lol I think I must have had a few wines typing on my ipad LMAO..
So was saying Green PArrot. and recently have been hearing Fab conch or cerviche at Senior Frogs made fresh. Dont order anything else here but a drink. Cheff named Dee use to work at Goldies doing the conch years back is at senior frogs now. WE had a decent meal at poop deck but when we got there conch salad was sold out!!!!!

Why not after sun goes down? Not safe area ?? So not as sanitary I take it you dont eat here then?

4 years ago I did have a great lunch at twin brothers at the Fish Fry.. Now reading stay away from here or Potters.. I am bringing a newbie friend with me and telling her she has to give the conch salad a try.. So where do you suggest???????????

Well my chicken rice stick dish didnt turn out as well as i hoped. No ginger on hand when making.. It was a hit with the kids they thought it was chicken noodle spaghetti lol

This happened to mama testas as well in san diego from the throwdown with bobby flay.. We dined here before the show.. I heard it went down hill in quality as too buisy and to their heads.

Scott we have done grand canyon, sedona, flagstaff, jerome and scottsdale in our phoenix trip few years back.
We have not done northern california.. Been to disneylnd in anaheim. San diego staying downtown, also la jolla, laguna beach a few days at each..
My kids are now into lego so wanted to fly into lax do disney and legoland then go up the north coast and fly out of san fran.. Flight far more affordable then hawaii... Even considered texas??? Great food there to try i bet..

I dont know where to go. We have young children as well to factor in our travels so hawaii was our farthest destination. 11 hour flights alone.
Thank you. It was our pleasure and I believe children have so much here and they dont relise what they have so we like to give back.
I would like to go back to california maybe go in LAX and go north coast as we have done san diego area and orange county twice now. Loved Arizona and food but I do like the ocean. Hubby wants to try out Tuscon.

Im missing California. I tell you though no trip will top hawaii's but its a fortune from Toronto. Will have to meet up for a fish taco in the future travels since our paths pass so often with our culinary/drinks lol

Glad everyone enjoyed my reviews. We had a wonderfull time. I have to say though although we did have some good meals in Hawaii our dining experiences were even better in California. We prefer the mexican influence of food and SD fish taco's.

Hello Everyone! sorry I have not been back on here since I left for our trip. I use this site for all my foodie information but with 75% of my vacation advice for attractions and friends on there that have given me personal advice I have had to respond to everyone there as well.

