Frozen Yogurt in T.O?
I like Mon Berri on Bloor at Huron. Also, Céfiore. Those are my two pinkberry-esque faves!!
Warming Winter Chow-Treats - what are some of your local favourites?
Oh my gosh, the baked-to-order chocolate chip cookies at Delux. They come out steaming and taste better than homemade.

Brocton General, Parts and Labor, or Local Kitchen and Wine Bar
I love the Local Kitchen! The food is wonderful and prices are exceptionally reasonable. I love the gnocchi. The service is good and the vibe is fun and energetic and cozy. Go early, though — it's hard to get a table. I think they take phone numbers, though, so you could go grab a drink at Mitzi's Sister while you wait. I don't know the other two places.

CHOWFIND: Wasabi All You Can Eat Sushi - Parkside and Bloor
This place has been open for a little while now, but it immediately became my husband's and my favourite sushi spot in the neighbourhood, and after yet another great meal this weekend, I figured I should share on here. I want this great spot to have lots of business and stay open forever!
The quality of fish is fantastic. The salmon hunks on the Red Dragon roll are massive, and it just looks SO fresh. They cook the tempura shrimp so soon before making the Dynamite Rolls that it's still warm in the rolls, something I've never encountered anywhere else. The avocado is always perfect, and the gyoza is delicious. My edamame the other night was steaming and salty and wonderful. Overall, the quality of food is consistently excellent. Service is prompt and efficient and the value is very good.
This place is by far the best sushi option in the Roncesvalles/High Park/Bloor West area.
Food Deal - $10 for $20 at Marche (actual giftcard)
Thanks! I'm a sucker for that rosti no matter what anybody says!
Best budget dining for believers in organic/naturally raised food?
I love The Beet! The food is great and the value feels good.
Moules frites at Bier Market?
I love the provençale mussels at the Bier Market! I find them to be completely delicious, and, in fact, I dream about them.

My favourites are Burro Burrito and El Asador. I love the pinto beans at Chipotle — I find them really flavourful. They cook them with bacon! Bacon!

NYC gals visiting T.O in Nov looking for great mid-priced restaurants
I like the Queen Mother on Queen Street, near John. It's been there for a long time and it's very Toronto, for me. Also on Ossington, check out Pizza Libretto. I love their pizza, and the scene is fun. Go early or expect lineups, though. Apparently their prix-fixe lunch is an incredible deal — fifteen bucks for salad, a whole pizza, and dessert!
If you're okay to head a bit west, Local Kitchen and Wine Bar on Queen Street at Roncesvalles is great. The food is delicious (rustic Italian) and the energy is casual and energetic. It feels very much like Parkdale (the neighbourhood it's in) which I love about it. And the prices always feel outrageously low to me, considering the high caliber of the food. You could take the streetcar west on Queen from the Eaton Centre, but it is a small trek west.
Ho Su, also on Queen (near the Queen Mother — just west of it, actually), has great cheap sushi and other pan-Asian eats. I'm always shocked by how teeny my bill is, there. The avocado rolls are so good.
Have fun! There's lots of great food in this city!

Mitzi's sis is great! I also like the Cadillac Lounge and the Gladstone.
Best all you can eat Sushi in/near TO?
My two favourite places are Wasabi on Bloor at Parkside (their salmon is incredible — huge pieces, and SO fresh) and Sushi Island on College. I love the brown rice sushi at Sushi Island.
lunches in downtown Toronto?
The Queen Mum is pretty quick for lunch. Just let them know you're not able to stay too long and ask what dishes are the quickest to prepare. I love the Queen Mum!
Also on Queen — Ho Su. Good for inexpensive Japanese and Korean.
Disgraceland for dinner?
I had very yummy nachos there not too long ago. VERY yummy.
Ancient but good - what's your long standing favourite?
I've been going to the Queen Mum for fifteen years and I don't think I've been disappointed once!
Help! Repatriated Torontonian baffled by the Chinese food!
I bet small towns in Ontario would have what you're looking for. For some reason, Chinese restaurants are in every single village or small town in this province, and they are often tasty — and usually far from authentic. Sometimes the Chinese restaurants are the only reliable eateries around. I grew up in a village outside of Ottawa, and the Chinese food was great! I remember the exact egg rolls you describe. This board isn't as great for small-town Ontario food, but maybe you could extend your hunt outside of the GTA? Might be fun driving in the country, admiring the leaves, breathing the crisp fall air, and finding the best egg rolls this province has to offer!
Goed Eten has reemerged in a new location
I went when they had been open for just a few weeks! I was starving after attending a pre-natal yoga class down the street. The woman started chatting to me about my pregnancy, and the man was there too, telling me about parenthood. Maybe he was the owner?
Anyway, I finally got around to ordering a sandwich and found out that they didn't have debit set up yet, and was pretty bummed since I didn't have any cash on me. I was all set to walk out the door and get my meal elsewhere, and the man said he'd make me a sandwich for free! He whipped up a beautiful roasted veggie sandwich for me and I promised to be back, next time with cash.
I doubt they are really in the habit of handing out free food, but I think the combo of the conversation we had started, my obvious pregnancy, and the fact that they were just freshly opened worked together to deliver me a delicious, satisfying, FREE sandwich!
I haven't been able to get back yet, but I can't wait to actually give them business. I haven't been so impressed in a while.
Looking for the holy grail - cheap healthy and very delicious restaurant for a casual weeknight dinner
Oh my gosh, the Fish Store is INCREDIBLE!!!! Must go have a fish sandwich immediately.

The Cadillac Lounge on a Thursday shouldn't be too noisy. They have a great back patio.
Help me scratch some NOTL wineries off the list?
Peninsula Ridge is very picturesque. They have a wonderful lunch. The wines are a bit ho hum, but eating lunch outside that beautiful old house, on that huge deck overlooking the vines.... it's pretty spectacular.

I forgot Konzelmann! A great winery.
What is the story at Mövenpick on Yonge at Wellington?
Thanks!! Not sure how I missed that...!
What is the story at Mövenpick on Yonge at Wellington?
In January, I read in the Star that Mövenpick will take over Marché from Richtree, and that the transition renos will be complete in six to eight months. Anyone know updated information about when the renos are scheduled to be complete? Is the restaurant open for business yet? I can't find anything online.

We go to wine country to tour about once a year, and our very favourite is Lailey. They do a wonderful cheese pairing that is ridiculously cheap for the huge amount of delicious cheese that they serve. You have to book it in advance. The wine is wonderful but a bit expensive.
We also like Flat Rock, Coyote Run (great reds, which can be hard to find in that neck of the woods), and Tawse. Not on your list, but another one of our faves, is Fielding. They have a great unoaked chardonnay, and they have a few sweeter summer whites that are pretty special.
Dinner on Roncey
I wouldn't recommend Fat Cat. It's been a while since I've been, but I wasn't that impressed last time I was there. The flat bread crackers that they served came out of a package that looked suspiciously similar to one I buy at No Frills. The cheese plate was good, though — I'd definitely go back for the cheese. Domani has never blown me away either, but it's definitely decent.

I also hadn't noticed shrunken portions. I was there at the end of March... will have to go back.
Dinner on Roncey
I love Local Kitchen! And I have always found it to be exceptionally well-priced. I am always shocked at the tininess of the bill. The quality of the food is superb, and yet I never feel I'm forking over what I would anywhere else.
Another good option on Queen at Roncy is Cowbell. It's a bit more expensive, though.
