Flaky Tart - new on Mt Pleasant
I was there for the Grand Opening on Saturday. Delicious muffins, scones, brownies, tarts and pies. Loved the passion fruit tarts. They had a lineup. They will be a big hit once the word gets around. If you're wanting a specialty cake -ask for a vodka lemon mousse - so yummy!
I have been a fan for over a year and a half so I was glad they got a TO location. Check them out!
Madelaine, the chef and owner is a delight! You'll be treated well and their product is top notch!
Restaurant suggestion in the Yonge Sheppard area
I am taking a group of 15 people to the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Can you suggest a good restaurant in the Yonge Sheppard area?
Thanks!
Need a simple appetizer recipe
Speaking as a caterer, appetizers are a hugh undertaking... no matter how simple.
I'm not sure if you priced out having a caterer to the work but if you take into account planning, shopping, prep and service - it's more economical to let someone else do the work and you just enjoy the party!
Just a suggestion...
thoughts on cherry tomatoes?
I stuff cherry tomatoes with a mixture of goat cheese, cream cheese, sundried tomatoes, salt & pepper and top them with a small basil leaf and about 3 toasted pine nuts. This is one of the most popular appetizers that my clients order during the summer season. Delicious!
taste of the danforth
I, too, was dissapointed in some of the food quality and the prices. I had a good souvlaki on a pita but the rest of the food I tried was mediocre at best.
On Saturday night, the crowds got so bad you could hardly move! Not a an enjoyable experience. Took about 20 minutes to get free of the mob scene!!
I think I will "taste the Danforth" another time when the festival is not on. It will be much more enjoyable!
Pea Shoots - where to buy?
You can definitely get them at Uncles George's 416-601-2122, downstairs at the St. Lawrence Market. I buy them there all the time.
Great Indian Food in TO
Check out the Cooking Schools at Loblaws for Smita Chandra's Indian cooking classes. Smita is a delight and her food is fabulous!! I have taken a dozen classes with her and learned a lot. She usually makes the rounds of most of the Loblaws locations. Check out the Queen's Quay location.
Good Mexican Food in Toronto?

P.E.I. - Charlottetown recommendations?
I was on PEI two weeks ago...
In Charlottetown -
Try Fisbones on Victoria Row. Great seafood chowder. Fun drinks (served in fish bowls). Sit outside - good people watching.
We went to the Culinary Institute. Good food. Fairly pricing. Service was not steller. Even though the servers are in training, I thought they should have been more professional and knowledgeable about the food.
Gahan's food for thier Brown Bag fish & chips and handcrafted ale.
The Farmer's Market (Wednesday & Saturday) just outside Charlottetown - had some great food as well. Inexpensive and some good ethnic fare.
If you are in Darley - try Hurricanez By the Bay. Very good food - great value and the staff are excellent. Seafood chowder is a must!!
HoPe you enjoy our trip!