Scott I really appreciated your kind words and complimented my thread reviews of our daily posts. Scott we received a card in the mail yesterday from the cordinator of the shelter and brought a tear to my eye knowing how much we made a difference in their lives and couldnt thank us enough for our time to visit them .
Ok where to start .... okey im going to go to Oahu first as this is where our vacation started.
Leonard's Bakery was fabulous. Our first visit here they mixed up our order. We noticed this after we got back to our condo. Their was missing items and the items we did get were not the right order. I called the bakery and spoke to one of the manager Lance and explained what had happened and they advised us to come back in when we are available and would redo the order. When I came back they went over the call of duty and gave us 4 times as much as we ordered as a token to say they are sorry they mixed up the order we want you to be a happy customer. Very impressed!! We had 2 boxes full of these sugar and cinnamon coated as well as an assortment of the filling stuffed ones. oink oink.. they melted in our mouths and I'm not even a sweet tooth gal or my spouse and we were overly impressed . My spouse said the chocolate filling ones were SO WRONG.....These are not a donut by any means!
Eat the street- street winter food truck rally ..good laugh and great food,, kimo burgers, Ono pops , were the hits. Kids liked waffle wrapped hot dogs. My spouse enjoyed the jumbalaya at a soul food truck but needed more kick. Trucks decorated in christmas lights.
Costco waikiki- POKE my spouse got addicted loved all of them. (also tried them at foodland and loved the spicy tuni with avacoda mixture) Purchased rotissiere chickens, tortilla wraps from here for a easy meal and on maui. Trader Vic's mai tai mix went down lovely for myself. The pog juice and malibu rum mixture was my drink of choice on both islands. Thanks for these recommendations. Also the aloe drinks with mango were so unique and quenching.
Matsumoto's. Long wait and all four of us in our family had a shaved ice . They were huge and we probably could of shared some. To be honest yes they were refreshing on a hot day but did the flavour impress me not really.. The texture of the snow cone was nice but the syrups tasted to me artifiical. (Ululan's shaved ice on maui far better)
Giovani's shrimp truck. Beach chick I ordered your garlic shrimp delight and what a delight it was.. Oh my I could not get enough of these succulant shrimps. My spouse didnt like to have to peel the shells off with all the sauce but thats him. I just got in their and got messy!! Their hot sauce they make up as a side for your rice was fantastic as well. WE all signed their truck/canopy leaving our autographs.
Opal's thai truck was our big disappointment as watching their show on eat the street we were destined to dine here. Turns out they are closed on Mondays &Tuesdays. Once up there we end up filling up at the shrimp truck. fruit stand coconuts, Matsumotos shaved ice and the macadamian nut farm samples LOL.. We also stopped at a fruit stand after popping by a few beaches from north shore and enjoyed a coconut freshly cut. while we waited . We enjoyed sipping the juice from this young coconut then eating the pulp.
Dole plantation . it was a stop to say we went here! Took some photos my daugther enjoyed a dole whip which was huge. We gave it a sample and loved it but I have a allergy to pinapple so it was just a taste. We loved seeing our first painted eucolyptus trees out front this stop.
Rainbow drive Inn. This was a fun stop and brings in big crowds. We ordered 1 plate lunch , terriyaki deluxe cheese for myself (sloppy as sloppy gets and divine). Kids had a burger , hot dog. And fries two drinks shared $22 all stuffed..
KPC Market. Must see for any foodies out there. Something for everyone . Purchased some red seasoning salts, happy cake and local honey to bring back.. Kids had Shaved ice, and Xmas popcorn. I had sausage on a stick, hubby sake clams, and all the other samples , oink!! The fresh cut flowers here are out of this world in beauty.
Ah Lang for angry Korean lady lunch. This place was a little hard to find and parking is hard but we made friends with the mercedes bends dealership and got VIP parking :O) She liked my canadian tall boy I gave her:) We followed the rules. Kids loved the fun and she posed with them for a photo with her angry smile :O). We ordered the seafood tofu soup, Kalbi. fried specialty wings. chicken meat jun, steamed white rice. $60 later and highly recommend as it was one of the best meals we had. We had dinner at condo which was a toss salad aand all the leftovers. For desert we picked up on recommendation here the mochi strawberry pastry found in the freezer of the grocery store beside ben and jerrys. Very interesting flavour and texture on the palate.
Helena's Hawaiian food. One of the best meals. We ordered Short ribs ,Chicken long rice, Beef stew.Salmon lomi.Kailua pig and cabbage,Allllllll to die for.. Dip in red salt bite into island onion equals heaven !!!P.s coconut jello as kids called it was tasty. My children are 5 and 7 we don't do McDonald's etc like them to be enjoy local cuisine on holidays and they sure did!! Owners mom was so personable and friendly even got a photo with chef with all the ribs dangling. :). Bought the shirt for my spouse!
Time for a Waikiki family Pub Crawl First stop Mai tai bar at Royal Hawain- dang kids lemonade was as much as beer lol. But cherries and umbrellas in drinks entertained them. I had a beer cheer for you Beach Chick!
Walk barefoot in sand to Rumfire which was fun.. Tequila sunrise and Stella fries in garlic salt in newspaper with a slider. Photos and chat with Aussies and on to our next stop.
Yard house - 1/2 off appies. Had a hankering for Natchos. Awesome and fully loaded and I mean loaded only complaint ,chicken dried out and hard put aside and enjoyed the rest,, spouse ahi tuna and shiitake and noodles,, kids not hungry but entertained with their coloring/activity books.
On to PF Changs for a red zin wine on patio. Watched hula dancing and music along the way International Market for trinkets for kids buddies :) Back to Condo and packed .
Nico's Pier 38 Had a quick lunch here as soon as they opened for lunch prior to getting to airport. My spouse and I both had a fish plate lunch. One was blackened cajun and the other the special of the day. Children shared a fish and chips and were really impressed with our meals. Best fish meal we had in Hawaii.

I too loved my food at Helena's and it was the last but best meal on oahu before I went to Maui. WE loved our visit to start noodle on maui but most other meals including aloha mixed plate and honolua store WERE HORRIBLE.. very disapointed on both..
HNL we too loved nico's it was our breakfast lunch before catching our flight and loved their fish plate meals.
On the topic of helenas and that they use beef short ribs. I would not be able to dry out and smoke but would like to know what type of spices or seasoning is on these ribs???
Also our whole family enjoyed the long rice chicken . Not at all what we expected thinking it was rice with chicken for my daugther and came out more like noodle soup.. So I have purchased vermicelli rice stick noodles and have broth and would like to attempt something similar anyone have suggestions on what to put in this soup???

We are flying in late so no dinner the first evening thursday but Friday night will be our first real day in oahu. We planned on going to the beach all day eating at nico's for lunch and dinner we were considering Shorebirds for grill your own meat with salad bar.. ??? anyone else enjoy this concept here? WE have children in tow so we thought this might be a family fun night then walk down to see firworks from HHV.. Also I read Shorebirds has a coupon in most books buy one meal 1/2 off the second. or something like this..
