Minetta Tavern Alternative?
I'm looking for a fun restaurant with good food. Pretty generic, but that's really it. Any suggestions?
Dinner in the area of 11th Ave. & 51st
In that area, I like:
Nizza - about 45th/9th - glass of wine are reasonable and good & pizza is very good.
Mercury Bar - 46th/9th - always have some sort of appetizer special and drinks

Minetta Tavern Alternative?
Thank you! I think we're going with Freemans - that was so much easier! Thans again.
Minetta Tavern Alternative?
I have some family in town and have been dying to go to Minetta Tavern, but have not been able to get a reservation. Unfortunately my family's last night in the city is Saturday night. Can anyone recommend something along the lines of Minetta Tavern that I may still be able to get reservations for? Or any recommendations on getting into Minetta Tavern?
Thank you!

Vanilla Coke
I just wanted to thank you guys! My niece loved both the Vanilla Coke at Lexington Candy Shop and the Egg Cream at Gem Spa. We also found bottled Vanilla Coke at Danny's (right next to the W hotel) on 47th St right off Broadway (toward 8th), in case anyone is looking for it!
Quick NY Bagel Poll: H&H or Ess-a-Bagel
Ess-a-bagel for sure! I love the chocolate chip cream cheese on a cinnamon raisen bagel. It's definitely worth the wait (or call ahead... they are great about that too).
Vanilla Coke
Does anyone know where I can find Vanilla Coke in the City? I have a niece visiting me for the summer and she is really craving some. I searched the board and tried the Rite Aid suggestion from 2007, but they don't have it. I've also tried 7-Eleven, Duane Reede, Food Emporium and some local grocers.
Thank you!!
Lunch Idea?
I am meeting my boyfriend and his dad in midtown on Friday for lunch and they left the restaurant to my choice. I'm sure I'm stressing out about this way more than is warranted, but to give you an idea... when we've gone to dinner in the past with his parents, we have gone to 21 and Sparks. I was thinking that maybe Balthazar would be a good lunch choice. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
Quiet Suggestions
Thank you so much! We will definitely try both suggestions. Happy New Year!
Quiet Suggestions
I'm trying to sell my boyfriend on moving to Manhattan, but he feels the city is too busy, but he is really only familiar with midtown. I'd like to show him the rest of the city, so that he can get a better feel for it. Could you recommend some restaurants that are charming and not touristy? ($40-50 price range is preferred, but any suggestions are welcomed!) Thank you so much.
