeks ago I had the most delicious hot chocolate shot at a Christmas party and I'm still dreaming about it. It tasted like it was made with melted milk chocolate and pure cream. I think hot chocolate made with heavy cream is formally referred to as "Italian Hot Chocolate"? Does anyone know where I could find something similar? Tried City Bakery, it was almost there, but not quite. The Italian Hot Chocolate at Max Brenner is the closest thing that compares. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks!

Best Cupcakes in NYC?

Butter Lane in the East Village (E. 7th Bet 1st and A). Had the chocolate cupcake with French Vanilla frosting. AMAZING. Kind of small and a little pricier ($3), but well worth it.

Festively Decorated Christmas Brunch

Looking for a brunch that is served on Saturdays at a restaurant that would be festively decorated for the holiday season. Flex on price and neighborhood, but would prefer to stay in the UES / midtown east area. My sister and I do this yearly, past brunches have been at Tavern on the Green and the Rainbow Room. OK if place is touristy as long as it is festive. Thanks in advance.

Just saw this at Food Emporium Bridge Market on 59th and 1st. I feel like I never see it in stores. Can't wait to try!

Summer '09 Restaurant Week - plans, reviews

Chinatown Brasserie's RW was great! Had Ribs, Dim Sum Dumplings, Crispy Chicken (This was dark meat so I wasn't a huge fan as I don't care for dark meat) and these delish custard baos. Service was attentive and not rude and portions were large. Also, if you get there a little early during happy hour you can get half price drinks at the bar. The bar also has really cheap apps for happy hour - would def come back for those. We sat outside, but the atmosphere inside was very pretty.

Also enjoyed a delicious RW as Le Cirque. Portions were tiny, but food and service were great. Certainly a good deal being that prices are usually quite high.

Went to RW at Mercer Kitchen - food was good, but service unattentive and rude. Also had RW dinner at Centrico. Food and service both average, margs awful.

Mexican in NYC?

Cilantro has great margs.

"Second Tier": Special Occasion Dinner (suggestions)

How about Balthazar or Pastis?

21 Club, Estiatorio Milos, Osteria del Circo, Quality Meats Infant Friendly?

Totally agree. Don't bring an infant to 21.

Inside Park @ St. Barts

Can't vouch for the food. Cocktails are very pricey. I had the sangria, people rave about it, but I've had far better. It is a pretty spot though. Worth going once to check it out.

Post Dinner drink spot in Meatpacking District

Plunge and Cabanas are both great recs, but after dinner will most likely have a line to get in esp. on a Friday. The Garden at Ono is outdoors and is also nice, but will also surely have a line.

5 Ninth is good, less likely to have a line. STK also a good spot, but indoors.

Best lunch spot in SoHo?

Hampton Chutney is not a terrible suggestion. It's more a fast food-ish scene, but it is innovative and good.

Birthday dinner restaurant recommendation

OIBL's food is very average. Is worth going to see the place, as it is different than your average restaurant. Known as a 'proposal spot', so your gf may be looking for more than a bday dinner if you take her there, lol.

Another suggestion, Buddakhan is an excellent and a fun scene.

Where do the stars eat?

21 Club (Saw Liza Minelli, Barbara Walters)
Primola (Saw some of the cast from Gossip Girl, always on Page Six for celebrity sitings)

New York Restaurant Week Summer 2009 Extensions to Labour Day

China Grill
Asia de Cuba
Ono (I think)
I'm pretty sure all China Grill Management restaurants are extending their menu. Google the Ono RW menu it lists them at the bottom.

Best Spanish Food in Manhattan

Bar Carerra

High Line suggestions?

Paradou has a great unlimited champagne brunch. $30 ( a real steal bc a cocktail goes for $15 normally and it includes an entree). Numerous types of champagne cocktails included in the deal. Portions of food were small, but good. And the outdoor garden was really cute. Make reservations as it is small and it does tend to be a bit noisey.

Sangria!

Calle Ocho has a great unlimited Sangria brunch with 8 different variations. It was pretty good.

Any thoughts on Centrico for RW?
