Thanks for the info, I will start making a map :)

Herzelia (Israel): What's a must?

Hi,

I will be going to Herzelia at the end of October for a 4-day training. What are your recommendations? What should I absolutely taste and what not?

Wine Club in Athens?

I managed to passby today, but it seems that it has closed and there is now a cafeteria in it's place.
This is unfortunate because it was very good and you could find lots of different wines from small vineyards. Too bad :( :(

Wine Club in Athens?

I will try to go by there today and give you an update and some additional info if any.

Wine Club in Athens?

Should I presume that it;s not there anymore?

Wine Club in Athens?

There was a wine shop/vault (kava) near Panormou Sqr called Svolos (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=9952362385890424800&q=svolos,athens.greece&hl=en&cd=1&cad=src:pplink&ei=Rov1SoWPL8yi_Qazx9WUAg&sig2=ybQX0vlOd8NQ9lWy2Do0SA) that had wines from small producers across Greece. They also used to do wine tasting, seminars etc.

I dont know if they are still there and if they still that stuff, but it had a treasure of wines to taste.

Must eats in Santorini

I had stayed in Santorini (Ia, on the North Side of the Islandm and were you can see the best sunset) and have quiet a few lunches & dinners at "Skala" (translates to stair).

SKALA ( Ia ) Phone : +30 22860 - 71562

Beware, there is at leasr on other taverna called Skala in the main city (Fira), so look for this one.

Ia is a very pleasant village to visit anyhow.

Souvlaki

In general, Souvlaki is made from pork. You may also find chicken souvlaki or chicken-bacon souvlaki.

There is also Gyros (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyros) which is from pork or chicken. Beef or lamb gyros is known as doner-kebab.

cutting edge food in Greece.

Hi,

I have found anthotiro in the big supermarkets like Slavenitis & AB-Vasilopoulos.

You can find 2 types: the unsalted (light) version and the regular one.

I have a (Cretan) friend whose brother has recently open a shop with cretan goods (cheese and stuff) If you are really in to it, I can find the address and telephone.

Also a very nice resaurant is Eleas Gi ( http://www.eleasgi.gr/ ) in Politia. It's not on the cheap side, but not very expensive. They have a full menu (depending on the season) consisting of 20-25 plates (mezedes). This cost about 50 euro per person (last time I went), and you can re-order as many plates as you like.
It's good to go whith at least one more couple as the food is abandunt.

BR,
Dimitris

Souvlaki

there are variations of how the souvlaki is served. The actual "souvlaki" is just the meat on the small wooden skewer.
Serving proposals are:
1. Plain (with a splash on lemon and oregano)
2. In a pitta bread with various condiments (tomato, tzatziki, onions etc)
3. In a bread roll with various condiments (tomato, tzatziki, onions etc) or only splashed with lemon and (maybe) oregano.

All these are regarded "true".

Decent Chinese in Athens?

A very good Chinese restaurant (which also does deliveries) is located in Peristeri (Koritsas 29 & Kiprou) called BEIJING. I have been eating here for more than 3 years and up till now, the quality is top notch. Prices are below average (for a Chinese Restaurant n Athens)
