Hungry Hunter, near SFO

Sorry for never following up. I ended up at House of Prime Rib in SF and it was delicious!

I'll be at SFO for a night in November and this time don't want to venture into the city. I might try Broadway Prime, and it's clear that most people think Hungry Hunter doesn't even compare.

What about Gulliver's?

non-pork soup dumplings

Sigh. Too bad. There's a kosher chinese restaurant in MA that has beef dumplings that aren't advertised as soup dumplings, but certainly look/taste that way to me. Was hoping to find something similar here in NYC-metro.

non-pork soup dumplings

Are there any soup dumplings for us non-pork eaters? Long Island preferred, but 5 boroughs will do as well.

Thanks!

Atlantic City suggestions

will be in AC for a Saturday night, so I'm looking for a dinner suggestion and a Sunday morning breakfast/brunch suggestion.

Staying at the Sheraton, but going to Caesar's Sat nite.

help deciphering dishes at The Orient, Bethpage, LI

Can someone shed light on the difference between these dishes:

Hot and Spicy Chicken
Chicken with Garlic Sauce
Szechuan Chicken
Hunan Chicken
Kung Po Chicken

then from the Combination Platters section of the menu, there is the additional "Chicken or Beef with Hot Pepper Sauce"

I assume Kung Po is the typical americanized version with peanuts. I'm looking for something that resembles as closey as possible the dish "Dried Chicken with Chili Sauce - 香辣干煸雞" from Sichuan Gourmet in Massachusetts.

I wish there were pictures of everything on the menu, like a dive takeout Chinese resto!

Thanks!

best South Shore LI kosher supermarket/grocery store?

Of the large kosher supermarkets on the south shore, which one is considered the best, in terms of fresh/prepared food?

We are looking for franks-in-blankets, mini latkes, etc for a Hanukkah party, and wanted to know if there were better options that Barney's/Cohen's frozen.

TIA!

Toraya

I think you mean Hiro, at Fugakyu, at the far back right.

Long Island tacos

Does anyone know of any "authentic" taqueria in eastern Nassau or western Suffolk that serves pollo asada tacos? All the ones I know of in Westbury or Hicksville serve boiled chicken instead of grilled chicken.

So which is better... Broadway Prime or HOPR?

Amazing solo dinner at 15 East (long review)

Wow- those pictures make me want to go there right now! Can I ask what the price was?

Question about omakase: I keep [my own version of] kosher, and therefore don't eat any shellfish. Can I just inform the chef ahead of time, so he only serves the fish selections? Or would the chef not humor me with his selections at all?

taco lady at the Mexican Embassy

El Rey Del Sabor's chicken and steak tacos were delicious. As was their tamale.

I'd actually been to the cart on 60th before.. for a burrito, which was not anything special.

How does Pampano compare to this?

Thanks!

Ahh, tamales. In that case: any taco suggestions near 39th and Park?

taco lady at the Mexican Embassy

Are there still tacos in front of the Mexican Embassy?

Looking for something near 39th and Park, without walking up to Pampano.

Hungry Hunter, near SFO

I'll be staying at a hotel right down the road. Is the prime rib here on par with Prime Rib House in SF (never been, just seen it on the Food Network's "Best Food I Ever Ate" series?

At Hungry Hunter, should I get the Prime Rib or a NY Strip?

I like my prime rib salty.

need rec for midtown Saturday brunch with kids

Can someone suggest a Saturday brunch place in midtown (walking distance in the cold from Times Square) for four adults, a 5 year old and a 7 month old (who sometimes likes to scream ;-))

Thanks

best buffalo wings in Eastern Nassau

I'm searching for recommendations for the best (or at least very very good) wings in Hicksville, Plainview, Syosset, Woodbury, Bethpage, Old Bethpage, or Farmingdale.

I've never tried Wings Over Farmingdale, but plan to. The wings at the Main Event in Plainview are okay, but nothing special in my opinion. I don't know about many places in this area.

Thanks!

Hicksville, LI Indian

My favorite Indian restaurant in Hicksville is Kirin Palace, but I figured I'd see if I could branch out. I've eaten at Diwan (just the lunch buffet) and was not very impressed. Does anyone have any can't-miss suggestions?

Also, I just heard about "Chicken 65" (from the post on Southern Spice in Flushing). I'd love to try this dish. Does anyone know if any place around this area has it? Looks like (I think I saw it on a yelp search) Diwan has it as an appetizer.

BTW, I'm asking about Indian, but I'll also take hakka-style suggestions. My go to place for that is New Chili and Curry on Woodbury Road in Hicksville. Chili Chicken Hakka Style (dry, not wet) is just amazing.

looking for meat baby food on Long Island (or NYC)

I'm looking for meat baby food. All the places around me (Plainview) carry only parve items. I called Gourmet Glatt in Cederhurst and then told me that they sold beef and chicken, so I might try there. But, I wanted to know if anyone know of a grocery store or supermarket that had a large selection of baby food.

Thanks!

Best Egg & Cheese on Wall Street?

I just found this thread, over seven years later.... anyone know if this truck is still around? I'm in search of the a great egg & cheese sandwich near 40 Wall St.

Wanted: best cappuccino/latte and egg&cheese sandwich downtown

I'm looking for the best places to go for a good cappuccino or latte and egg&cheese sandwich on/near Wall Street.

I'm expecting different places to be named for each request :)

Krisch's or Hildebrandt's

I also love In the Mood... and go there often. But, I think of it differently from Hildebrandt's or Krisch's... those are ice cream parlors where as ITM is an ice cream store.

Krisch's or Hildebrandt's

These are the only two place I've been to in this genre. My parents are die-hard Hildebrandt's fans, as am I, but I was extremely impressed with the ice cream at Krisch's the other night. Just curious what other people thought.

La Parma Huntington

We've been to the one on Willis Ave in Albertson/East Williston... delicious. I assume the Huntington one is the same. The Chicken Scarpariello is out of this world.

Krisch's or Hildebrandt's

Which is better for ice cream: Krisch's in Massapequa or Hildrebrandt's in Williston Park?

looking for a fish restaurant that serves trout

I can't seem to find a low-key fish house with trout on the menu. I've tried Popei's in Bethpage and Crabby Dan's in Glen Head.

I'm not looking for Jolly Fisherman or Riverview type places... low key only.

best coffee in Hicksville?

House of Donuts iced coffee was bitter -- not worth repeating.

Nassau County Italian with Good Ambiance, Food & Prices?

FYI, Cafe Baci is owned by the former owners of Spasso, which used to be down the street. Baci is great, but the parking is horrible.

best coffee in Hicksville?

That's what I figured....

Today I got iced coffee from the new-ish 7-11 at the intersection of Old Country Rd and 107. I normally think that 7-11 coffee surpasses DD but today's iced coffee tasted a little off. Granted, it could be the milk I added.

Anyway, I think I will try House of Donuts sometime this week, and @scunge: I'll give IKEA a try too. Too bad Georgio's in Huntington and Mo Joe in Mineola are too far.

best coffee in Hicksville?

Where's the best place to get coffee in Hicksville? I'm looking for suggestions for very good iced coffee (I normally go to Georgio's in Huntington) or late-type drinks.

Is House of Donuts any good?
