Any CHers up for Midtown weekday lunch?

Hi Guys - did this ever happen? If the date was pushed back, I'd love to join. I just can't go to Chop't another day this month...

name 5 overrated, or over hyped or famous restaurants whose food doesn't live up to reputation

:) I never said that the Colicchio or JG restaurants weren't good, but I do think that a good chunk of them are over-rated and get way more hype than they're worth. For example - I've been to Colicchio and Sons three times now (i think it's hard to avoid MP when you live here. inevitably, someone wants to go there). and although the meals were always solid, I didn't think there was anything different or special enough about the meal to justify the $100+ p/p price. And i'm sorry - but for that price, I want the food to knock my socks off and leave me craving more. I found the main courses in particular underwhelming, and couldn't help but think that I could be in nearly any new American restaurant. Comparatively, the food at Recette for example, has left me scraping every last morsel off of my plate, and I don't mind putting up with the crowd and the tiny space because I know the meal will pay its dividends.

@JHunter - no worries. you'll have a good experience:)

What to order at Sakagura?

you guys are awesome. thanks so much for your input - especially the mentions of dishes that were NOT your favorites. That helps a ton. Additionally I rarely leave room for dessert - but it sounds like it will be worth it to do so at Sakagura.

Gracias!

I'll probably get a lot of sh** for this - but I would say most of the Jean Georges and Tom Colicchio restaurants...

What to order at Sakagura?

Perfect!!!! Thanks so much. My taste is probably more eclectic and I prefer anything different. My guests, although less daring, are open to trying new things so long as the risk offers a high pay off :)

Thanks again - I took one look at the menu and just didn't know where to start!

What to order at Sakagura?

Hello,

Going to Sakagura tomorrow night with some friends in town for a wedding. Smaller group - 5 people. But I've never been. And although I hear nothing but good things, the menu is long and I want to make sure my guests leave satisfied... aaaandd... that my foodie palate is fulfilled. Everything sounds good... but can someone help me narrow it down?

Flushing Chinese for a large group - English-friendly

I have to second Ocean Jewels. Definitely large enough, and good quality food. I would simply make a reservation and then have one of the managers translate one of the banquet menus (sized for large groups) for you. I'd recommend a seafood based banquet menu for a party your size and enjoy.

Other-than-Asian food in Flushing?

Don't forget about Deluge, located inside the Sheraton. Nouveau American with fair prices, and the portions for the main course dishes are HUGE

Christmas Eve Dinner in Bayside/Forest Hills?

Hello,

I'm looking to have a casual, low key dinner to catch up with two old girl friends in Queens, preferably in Bayside or Forest Hills. Somewhere comfortable. Probably American or american contemporary. Any good suggestions?
