But Muncie Still Sucks? Readers Respond to "10 Worst College Towns"

It's really stupid to me that someone would think it clever to write an article like this in a world where we complain about Americans' lack of awareness of and loyalty to local food culture. Chow should be promoting these small, local favorites, not ridiculing them.

Also, I dunno if it's still there but Bahn Thai in Gainesville used to be one of my favorites.

So you chose to respond to these completely well-founded and reasonable responses with more ignorant sarcasm? Good job, Chow. I think I may need to find a new go-to online recipe place. How 'bout you try apologizing for pissing us off?

Barley with Winter Greens Pesto

you're a dumby, ashland. this looks delicious. garnished with a sprig of fresh herbs? maybe some lemon zest and olive oil or truffle oil? freshly grated romano? be creative.

Blowfish Testicles? Barf!

Oh booo hoo hoo I'm a white person and I think food that other cultures enjoy is gross and weird. Blah blah blah.

Peter Luger's -- Solo?

do it. you'll regret it if you don't. their steaks are indeed huge, but who says you can't take leftovers to your hotel and eat them for dinner?

atmosphere is casual and luger's is far from "fancy", but if you went in a suit you wouldn't be out of place either. i'd go in either nice jeans or a dress for dinner depending on how i feel.

also, order the creamed spinach.

Pumpkin Saffron Risotto paired with...? [LAST MINUTE ADVICE NEEDED]

Someone on another website's board suggests Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta Satèn 1998 to go with butternut squash risotto, but it's like $65 a bottle. Can anyone who knows this wine recommend something similar but cheaper?

Heading to Philly for a weekend --- Any good recommendations??

There's a wonderful place called TRIA that does these incredible beer and cheese pairings. Great for a late lunch. http://www.triacafe.com They organize their cheese menu by categories like: clean, luscious, stinky, approachable, stoic, and racy and all their cheese is from (of course) This is Murray's. They also have delicious small plates. I recommend the truffled egg toast

Pumpkin Saffron Risotto paired with...? [LAST MINUTE ADVICE NEEDED]

Making a pumpkin saffron risotto for some friends who are coming over for dinner tonight. It's a casual dinner and this will be the main course, served with a warm and lemony brussel sprout "slaw" alongside. Thinking of pairing this with a really oaky, buttery chardonnay. Any other suggestions? Price range: under $30/bottle.

What to do with tons of fresh basil and parsley?

What about basil cocktails? I remember having one at a bar in Albuquerque once called a basito (a basil mojito)... rum, lime juice, sugar and basil instead of mint. Maybe add some fresh cranberries to make Christmas colors!

Prairie Oyster

oops. I meant "sea urchin" not "sear urchin".

Prairie Oyster

What is wrong with you guys? This is a delicious and classic shot. Weird that so many people on here are repulsed by it. I've had a sort of Asian fusion version of this at a wonderful sushi place in Austin, TX called Uchi. The shot there consists of a raw quail egg and a tremendously succulent piece of uni (sear urchin) floating in a double shot of champagne and garnished with shiso leaf. Delicious!
