Magical Peruvian Green Sauce "Huacatay" Recipe
Thank you so very much for the information! My friends got me some Huacatay seeds during their trip to Peru. Do you have any ideas how to grow them? Myself and several other people tried them without any success. Again, thanks!!!
Daikokuya (Los Angeles) dressing recipe
Hi Everyone,
My family and I just tired this place (Monterey Park, not J-Town) and it was delicious. I am wondering does anyone know the recipe to their miso salad dressing. I believe it has miso, vinegar, grape-seed oil, daikon, and sesame? Thanks!
Magical Peruvian Green Sauce "Huacatay" Recipe
Thank you so very much for everyone's input. I have been chasing this Huacatay recipe for nearly two years. I think it is called Aji Verde. Believe it or not, I was able to get some Huacatay seeds directly from Peru. The problem I am having now is the planting instructions. I live in Southern California and I have tried several times with no luck. My colleagues also tried with the same result. Please post a reply if you know how to grow Huacatay. Thanks!!!
Where are the best restaurants in Shanghai & Beijing?

Need Help with Early Dinner in Alhambra
Hi Everyone,
Please let me know a restaurant you would recommend for an early dinner at 4:30PM on a Thursday. There will be around 17 people, adults and kids. We want to host a dinner for our family members before attending my daughter's kindergarten graduation ceremony. My problem is that many places do not open until 5:00PM. We prefer a restaurant closer to Atlantic and Main. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks...
Where are the best local restaurants in Beijing, China?
Hi Everyone, Thank you so very much for all your suggestions. I enjoyed my dinner at South Beauty and many local Chinese restaurants. My only regret going to Beijing is dining at The Courtyard. Three of us, without drinks, the bill came to around 2,500RMB which includes the mandatory 15% gratuity. I feel sick to my stomach knowing that our dinner cost more than a one month salary for most people in China. I will definitely stick with the local restaurants on my next trip to Beijing and use the extra money to help out the needy...I hope everyone will do the same :)
Where are the best local restaurants in Beijing, China?
Hi Everyone! I will be heading to Beijing again next week. I have tried many popular restaurants like the Courtyard or Quan Ju De for Peking duck. I prefer to try some local places this time. Moreover, please help me with some local places to visit for inexpensive artwork or shopping -- no more knockoffs. I am staying near Wangfujing area (East of Tiananmen Square) but I do not care for the tourist shops. One last question, how much should I tip in the restaurants? Thank you very much in advance for everyone's inputs. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!! :)
Williams-Sonoma or Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissant [moved from L.A. board]
Thanks for the excellent info. I wasn't aware that Trader Joe's is also from Galaxy Desserts.
Williams-Sonoma or Trader Joe's Chocolate Croissant [moved from L.A. board]
Which is better? I tried the William-Sonoma croissant for the very first time over the holidays. My family and I were so impressed. I heard from few people that the Trader Joe's version is similar. Please share your thoughts...Thanks!
Yume Kitchen???
Went to Yume Kitchen for the very first time last weekend. The food was only okay and service was absolutely lousy. The server actually scolded me when I asked him where was the restroom. He thought I came into the restaurant only to use the restroom. No one should put up with this type of arrogant attitude or service. My family and I will certainly never go back again.
Magical Peruvian Green Sauce "Huacatay" Recipe
Thanks for the info. I have no luck finding the Huacatay leaves or plant. Do you know where I can buy this plant or the seeds in Southern California?
Magical Peruvian Green Sauce "Huacatay" Recipe
THANK YOU SO MUCH, Casa SaltShaker! I am definitely going to try this recipe. I live in Southern California. I will see where I can get the huacatay leaves. Again, thanks!!!
Magical Peruvian Green Sauce "Huacatay" Recipe
Please help! I have been searching for the Peruvian green sauce ever since I visited several restaurants in the Kendall area in Miami. The green sauce was served with the bread. It is absolutely delicious!
I have found numerous recipes with mayo, lime, jalepeno, lettuce, olive oil, mint and salt. These ingredients are not authentic as Peru does not use jalepeno or mayo in their cooking. I was told the authenic recipe calls for:
Huacatay - Peruvian plant
Aji - Peruvian Spice
Oil
Kosher Salt
Lime
Can anyone verify this recipe? Where can I buy the Huacatay or the Aji? Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
Driving out to Petrillo's...what should I order?
Hi All,
Just went to Petrillo's for the very first time...What a disappointment. My family and I were there on a Sunday (4/13/08) at around 5:30 PM. It must be at least 80 degrees inside...uncomfortably warm. All three of us ordered pasta. To our surprise, all the pasta dishes were drown in sauce. I mean a lot of sauce (soup!).
What is worse is the service. It is very rare that I check my bill but it just happened that I saw a "2" on the drink order when we only ordered one. When questioned, the server did not apologize and even questioned us as we had made the mistake. The server came back with the new bill and said nothing to us...What an attitude! I am believer that patrons do not need to put us with bad service. I will need to find another local pizzeria as my family will never visit this place again!
Must Visit Places in Tokyo (Shinjuku)
My family & I (Two adults & 1 five year old) will be visiting Tokyo for a week in late January. Any suggestions on restaurants and must-see places are greatly appreciated. I also plan to visit a great restaurant to visit my wife's birthday...Please help!
Best Restaurant in Koreatown, Los Angeles
Thanks to everyone for their great advice. We just got back from dinner at Chosun Galbee. The food was good, but certainly not outstanding. We placed seven orders for six adults and one child. Our table in the patio area was simply too small. They should have given us a bigger table than the standard six seater. Our experience would have been much better if we had more room to eat.
We will probably won't go back again. We will be looking forward to try all the other great suggestions...Thanks, again!
Chosun Galbi - Koreatown
We will be going to CG for dinner for the first time this weekend. Any recommedations will be greatly appreciated. There will be six adult and one child. Also, should we dine at the patio or indoor? Thanks!
Need a fun place for a 5 year old b-day party...Help!

Need a fun place for a 5 year old b-day party...Help!
Hi Everyone,
We are planning a simple birthday party for my 5 year old daughter and would love to welcome everyone's suggestions.
FYI: We have already ruled out the following:
Goofy's Kitchen (Anaheim -- Great place, but too far)
Amy's Place (Pasadena -- Just went there)
Chuck E Cheese's -- No.
Jump & Jammin (Arcadia -- Been there too many times)
Best Taco Stands in LA
My wife and I drove to Yucas just to try their tacos after seeing the "10 best taco places" on TV . We were disappointed as it tasted like any other taco stand. I am willing to give it another try since there is so much hype. Any specific suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure we have their best dish on their menu. By the way, does anyone know a real good Mexican restaurant in LA? I have many fantastic meals in Mexico, but have not been able to find one in LA.
The Boiling Crab in Alhambra
