lactose free yogurt
Hi All, can you keep an eye out for any groceries that are selling dairy based, lactose free yogurt? (St Paul side, especially). Apparently Yoplait, Lactaid , and Green Valley Organics are now making it. Thanks!
Best Bakery -- not refined, not French, just good donuts
Tried this place this a.m. Got there about 9, line out the door. By the time I got to the counter, there were not many "flavors" left. Apparently, you can call in to pre-order, which is definitely the way to go. Couldn't find anything on their website listing the menu though. I had a 1) pistachio cake donut, which, disappointingly, only had pistachios on the top and not in the donut itself, 2) a plain glazed, which was nothing to write home about, and 3) pumpkin donut holes, which I'd get again.

Major Ramen craving
Tanpopo is now serving ramen, but only on Mondays. And they only have Shoyu ramen.
CSA advice?
Hi. I'm thinking of joining a CSA this year and am looking for info on personal experiences with the various local farms. The list from the Land Stewardship Directory is a bit overwheming to go through, farm by farm. Ideally would have half-shares and deliver to St Paul. There are a few people in my condo building who may be interested in joining - direct delivery would be a huge plus. Thanks!
RAKU japanese restaurant/ 50th street/ downtown edina
Has anyone tried the NabeYak Udon? I am wondering how it compares to Tanpopo's....
Moving to the Twin Cities - best neighborhood for big eaters?
St Paul farmer's market was listed as one of the best in the nation last year:

Also, Black Sheep Pizza just opened in downtown StP
New Buffet (STP)
Saw people seated inside as I drove by, and their open sign was lit.
New Zealand Chocolate in Minneapolis
I would definitely give Sugar Sugar Candy a call. They can track down just about anything and special order!

They also have a facebook page.
solo dining
I tend to favor small plates type of serving. Not looking for a steakhouse. Love Italian, Japanese, fusion. Thanks for your help.
solo dining
Looking for recs for a solo diner. I have a few days in Vegas for a conference, staying at the Aria. Any price range is acceptable. I'd like to avoid having to make reservations. Thanks
Faces Mears Park
Is this place a complete dud? I looked at the menu and it seems uninspired. Has anyone been?
Twin Cities street food
Fork in the Road gals are planning on working through the winter!
Trung Nam bakery now serving pho ($4.99 through tomorrow)
Stopped by for lunch today. Pho isn't served until 1pm.
Recs for Upper West Side
I'll be staying at the Lucerne (79th and Broadway) for a weekend. Looking for a low-key place where you don't have to shout to be heard across the table. Ideally would like a locavore-type of menu. Price is open.
Minneapolis loss = St. Paul gain
Are they only around during the lunch hours? Are they tweeting their locations?
Casual, good food recs
I will be in Boston in June for a conference, staying at the Copley Westin. I'm looking for recs for a casual (i.e. jeans and button-downs) restaurant that has an emphasis on local/seasonal cooking. Group size roughly 6-8. Also looking for suggestions on *the* place not to be missed. Expenses are covered by corporate, so sky's the limit. Thanks!
Vines and Steins
Wine/beer/cheese shop on 7th in St Paul (lowertown). They have had "coming soon" up in the window for a looooong time. Does anyone know if this will come to fruition?
MSP - Looking for a cheap going away party hangout
Chatterbox (several locations). beer, food, old video games (classic nintendo, sega), board games.
MSP - Bin Wine Bar - Lowerton St. Paul
I walked by today. Pretty empty. Their web site is of no help on this one.

Milwaukee dining?
Anmol on Mitchell St. Pakistani/Indian. They don't serve liquor. Hole in the wall, but the food is phenomenal. I recently moved from MKE back to the TC and Anmol is one of the few things I miss.

New to MSP--great mid-priced date food near Uptown?
I would go to Lucia's - the wine bar side. I'd advise you to look at the dessert tray first, so you can pace yourself!
Milwaukee food help
1) I really like La Mernda for a relaxed atmosphere and great food. http://www.lamerenda125.com/
2) I would choose Sanford over Roots anyday (and everyday). I think they pay closer attention to the fine details. Sanford also has a sister restaurant in the 3rd ward called Coquette which is superb as well.
3) I've only fish-fryed at Lakefront Brewery. It's quite an experience. Try to get in on the tour, it's worth the wait.
Milwaukee and Oshkosh trip need advice
Anmol is a little gem of Pakistani food. Cheap, original, and delicious.
711 W Mitchell Street
I wasn't a fan of Mekato's arroz con pollo - sort of a bland fried rice, IMO. The arepas and pastries are great though.
If you've never had kangaroo before, you can try it at DreamDance, in the casino. Some of the best meat that I've ever eaten. http://paysbig.com/dining/dreamdance/
Extra bonus: the wines are retail priced!!!
Kangaroo - MSP
I recently had kangaroo in another city. Absolutely deeee-lish. Does anyone know of a TC restaurant that has it on the menu? Or any grocer/meat market that sells the meat?
Best bakery for sweets - Mke
I really liked La Reve in Wauwatosa village.
I hated Harlequin bakery. I bought some cupcakes from there to bring to work, and practically had to beg people to take them. Dry, unflavorful, overpriced. I would never ever go back there for anything!
Charro MKE
I tried this place earlier in the week. Although the menu looks enticing, I was disappointed by what was served. I started with the squash soup, something that I usually love. It was far too sweet - and I couldn't appreciate the "carribean spices." Furthermore, the servers neglected to bring a spoon. I also tried the Ropa Vieja, which was ok - sweet plantain and braised meat. The meat had some flavoring to it, but nothing to write home about. The "4 types of cheese" that is printed on the menu is not a selling point. The beef tamale was bland - you're better off going to El Rey at the Public Market and picking up some of their tamales.
Hinterland Milwaukee
I found Hinterland to be adequate, but not inspiring. (and overpriced to boot!). For an even better meal, try Sanford. It will blow you away.
MKE: Pho in Milwaukee
Pho Hai Binh has the best pho that I"ve tasted in MKE. However, there was a recent article about sanitation issues. http://www.todaystmj4.com/features/dirtydinning/35596904.html
I'm not sure if it will stop me from going.
